FrayMakers, an indie platform fighting game developed by McLeod Gaming and created in a similar vein to the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Super Smash Bros crossover fighting game series, is currently in early access and has a smaller roster than its contemporaries. However, since it won't be finished for a while, there's time for its roster to expand.
Like Super Smash Bros, FrayMakers has playable characters and assist characters from all matter of indie games. But because there have been so many indie titles over the years, you may not be familiar with all of them, and some cameos are more notabl﷽e than others.
10 Play꧑able Charac♏ter: CommanderVideo
CommanderVideo from the Bit.Trip series focuses on speed and aggression. CommanderVideo is all aboဣut sliding and kicking in different directions, outpacing and outmaneuvering any opponents in his way.
Most of CommanderVideo's special moves are homages to several games in the Bit.Trip series, as he can temporarily transform into the core from Bit.Trip Core and the paddle from Bit.Trip Beat or use the cannon from Bit.Trip Presents... Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien to damage his opponents. CommanderVideo may not be from the most graphically intensive series, but his speediness is something to look out for.
9 Assist Character: The🌌 Bard
The Bard from the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:rhythm adventure game Wandersong appears as an assist chara🐠cter in FrayMakers and creates a song wheel to protect the summoner from incoming attacks. Opponents who get too close to the song wheel are knocked back, with the Bard singing a note matching the used part of the wheel.
This ability reflects the main mechanic of Wandersong, as the Bard uses the different notes of his song wheel to fight against enemies, solve puzzles, and change the surrounding environment. It's too bad the Bards assist character song wheel isn't more similar to Clefairy's metronome in Super Smash Bros., as it could provide some interesting and unexpected variety.
8 🐷 Playable Character: Octodad ෴
Octodad, the titular character from Young Horses' notably strange yet intriguing Octodad series, is one of the playable characters featured in FrayMakers. Octodad uses his tentacles to his advantage, performing long-range attacks and preferring to fight opponents from a distance. Octodad will also find himself at a severe disadvantage when opponents get too close or become more aggressive.
Octodad's special moves include spinning his tentacles around to perform multi-hit attacks and grabbing and flinging his opponents up or down. Octodad may seem silly from his concept and game series, but this 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:suit-wearing cephalopod is not a character to be messed with.
7 ꧒ Assist Character: The Ape
The Ape from Devolver Digital's violent top-down action game Ape Out appears as an assist character in Fraymakers. When summoned, The Ape will appear in front of its summoner and run in the opposite direction, powerfully throwing any opponents it runs into. It can also launch opponents toward its summoner for a follow-up attack if timed correctly.
The Ape's assist technique doesn't exactly reflect its abilities seen in Ape Out, but that's because it would be unfair. In Ape Out, the Ape can kill enemies with its bare hands, so we're lucky that it didn't end up being able to instantly kill nearby opponents in FrayMakers.
6 🔯 Assist ꧅Character: Diogenes
Diogenes, the main playable character from the strangely challenging yet conceptually silly indie game Getting Over It With Bennet Foddy, is another assist character that appears in FrayMakers. Like in his game, when summoned, Diogenes uses🐷 his hammer to launch himself forward across the stage, knocking back any opponents that might b🐓e in his way.
What's interesting is that Diogenes' hammer is weak, but the pot he resides in is strong, so it's best to quickly plan where to summon him to get the most out of his abilities and successfully knock away any opponents that are lying in wait.
5 Assist C🌠haracter: Lea
Lea🐈 from CrossCode is yet another assist character in FrayMakers. When Lea is summoned, she fires five Virtual Richochet Projectiles that bounce around the stage and damage opponents. They can also cause damage to opponents repeatedly when aimed at them.
In CrossCode, Lea is an amnesiac who has entered the futuristic mind-linking online game CrossWorlds to try to find out about her past. Her class in CrossWorlds is Spheromancer, and she uses her Virtual Ricochet Projectiles to solve puzzles and defeat enemies. Although Lea has other abilities, having her assist character in FrayMakers imitate the game's key mechanic is excellent implementation.
4 Playable Character: The Watcher 🌞
The Watcher, the main character from 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Slay The Spire, also appears as a playable character in FrayMakers. The Watcher uses her staff for a variety of attacks based on 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:cards from her game and can switch between Divine Stances.
These Divine Stances are known as Calm, which allows her to jump higher, and Wrath, which grants her faster movement and greater damage, but she will take more damage as a 🌜result. Each successful attack grants The Watcher one mantra, and once she has five, she can enter a Divinity state which combines her stances and gives her the ability to cancel attacks into each other.
3 As🥀si♋st Character: Pizza
Pizza is the main character from Chicory, who appears in their default appearance as an assist character in FrayMakers. When summoned, Pizza uses their paintbrush to paint the area directly in front of you. Any opponent who lands on the painted spot will t🌃hen receive damage any time they touch it.
This move reflects what Pizza does in their own game, as they paint all they can to bring color back to the world. Their assist character ability might not be as notable as others, but their inclusion in a game like FrayMakers helps signify their game's importance and relevance to the indie space.
2 ♌ Assist Character: The Crewmate/The Impostor ♈
Among Us was an immense success two years after its initial launch, in part due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and has remained a notable title ever since, making cameo appearances in other popular games like 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Fall Guys and Fortnite, so it's no surprise there would be a related cameo in an indie fighting game like FrayMakers.
The Crewmate serves as an assist character, and when summoned, they open an electrical panel to fix it. Depending on how often the assist command is pressed, the Cr﷽ewmate will either grant additional hit stun attacks to any player in their circle or end up ꧅being the impostor and stab all opponents in the circle.
1 Assist Character: Tankman 🐻
Tankman is the only character in FrayMakers not to be initially from an indie game. Serving as the logo for popular flash animation and game website Newgrounds from 2000 to 2018, Tankman, specifically, the 2006 redesign, is an assist character that fires a shell from his tank diagonally upward, hi♒tting any character in its path.
There are two reasons why Tankman is the best cameo appearance in FrayMakers so far. The first is that it's unexpected since he isn't from an indie game. The second is because many notable indie games got their start on Newgrounds before gaining enough notability to be officially released elsewhere.
