We'll tackle all stages of this monstrosity's latest form, helping you to overcome Jenova in all her monstrous splendor before she can overwhelm you in t🌠urn.

Jenova Emergent Boss Fight Overview

Jenova Emergence using the Vengeance attack in FF7 Rebirth

Jenova Emergent grows in form and strength as the battle wages. At around 90 percent, and then again at about 55 percent, and finally at around 25-30 percent, she'll become larger.

During the midway point, Jenova leaps from the walls to the floor, and this is when things go wild. Basically, Jenova has more attacks up her sleeve in each phase.

She'll begin with a single linear-arc laser that's relatively easy to evade, as well as an irritating attack called Pestilential Reckoning, which deals damage and inflicts negative status effects.

The game has a fairly generous window in which it informs you that Pestilential Reckoning is en route. When this happens, retreat backward somewhat to get out of harm's way.

Retribution is like the initial laser attack, Vengeance, on overdrive. Multiple lasers spew forth, so it's more difficult to dodge. When you're struck, your character will be sent skyward for several seconds, so swap to someone else to maintain momentum.

The real fun begins when Jenova reaches the floor. Expect to see her dart across the battlefield several times using her appendages to strike for several hundred points of damage as she does.

Jenova Emergent Boss Fight Strategy

Jenova Emergence blasted by Barret in a ruined battlefield in FF7 Rebirth

First things first: Jenova has no weaknesses. This means you shouldn't go all-in with elemental magic. It's not that it won't be effective; it just doesn't provide any noteworthy edge, whereas conventional attacks like Barret's Overcharge and Tifa's Dive Kick are reliable regulars.

Pressuring Jenova means destroying its appendages, and for a mercy, they tend to shatter pretty easily. At first, it's just the head. Later on, more pieces will sprout. It's generally best to focus on one at a time, since they'll go down quickly.

Mind you, Jenova will regrow appendages over time. But when this happens, think of it as a mixed bless♔ing - you can stagger her all over again.

Try to time the appendage-shattering stagger-building for when your characters all have at least one, preferably two, ATB charges at the ready. Those stagger phases are precious lifeblood through which we will emerge the victors here, and we want to be ready to unleash on Jenova.

Synergy Abilities and Limit Breaks are always good, and the Item Economizer Materia should be equipped to someone for its occasional no-charge healing actions.

This will prove to be of vital import at the midway mark, when you may find yourself in need of potions 🌄every few seconds.
