Both characters are known for their intelligence, but Tomes isn't the fighting type like Cid, and is best suited to a lot of reading. Although, Tomes admits he's tired of having to read so often.

Some argue that Jill's personality and role in the story reminds them of Tifa Lockheart, while others would say that Jill is Ashe from Final Fantasy 12 with long hair. In the looks department, Jill definitely looks more like Ashe. It also doesn't help that they're both nobles who lost everything—a very convenient coincidence.
They have similar facial features and gray eyes. The only difference they have excluding their clothes and hair length is their hair color: Ashe has sandy blonde hair, but could sometimes pass off as gray. Jill's hair is a clearer shade of gray.
