I work in an industry where it behoves me to keep up with everything. Playing all of the latest games, and even staying on top of hard-hitting television shows or films, is folded into what I do at my day job, and falling behind means I’ll struggle♍ for ideas.

Content makes the world go round and all that. So, even if I’m covering a behemoth like 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, I will naturally be compelled to move onto something else once I roll credits. But the trouble is, for the first time in years, I just don’t want to. I want to do absolutely everything in Cloud’s massive sequel, purely because 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Square Enix has ensured ꧃that🌱 the act of revisiting its world is so inviting.

I am cu🐻rrently 85 hours deep into my Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth 🌊save file, having just cleared the Gold Saucer Chocobo Gold Cup and most of the open world side activities.

When reviewing an open world RPG like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, where narrative plays a huge role, you are staring down the barrel of a gun to hit the review embargo. Despite having two weeks with the game, I knew I need🐭ed to reach the end as its conclusion would have a significant impact on my final judgement, and if I failed to reach credits, I’d feel like a failure. Soဣ I pushed forward, hoping that there was a balance to be struck between progressing through the main story and spending several hours also flirting with the open world. It turns out I was setting myself up for crunching disappointment.

Despite having fewer chapters than Remake, Rebirth is a much longer game. Even if you’d decided to mainline the story, it would still take longer given all the open wor🥂ld exploration and mandatory minigames folded into the primary route, not to mention the game challenges you with tough boss battles, even on the standard difficulty. So it befits players to see as ܫmany side activities as they can, while also taking in the open world with a rhythm that not only respects your time, but also everything the game thinks you really must see.

I had no problem clearing everything in the Grasslands🌱 and Junon, basking in the glow of my first week with the game where meeting embargo felt like a distant obstacle. Wasting five or so hours in Costa del Sol however, was a sign that ꦕI needed to pull my socks up. The Corel and Nibelheim regions became a whirlwind or recruiting chocobos and only ever dipping into side activities, to the point where I audibly groaned at the 50-hour mark when some citizens in Cosmo Canyon had the cheek to introduce a new strategy minigame when I’d convinced myself I was only a matter of hours from the finish line.

My advice would be to clear all the available green quests before heading back to the Gold Saucer for a second time, largely to help with character affinity and dating prospe♉cts.

But as I gained control of the Tiny Bronco and entered the Gold Saucer for a second time, I knew the final act was in sight. Then a friend of mine said I had at least five hours of linear story-based chapters and stages🔴 to come once I entered the Temple of the Ancients. And so brewed a pot of coffee and prepared for an all-nighter. It was 3am a couple of nights before the embargo when I finally hit credits, and after that I couldn’t help but reload into Chapter 12 to take on everything I’d missed. There was so much left on the table, and I co🐈uldn’t wait.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth - Party Member Screen

Rebirth’s approach to New Game+ is surprisingly innovative. After beating the game, you are allowed 𝓡to load into💙 any of the game’s chapters with your current party, level, and equipment intact, meaning tackling harder difficulty settings or earning Trophies tied to levels and quests is a relative breeze. You’ll still need to put a shift in, but I love how a single save file can act as a homebase for levelling up your party and cleaning up anything and everything Rebirth has to offer.

As I jumped back in the day after embargo, hours began to melt away as I saw through the remaining side quests, went on several Gold Saucer dates, and became one of the world’s greatest Queen’s Blood players. Everything you do offers up cool rewards, and not to mention the additional characterisation and world building from doing even the most pedestrian of activities. I wrote previously about ♌Rebirth being the Goldilocks of open world game des🍌ign, because it never feels too small or 🌺too big. Everything is just right.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth - endgame map with quests and all six regions

I ha𝓰ven’t stumbled across a single thing in my quest for the Platinum Trophy that had me groan in frustration about having to push through unfair obstacles, becaus🐭e Rebirth so keenly hands out accommodations, or understands that the majority of players will want to explore this world beyond the main narrative, mining it for everything it has to offer. Critics can come to resent games they play under the oppressive weight of a tight embargo.

I know I have in the past. I beat Remake in a similar 🅷timeframe at the height of the pandemic, and only now have I returne♕d for a replay after Rebirth whet my appetite. The sequel is so much more accomplished, and also quite a different game with design conventions which make it so much easier to savour every moment, even if you’re revisiting them after hitting credits for the first time.

Games like Unico🐭rn Overlord, Rise of the Ronin, and Dragon’s Dogma 2 are breathing down my neck as we speak, but my heart still belongs to Final Fantasy 7 Rebi🎉rth.
