How To Unlock Crystalline Conflict
If you've already unlocked PvP, you won't need to take steps to participate in Crystalline Conflict. If you haven't already unlocked PvP, you'll need to do that by completing your Grand Company's variant of the quest 'A Pup No Longer.' You'll need to be Level 30 in any disciple of war to take on this quest.
The quest 'A Pup No Longer' can be found by talking to an NPC in your grand company: specifically, players in the Maelstrom Grand Company will need to talk to R'ashaht Rhiki in Limsa Lominsa - Upper Decks (X:13.1, Y:12.8).
Players in the Immortal Flames Grand Company will need to talk to Swift in Ul'Dah - Steps of Nald (X:8.4, Y:8.9). Players in the Twin Adders Grand Company will need to speak to the NPC Vorsaile Heuloix in New Gridania (X:9.7, Y:11.1).
Completing this quest will give you access to the special PvP zone Wolves' Den Pier in addition to the ability to play the Crystalline Conflict PvP mode.
How To Play Crystalline Conflict
To get started playing Crystalline Conflict, you'll need to select it from the Duty Finder. You can choose either Casual or Ranked modes.
Casual matches will not count against your official progress as seen on your PvP profile, whereas Ranked matches will count towards your rank.
Once registered for the Duty, you'll soon be matched into a team. You'll either be placed in team Umbra or team Astra, which have a blue and red color scheme, respectively. Each team has five players.
The objective of Crystalline Conflict is simple: move the 'tactical crystal' from the center of the map to a goal point at the other end of the map to achieve victory.
The opposing team is attempting to do the same thing, and the teams will attack each other to maintain control over the Crystal's movement. Crystalline Conflict matches last for a maximum of five minutes. If no winner is found during t🐈hat time, overtime 𓂃will begin.
Crystalline Conflict: Start
At the beginning of the match, you'll have a short period where each team is locked in opposite corners of the map. After a short countdown, you'll be freed, and you should start running to the Crystal in the center of the map as soon as possible.
For a short period at the beginning of the match, the tactical Crystal you need to move will be locked in place.
It will eventually become unshackled, allowing the team that stands in the ring marker while uncontested to move it forward along a designated path.
If players of the enemy team are in the ring at the same time, the Crystal will not move. This is the game's 'Player Versus Player' part, where you kill the enemy team to ensure you can move the Crystal.
Crystalline Conflict: Moving The Crystal
If you are moving the Crystal after the other team has already made more progress than your team, the Crystal will move faster. If the Crystal reaches a point it has already reached before, it will also move faster. The speed increases are small but noticeable.
Throughout the map, the Crystal will also reach various checkpoints where it will briefly pause. The team moving the Crystal must stay in the Crystal's AoE and defend it while waiting for it to continue to move along the trac𒉰k.
If the game goes past five minutes into overtime, the conditions for a win will change slightly: If your team has made more progress moving the Crystal towards the goal, you will simply need to kill the ot💃her players within the Crystal's ring to win.
On the other hand, if you have less progress than the other team, you will simply need to overtake them to win. Lastly, if both teams are at the same level of progress or the Crystal hasn't moved (a rare occurrence), one team will merely need to gain more progress to win.
Patch 6.5 Updates
With Patch 6.5, a circle will appear for the losing team, indicating where they must move the Crystal in order to take the lead in Crystalline Conflict. Additionally, you can also see where you must get the Crystal in the Progress Gauge at the top of the screen.
If the trailing team fails to move the Crystal into the highlighted area before the time expires, they will lose the match, even if the opposing team fails to move the Crystal into your base. The overall HUD has also been cleaned up, making things much clearer and easier to obtain informatio⭕n from at a glance!
Tips For Winning Crystalline Conflict
Despite being a pretty simple game, there are a few strategies to consider when playing Crystalline Conflict, as a match can be over in the blink of an eye if you or your team are focusing on the wrong things, leaving the Cr♐ystal open to the enemy to surround and push into you🅺r base!
General Approach
The best approach to Crystalline Conflict generally is to stay close to your team and form a cohesive unit. The more you separate from your team, the harder the process of moving🎶 the Crystal will be, as the enemy team can easily gang up on players who are on their own.
If an entire team is wiped out, the remaining players on the opposing side will be able to push the Crystal a substantial distance, which can spark a comeback or be the fin�🐓�al nail in the coffin for the eliminated team.
Map Knowledge And Gimmicks
There are Jump Glyphs and Sprint Zones on each map that you can use to quickly move to specific parts of the map. Seek these out the first time you 𒊎play each map to get used to the best routes for moving quickly.
Additionally, each map will have a hazard associated with it: expect turbulence and volcanic eruptions to interrupt your match.
Medicine Kits will sometimes appear in the margins of the map, granting whoever passes through them 30,000 HP. Keep an eye out for them whenever they appear, as they can be tremendousཧly helpful when pushing the Crystal.
Combat Information And Strategy
The Weapon Skills and Actions you'll use in PvP are slightly different from standard content. Although mo𝐆st of them are principally the same, some abilities will not be usable in PvP, and others wi🎃ll have altered potencies or effects.
- Read the PvP versions of your tooltips in the Actions & Traits menu or PvP profile before playing.
Players will move erratically and quickly to avoid attacks, so get used to the basics of targeting and become familiar with the dista🍌nce required for each of 🦂your attacks so you know when it's safe to engage.
Draw enemies out of the ring by engaging them with ranged attacks or use abilities that will lock them in place outside of the ring, giving your teammates a chance to step into the ring and s🐲tart moving the Crystal.
The Clockwork Castletown Overview (Patch 6.3 Update)
The Clockwork Castletown Map is a new Crystalline Conflict Map added alongside Patch 6.3 and is available to play in both Custom and Ranked Play matches. Unlike all the other maps in the mode, The Clockwork Castletown Map is filled with gimmicks and trickery, which can throw players for a loop who are looking for ꦏa fair fight.
While the rules of Crystalline Conflict remain the same, you will constantly have to battle against the stage just as much as your fellow opponents, allowing the tides to turn rather swiftly if you aren't ready for a specific mechanic or get caught off guard by them. Trick Doors
Trick Doors can be a blessing for you or will make your life miserable, and there is no in-between. These Trick Doors are represented as Gates with a slight fog around them, allowing you to approach and enter them, only to be teleported across the map with no return path back through the Trick Door.
Initially, you may find these useless or disruptive if you stumble into one and suddenly get thrown away from your team. However, once you learn of its gimmick, you can use these Trick Doors to escape sticky situations and remain alive.
While you will never know where it will spit you o🥂ut at until you pass through it, using it as a last-ditch effort to squirm your way out of death will always be your best option.
Trick Floors
In contrast to the Trick Doors, we have Trick Floors, which are Tatami Mats that will begin flipping in the air with tremendous speed if you remain on them for an extended period of time.
Unlike the Trick Doors, you cannot use these to your advantage and will instead receive damage after being flung high into the air from the Tatami Mat. We advise staying off these things as much as possible, as it doesn't take long to trigger them to begin their deadly twirls that will surely have the 🎃enemy capitalize on your misfortune.
However, you will have to interact with them at one point or another, so just be cautious of what they're capable of and do not overstay your welcome on them. Be sure to periodically step off of them to reset the timer or risk disrupting yourself and your teammate's proꦯgress at pushing ꦫthe Crystal!
Pneumatic Parade
Lastly, we have the Pneumatic Parade, which will trigger a random event roughly halfway through the match. There are three possible outcomes for this random event, with all three having different ways to resolve or use to your advantage. The Red Sands Overview (Patch 6.51 Update)
Patch 6.51 brought with it a brand-new Arena to fight over a Crystal in, The Red Sands, which takes its lead from the following Clockwork Castletown Arena, bringing many gimmicks and surprises along with it.
As seen with The Clockwork Castletown Map, all the rules remain intact within The Red Sands Arena. Still, several new obstacles will be thrown into the mix that you mus☂t be on high alert for and know how to deal with properly or risk getting blindsided by them. Shifting Sands
Shifting Sands are narrow, fast-moving pathways of sand that you can jump onto and ride to other parts of The Red Sands Arena, serving as a shortcut of sorts, enabling you to use them for flanking or quickly reaching the Crystal!
Sandpits
While moving the Crystal, you will see Sandpits next to each Checkpoint. Upon reaching these Checkpoints with the Crystal, one of three denizens of the Arena will emerge from the Sandpit, launching unique actions that can compromise - or in some cases help - either team's efforts of maintaining or🌸 regaining control of theಌ Crystal.

The rare and colorful Acutender will emerge from the Sandpit and launch its Therapeutic Needles action, granting a Barrier to all in its AoE. The potency of its Barrierꦡ is determined by how many players are in the area of its action. |
Oasis
Entering the Oasis in The Red Sands will grant an HP Regeneration buff while within the Oasis and for a brief moment upon exiting it, ♌making it an excellent way to get a sli🌺ght edge over your competition!
Heat Waves
In addition to Sandpits, you will encounter Heat Waves, which will periodically deal damage to all players throughout the course of ﷽the match.
In addition to this, you will also encounter Balming Geysers from the previously mentioned Sandpits, which serve as relief from the Heat Waves. Standing within a Balming Geyser will grant the Sandpearl Shroud buff, boosting your Limit Gauge and providing HP Regeneration.
If a Balming Geyser is currently erupting, no denizen of The Red Sands will be able to emerge from the Sandpit, but it will no longer serve as a point of relief, as the pressure from the erupting Geyser will deal damage to you and knock you back.
Crystalline Conflict Arena Rotations
With the addition of The Red Sands Arena in Crystalline Conflict, the Map Rotation has also been updated.
The list below is the current Map Rotation of Crystalline Conflict, which is on a 90-minute rotation, meaning only one map will be playable for a full 90 Minutes, where it𝓡 will then be replaced with the one that🍒 follows it on the list!
