Among Sumeru's areas, there's a desert that's almost like a counterpart to the rainforest region. A fun detail as you travel through the desert is that the sand marks your movements. You don't just leave footprints on the sand, you also leave unique marks according to the characters and weapons you're using.
Enemies' movements and attacks also leave tracks in the sand. This makes an otherwise barren land more fun to explore. Plus, it can be seen as a parallel to how the Irminsul trees' Leylines record whatever happens, as if the sand is also 'recording' what's happening.
5 The Aranara Kno𒈔w S🎶omething About Paimon
The Aranara is a cute species that will ask for your help in Sumeru. A lot. Many of the world quests revolve around them, and they give a lot of important lore, as well as access to mechanics you'll need to fully explore Sumeru. Their language is different from that of humans, and they refer to humans as Nara.
Whenever they address the Traveler, they always preface it with 'Nara' beforehand. However, they don't do the same with Paimon, only referring to her as 'Paimon'. Somehow, the Aranara know that Paimon isn't human. Maybe they even know what exactly she is, though they haven't given it away. The mystery deepens; just what is Paimon?
4 🉐 Enemies Have More Personality ♚
Human enemies are ෴nothing new in Genshin Impact, but the Eremites set themselves apart from enemies like the Fatui and Treasure Hoarders with how they act outside of battle. The next time you come across a group of Eremites, observe them before attacking.
If you do so, you'll be able to see some of them dance while others applaud and strum along with musical instruments. You can also catch some playing card games and reacting to their wins or losses. One Eremite who has a musical instrument will even break it over her knee if you approach her.
3 🤡 Pyro And Electro Affect All Fungi 🧜
During your travels in Sumeru, you'll get a tutorial about how Pyro and Electro affect mushroom-like creatures differently. Using Pyro will scorch them while using Electro will activate them. But this doesn't just apply to the fungi in the overworld; even fungi enemies are affected.
Besides its appearance changing, if you scorch a fungus enemy, its damage and knockback potential increase while its speed decreases. Activated fungi enemies have their speed increased. Also, scorching or activating enemies will increase the drop rate of certain items, while decreasing th꧂e drop rate of others.

On top of that, parts of the Irminsul tree show up as the Leylines we know in every region. Since Leylines record everything that happens in Teyvat, this is all transferred to the Irminsul tree. The trees in Domains are also Irminsul trees. So, Irminsul trees are not a new thing in Genshin, but they're part of a much bigger system that records all kinds of data.
