Trophies and PlayStation go together like... well, like achievements and Xbox. has no shortage of trophies (naturally), and as is commonplace, plenty of them will be handed out like candy as rewards for engaging in Rebirth's gameplay systems on a surface level.

Myyy♚y friend! It is time! Let us be your guide, your guru, your delightful and steadfast ally, in ಌyour clash with the one and only Rooooche!

Others are going to take some work. Quite a bit of work, in some cases. Just how much? We're here to tell you. Out of all the trophies in FF7 Rebirth, these eight are the toughest nuts to crack. We've ranked them, too, so that you can see how they stack up against each other.

8 ꦑ Hall 𝓰Of Famer

Gold Saucer's chocobo ring in FF7 Rebirth

You've got to win every Chocobo Race that FF7 Rebirth will throw at you for the 'Hall of Famer' trophy. Some of these - several of the tracks that you'll only gain access to from Chapter 12 onward - can be pretty darn tough.

There's no chocobo breeding in Rebirth (we reckon that classic Final Fantasy 7 element is being saved for Part 3), which means this process isn't as time-consuming as it could have been.

But learning the ropes, and finding the right accessory and skill combinations that'll land you your victories, can be challenging.

7 𝓀 5-Star Startup

Johnny and another Johnny surrounding Cloud Strife in FF7 Rebirth

You've got to find the lion's share of FF7 Rebirth's curios for Johnny's Seaside Inn in order to qualify for the '5-Star Startup' trophy, and the game will make you work for it, believe us. Many curios are easy grabs; some are even automatically obtained. But many are decidedly less easy.

It adds up, literally and figuratively. Getting these means engaging with many of Rebirth's most arduous systems on a regular basis. It means getting high scores in some of the toughest mini-games - mini-games that, at least in our experience, could be pretty tough to begin with.

6 👍 Critically Acclaimed ﷽

Yuffie Date At The Gold Saucer

Nabbing S-rank performance during the (frankly spectacular) Loveless play sequence in Chapter 12 is intensely rewarding. The 'Critically Acclaimed' trophy is just icing on the cake. But it isn't especially painless. You've got to time things just so, and you've got to do so in style.

Loveless has a few fantastic deviations per player choices, but the QTE (quick-time-event) element is there no matter which route you choose. If you're not rock-solid at this, much like the Junon Parade, you're going to suffer before the battle is won.

5 🏅 Bladesman Of Legend

Wutai as seen in FF7 Rebirth

At the end of the Protorelic chain of side quests (each linked to a regional Phenomenon Intel), we go head-to-head with the one and only Gilgamesh. Well, er, not the Sumerian one. Not the Fate/Stay one, either. The one and only Final Fantasy Gilgamesh. Look, you knew what we meant.

At any rate, he's great. Gilgamesh hasn't been this cool, nor has he commanded this much of a presence, since his debut in Final Fantasy 5. His fight is breathtaking, with music that delivers on the fandom's perennial demand that any remix of 'Battle on the Big Bridge' be nothing short of perfect.

4 Polygoꦇnal Prizefighter

Ready to Rumble screen for FF7 Rebirth mini-game 3D Brawler

By the time we finished the inaugural batch of 3D Brawler opponents at the Gold Saucer, we felt pretty accomplished. The extra bouts against famous series-wide summons were far harder. But to earn the 'Polygonal Prizefighter' trophy, you've got to go toe-to-toe with Sephiroth himself. And you've got to win.

It's tough. Frankly, it's rough. Your mileage may vary - and we sincerely hope it does - because Sephiroth is just so fast and combo-savvy that our fingers hurt a bit by the time we won the day.

3 Virtually Renowne﷽d

Titan's fist rising from the combat simulator in FF7 Rebirth as Ramuh attacks

For 'Virtually Renowned', you must complete every Combat Simulator battle. Straightforward enough, but some of them are hard as nails. The lattermost engagements are predictably rigorous.

What caught us off-guard is the fact that a handful of earlier fights are also an ordeal. Take the rematch with the Mindflayer, for instance. It's not that the Mindflayer is all that menacing; the Combat Simulator rendition requires you to kill it before its pair of accompanying monsters, and that is no small feat.

It's twists like these that can turn the Combat Simulator into something extraordinary, and extraordinary moments require extraordinary measures.

2 My Job Here Is Done ✱

Kyrie from Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, giving Cloud and company another quest to complete.

'My Job Here is Done' mandates that players complete every quest in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Not only is this obviously quite time-consuming, but a few of these quests are rather involved. Well, actually, a fair number are, but a few are involved and hard.

The single biggest obstacle, however, comes in the form of 'Can't Stop Won't Stop', a late-game side quest starring the Shinra Middle Manager (capitalization intentional!) who stole our hearts with his antics in Remake.

You've got to best some pretty high scores of his at Gold Saucer attractions. Doing so means effectively mastering the mechanics of each, so it's going to be an ordeal.

1 ♌ 💟7-Star Startup

Treasure Trove at FF7 Rebirth's Seaside Inn

Is it cheating that we wrap this with the higher-tier variant of a trophy we've already mentioned? Honestly? No, it is not. Because '7-Star Startup' is the ultimate achievement. Well, the platinum trophy's the real winner-take-all in that regard, but we're not counting that.

You've got a whopping 88 curios to obtain if you want this trophy. We mentioned that 'Can't Stop Won't Stop' requires you to engage deeply with every Gold Saucer attraction, but '7-Star Startup' requires the same for darn near everything in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

Johnny doesn't know how good he has it if Cloud commits to this in full. It's the irrefutible proof that you've experienced Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's off-kilter aspects to their fullest, and likely bruised a thumb in the process.
