It's been a little while since we've had a new Gears of War game, with the last one coming all the way back in 2019 in the form of Gears 5 (I still hate the name change). Sure, we've had a couple of smaller Gears-related titles in Gears Tactics, but it's been almost five years since we've had a mainline Gears of War title, which is a little surprising given that it's one of Xbox's biggest franchises. That does mean we're due for a new one though, and The Coalition has delivered, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:following rumors earlier this year.

While all the rumors had the next Gears of War game tipped as a followup to Gears 5, it appears as though The Coalition is headed into the past, as it announced Gears of War: E-Day. We didn't see much in terms of gameplay or story, as the trailer largely saw Marcus Fenix going a few rounds with a Locust soldier, before the floor collapsed and Dom appeared with Mad World in the background for that sweet emotional kick in the teeth.

Gears of War: E-Day Will Let Players Experience Emergence Day

After Dom rescues Marcus from falling into the bowels of Hell, the two look out at a large city that is on fire and under attack, showing us that the game will take place during the chaos of Emergence Day. For those that may not be familiar or need a refresher on your Gears of War lore, Emergence Day is known as the day on which the Locust Horde descended upon the human planet of Sera, and the major♚ity of the planet was destroyed by counter-attacks from Hammer of Dawn satellites.

It's a rather momentous day in the Gears of War franchise, one that players are often told about but never get to really explore. With this new title, it seems as though we'll finally be able to do that with a young Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago. Unfortunately, we didn't get a release window for the title, suggesting it will be a ways off, but at least we now have confirmation that a new Gears game is on the way.
