168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Final Fantasy 9 follows the protagonist Zidane as he and the friends he meets alongᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚ the way attempt to stop Queen Brahne and Kuja from causing war across Gaia. It’s revealed that Queen Brahne is being puppeted by Kuja and the nefarious Garland for their own benefit, using the wars she incites to complete Terra’s faiꦯled assimilation with Gaia.
The game leans heavily into ideas about 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:life and death and what it means to live life regardless of knowing that it will one day come to an end. The ending emphasizes these themes as Zidane and the party uncover Gꦿaia and Terra’s past. The ending features a lot of exposition from Garland that can be overwhelming to unpack, though this is important for understanding the game’s overall story.
The History Of Gaia And Terra
Many, many years before the game is set, Terra existed as its own planet, separate from Gaia. The people of Te𓆏rra were an advanced civilization; however, the planet’s crystal was weak, mea൲ning the planet’s life cycle wouldn’t be able to go on, and the civilization would eventually be lost to time.
Unable to accept the extinction of their planet, the Terrans contrived a plan to integrate with another planet with a strong crystal, hoping to disrupt that planet’s cycle and take its place. To do so, the Terrans created the Genome, Garland. They entrusted💫 him with their souls and the task of finding a suitable planet.
After Garland failed to fuse Terra and Gaia’s crystals, Terra became hidden inside Gaia. To stop the flow of Gaian souls entering the crystal, Garland planted the Iifa Tree on Gaia’s surface. This covered the continent in Mist, which was the by-product of Gaian souls who weren’t able to🌞 re-💖enter the crystal’s cycle.
As part of this plan, Garland created Kuja, a Genome, to act as the “Angel of Death” to provoke the people of Gaia and induce war across the continents.😼 This would speed up the rejection of Gaian souls and the production of Mist, allowing Terran souls to enter the crystal.
However, Garland deemed Kuja a failure because of his inability to enter Trance. As a result, he created Zidane to surpass Kuja, but Kuja, jealous and rejected, left Zidane alone on Gaia🐲. Zidane was unaware of his origins until Garland revealed them to him upon discover💟ing the rest of the Genomes waiting inside Terra.
The End Of Final Fantasy 9
Fuelled by his desire to learn how to Trance, Kuja absorbs the souls from the Invincible, a Terran airship holding many of the planet’s souls. Kuja kills Garland, but his presence remains, revealing to Kuja that h🐎is lifespan is limited, so his plan to rule the planet is doomed to fail.
Kuja becomes enraged and goes into a frenzy, destroying Terra in the process. This causes the Iifa Tree to produce Mist at an accelerated rate. A portal to Memoria, a place created from the memories of all those who live on Gaia, appears above the Iifa Tree. Kuja enters Memoria in order to travel to the past and destroy the universe. Unable to come to terms with his own mortality, Kuja tells Zidane, “I won't let this world exist without me!”.
Entering Memoria
The party follows Kuja into Memoria. While in Memoria, the party fights the four guardians of Terra, given form again by Kuja by using the planet’s crystal. As the name implies, Memoria is made up of Gaia’s memories. At first, it shows the party their memories, but the further they go in, more memories from across the planet's surface start appearing.
The first memory Zidane witnesses is from Garnet’s past - Garnet and her birth mother, Jane, flee from Madain Sari in a boat during a storm after Garland attacked the Summoner village, fearing the eidolons. Zidane questions how he’s able to see one of Garnet’s memories and asks Garl🍒and why this might be.
The disembodied voice of Garland replies, “What you just saw was from your memory, and not Garnet’s.” This implies that other people’s memories can become your own because the memories of the planet are all contained within the crystal. While it’s ambiguous, it’s possible that this memory was held within the soul of Garnet’s bi🌼rth mother.
Deeper Into Memoria
Garland tells Zidane of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:a powerful eidolon that existed during an age of war on Gaia, which was split into four pieces by the Summoners and placed in four places around the world. This eidolon Garland speaks of is Alexander, which Garnet and Eiko summo🐲ned earli👍er in the game to protect Alexandria.
Zidane then witnesses Terra’s assimilation with Gaia, as Terra, an old planet, needed to 𒆙fuse with a young planet to harness that planet’s crystal. By trying to save their own planet, the Terrans creatꦚed destruction for another.
The party travels 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:so far back in time thཧat they see the origin of Gaia, where it was covered in water, and the fiery birth of the planet itself. Going even further back, Zidane walks through space, before the plane𝔍ts existed.
Following Garland’s voice, the party enters a realm beyond space, where Garland explains the true meaning of memories. Life is connected to one another, and thus, the memories of everyone on the planet are interconnected through generations. Not many people understand this, and focus on♒ their own individual memories instead of considering how they are all connected.
Garland informs Zidane to protect the cryst🍰al, which is the center poiꦡnt for all memories, and to prevent Kuja from destroying it.
Confronting Kuja
Zidane and the party enter the Crystal World and confront Kuja, who sum💯mons Deathguise to attack the party.
After defeating Deathguise, the party fights Kuja in his Trance form. Once he is beaten, the party is transported to an unknown realm and is spoken to by a mysterious voice who claims to be the “darkness of eternity.” It says that those who live fear death and will die despite the fact that they struggle against it. Zidane disputes this nihilistic view of life and death, stating that, even if he and the party were to die, they’ll live on in the lives that they have touched through their memories.
The voice reveals itself to be Necron, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:an embodiment of death itself. Necron retreats after witnessing the party’s strong will to live. The party is then teleported back ❀to Gaia, where they can see the I♊ifa tree, which is about to collapse. Regent Cid, with the help of Mikoto, locates the party and lands the Hilda Garde 3 in order to rescue them and fly them to safety.
Zidane, hearing Kuja’s voice in his head, decides to stay behind and rescue Kuja despite the party’s objections. Zidane has a heartfelt moment where he says goodbye to everyone before traveling back into the Iifa Tree. Despite the destruction Kuja caused, Zidane refuses to leave him behind to die alone and empathizes with him, believing he might have done the same thing if he was in Kuja’s position.
As Mikoto makes her way to rescue Zidane, a voice, presumably Zidane’s or Mikoto’s, says that, while what he did was wrong, Kuja gave the Genomes hope by defying their fate. Even though it wasn’t intentional, Kuja was able to create a positive impact for the Genomes, as they’re now free to do as they please rather than being vessels for the Terran souls. The voice says that they want Kuja’s memory to “live on forever." This reinforces the game’s message that everyone deserves to be remembered and that memor𒀰ies connect us all.
Sometime Later…
An indeterminate amount of time later, a black mage resembling Vivi walks through the streets of Alexand⭕ria, mirroring the first time you see Vivi in the game. Puck mistakes the black mage for Vivi and is shocked to discover that it is, in fact, his son. A horde of black m🍨ages walks by soon after, all dressed exactly like Vivi.
The next scene involves Freya and Sir Fratley who talk about rebuilding Burmecia. Despite never recovering his lost memo𝔉ries, Sir Fratley has fallen in love with Freya again, with the two of🍎 them making new memories together.
You then see what each of the other characters are currently up to: Amarant and Lani make their way to Alexandria to see the play; Quina makes food in the castle’s kitchens; Eiko calls R🍰egent Cid “father” for the first time; Beatrix attempts to leave Alexand🔯ria, but Steiner stops her and convinces her to stay by his side and protect the new queen, Garnet.
The play “I Wan🍌t To Be Your Canary” begins with the actor playing Marcus eventually revealing himself to be Zidane, who calls for his “beloved Garnet”. The two embrace as the crowd cheers and “Melodies of Life&꧃rdquo; plays.
The only party member not to be shown in the final moments is Vivi, whose life span sadly came to an end shortly after the party departed from Zidane. However, he still has a presence in the ending through his monologue, where he thanks Zidane for teaching him “how important life is.” The monologue concludes with Vivi saying that his memories “will be part of the sky,” implying that his memories have joined Ga𓄧ia’s crystal after his passing.
Narrative Foils: Kuja And Vivi
The ending of Final Fantasy 9 teaches us that 🌜all life is precious, and you must live life to the fullest instead of dwelling on the fact that🐎 your life will one day come to an end. Kuja and Vivi are narrative foils in this sense, as Kuja wanted to destroy the universe after discovering that his life would soon end, rather than accepting the short life he had been given as Vivi does.
On the contrary, Vivi is able to come to terms with his fate. Through Zidane, he learnt that it’s important to live your life without regrets. Even though he’s gone, Vivi lives on in the memories of others, meaning he’ll always be a part o🌸f them.
This ties togethe♓r the game’s themes of life and death and the memories we leave behind, as the game teaches you to live life as you want to, leaving behi༒nd memories for others to remember you by.
