One 🐈of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's earliest side quests💖 involves the hunt for a tough terror.

But, first things first, Chadley needs you to get your hands on another Protorelic, exce🅰pt this one has a strange twist, having you fight for your life in several matches of Fort Condor. This strategy-based mini-game is much more simplified than what was present in the Intergrade expansion from the previous installment!

Fort Condor Overview

The Cloud Strife Hero Unit being summoned in a game of Fort Condor in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

As briefly cover💜ed above, the Fort Condor mini-game present in Rebirth is a bit different and more simplified than the one found in the Interg🅷rade expansion of Remake. Even so, it can be challenging if you aren't familiar with the rules.

Before diving into the first instance of Fort Condor, let's cover the basics. First things first, Fort Condor operates on a 'Rock, Paper, Scissors' system, which goes as follows:

  • Shield (Blue) beats Sword (Red)
  • Sword (Red) beats Bow (Green)
  • Bow (Green) beats Shield (Blue)

Hero Units

Next, this iteration of Fort Condor also has Hero Units, which you can place on the field of battle for tremendous damage and offensive prowess. To do this, you must fill up their Hero Gauge by placing units of their class onto the board.

For example, since Cloud is a Shield Unit, you must place Shield Units on the field to build his Hero Gauge up. Once it's maxed out, you can place Cloud on the board by pressing L1 twice and selecting him from the Hero Menu. The tableꦰ below will have even more information on H🍷ero Units!

Incoming Enemy Units

Before we move on, it is crucial to point out that you can see all incoming Enemy Units and the lanes they will be coming down in by looking at the two long tracks on the UI on the right side oℱf the screen, below the timer.

This is crucial because if you see an Arrow Unit queueing up on the left lane, you can swiftly toss a Sword Unit into that lane to counter them when they arrive, enabling you to secure that lane even furthe🐲r and push the towers!

Junon Region - Phenomenon Intel 1: The World Of Fort Condor

Now that the basics have been tackled, it's time to dive into the first of four Fort Condor games you must tackle to get your hands on the Protorelic in the Junon Region. To begin this, head to the southwest corner of the region and head toward the large boat that's split in half on the shore. Interact with the ♔Fort Condor board in the area🤪.

Fort Condor Skirmish Strategy

We suggest sticking with Cloud and Tifa as your primary Hero Unit to prevail in this skirmish. The default Unit Group will also suffice, as the challenge won't be too intense just yet.🌠 If you place your troops correctly, you will have theirꦬ Warlord destroyed in minutes.

The moment the skirmish kicks off, the enemy will send two Sword Units down the right lane, meaning you must send at least one Shield Unit down the right lane to counter them. We suggest sending one Shield Unit and one of your Clerics dow🤪n this lane, as they🌳 will be handy for healing.

Next, you will see two Arrow Units being queued for the left lane, but they won't be out on the field for a bit. This gives you ample time to save up for an Elite Vanguard (Sword Unit), which will make quick work of them in that lane. Doing these steps off the bat will also fill both Hero Gauge🗹s quite well.

From here, you're in the driving seat and can see what they're about to throw your way miles before they appear, giving you ample time to place the Units necessary to counter their attack. And, once your Hero Gauges are full, summon Cloud and Tifa onto the battlefield to secure your victory!

Junon Region - Phenomenon Intel 2: O Captain! My Captain!

The location of the second Phenomenon Intel on your map in the Junon Region in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Just east of the previous Fort Condor match, you will find the second one awaiting you on an island. Approach the board and interact wi🐽th it just like last time to be pulled into the game and ready your units.

Fort Condor Skirmish Strategy

Unlike the previous match, you will want to select Tifa and Barret as your Hero Units this time around, as they will be much more helpful in the grand scheme of things. However, like last time, the default Unit Group will be more than enough for victory.

When the game begins, place an Elite Enforcer (Shield) in the right lane, followed by a standard Enforcer (Shield) to combat the incoming Sword Units from the enemy. Then, call in your Cleric Unit along with a standard Vanguard (Sword) to dea𒁏l with the other incoming enemy Units🍌.

The left lane will be pretty bare for a while, so take this opportunity to hit the right lane hard. If you can counter everything they're throwing at you in the right lane and get Tifa summoned in, you will secure victory relatively e🥃ffortlessly.

After a prolonged period, the left lane will get some action in the form of Shield Units, so retaliate with Arrow Units to further build up Barret's Hero Gauge. If that reaches max capacity, we suggest tossing him into the right lane with Tifa to win even faster!

Junon Region - Phenomenon Intel 3: Princess In Another Castle

The location of the third Phenomenon Intel on your map in the Junon Region in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Further east from the previous Fort Condor board, across the enormous bridge, will be the third challenge, which is a bit more challenging than the la🌜st two. However, you will have it beaten quickly with the proper strategies and insights!

Fort Condor Skirmish Strategies

Just like the last skirmish, you will want to roll with Barret and Tifa as your Hero Units. The default Unit Group will also work nicely for this matchup as well, so don't worry about changing that. While this will be a bit more challenging than the others, it's not♏ by much, so expect more of the same here!

At the start of the skirmish, we suggest placing the Cleric Unit and an Elite Ranger (Bow) in the right lane to counter the incoming enemy forces in that lane. Then, for the left lane, you will have more than enough time to wait for an Elite Vanguard Unit (Sword) to counter the incoming Bow Unit.

From here, we recommend placing yet another Cleric Unit in the right lane, as things will get a bit rocky there in a moment. Following that, you should place another Elite Vanguard (Sword) in the left lane to offer greater support in that lane. Then, you should toss a standard Shield Unit into the right lane to help ward off the lone enemy Sword Unit.

After that, the left lane will need at least a standard Bow Unit to help eliminate the enemy's Shield Units. We suggest placing two Bow Units into the left lane and summoning Tifa there afterward to help eliminate the opponent's in꧙coming Shield Units.

Call in another Bow Unit to fill Barret's Hero Gauge, but hold onto him for now and let your current Units take out the towers and converge onto the boss. Call in an Elite Enforcer Unit and a standard one (Shield), then another Sword Unit before dropping Barret into the mix.ꦑ Onc✃e he's out, it's game over for your opponent. Just keep dropping in units as you see fit and close it out!

Junon Region - Phenomenon Intel 4: Interdimensional Warlock

The location of the fourth Phenomenon Intel on your map in the Junon Region in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

In the northeast corner of the region, the fourth and final Fort Condor skirmish awaits you, offering a decent challenge to cap things off. However, if you've made it this far, you will be more than ready to take down you𝓀r opponent and secu♑re the region's Protorelic!

Fort Condor Skirmish Strategy

Just like the previous two skirmishes, Tifa and Barret will serve as your Hero Units, with the default Unit Group being your go-to for victory. Once in the skirmish, your first move should be placing a Cleric Unit and an Elite Enforcer Unit (Shield) into the right lane.

From there, placing an Elite Vanguard (Sword) into the left lane along with a standard Bow Unit will help take care of that lane for the time being. Following that, toss another Cleric Unit into the right lane and a standard Bow Unit into the left lane for extra security.

Your next step will be to wait for an Elite Vanguard Unit (Sword) to come online and toss it into the left lane, bringing Tifa online. But don't use her just yet. Turn your focus onto the right lane and drop an Elite Ranger (Bow) there to help secure the lane.

You should now have access to Tifa and Barret. First, summon Tifa in, alongside another Sword Unit, and hold off on calling Barret in. The boss in the center of the enemy's base will change its attack type, so wait for it to switch to a Shield before calling Barret in. From here on out, just focus on calling in Units that counter what the boss has selected, and you are golden!

Clearing the fourth Fort Condor challenge will grant you the Protorelic of the Junon Region, along with anoth⛦er sick cutscene that makes your struggles worth it. Additionally, a Hard Mode of Fort Condor will also become available if you want the ultimate challenge!
