This shines thr🥂ough with characters such as Gato, who was one of the best characters in Mark of the Wolves and is even better in this game, thanks to the new system mechanics. If you loved Gato way back then, he will surely still be your main now, and that's mor✤e or less the case for the entire cast!

Gato Overview

Gato activating his Freeze Fang Redline Gear against Terry Bogard in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.

Gato is a very robust and fascinating character in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, as he is a rushdown fighter with a strong neutral game, making him a force to be reckoned with from close to mid-range, which plays into his unique stance and options. While he can be a lot of fun to play, he can be very complex if this is your first time with the series.

In most scenarios, Gato will be fishing for a confirm off a poke, allowing him to lead directly into a short and sweet combo that deals substantial damage. He's also very strong at baiting his opponent into making mistakes, enabling him to land a Counter Hit, which can lead to massive damage with an optim🐎al combo.

Overall, with his Lull stance play, we wouldn't say Gato is beginner-friendly. He may not be overly complex, but he's certainly not for newcomers to the series or genre either. If you want to play him, we strongly recommend tackling his Combo Challenges first and experimenting with him in the Training Mode!

Gato Command List

Gato delivering his devastating Dragon Fang Redline on Terry Bogard in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.

Before dropping a list of devastating combos on you for Gato, we're going to lay out his Command List first, as it will give you a general idea of how he's played. These moves are crucial to his game plan and will be in every single one of his combos, so it's best to understand what they are and how to input them before learning his combos.

While he technically only has four Special Moves, the levels of each Special Move make it far more extensive than you may think, allowing him to go directly into other actions after performing one of these Specials. This is also what makes his gameplay so dominant yet complex, if you're not accustomed to this type of playstyle🎃!

Gato Tips And Tricks

Gato executing his Shin Tenryuu Retsuga Hidden Gear on Terry Bogard in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.

Wrapping this guide up will be a few more tips and tricks for Gato, allowing you to take even more advantage of his unique backturn stance and his odd rushdown neutral hybrid playstyle. Like most characters in Fatal Fury: City of the Wol🧔ves, Gato iꦛs very hard to stop once he gets on a roll.

In general, Gato's c.HP (FE) > ⬇️ HP will be his default combo starter, allowing him to go into a wide range of Special Moves to carry out devastating combos. And, if you don't want to spend meter, his Lull Stance (⬇️↙️⬅️ LP/HP) is an excellent way to extend combos without using any meter, such as the combo below:

  • c.HP (FE) > ⬇️ HP > ⬇️↙️⬅️ HP, HP, LP > ⬇️↘️➡️ LP, LP

Despite the combo using no meter whatsoever and being relatively short, it deals 292 Damage, which is nothing to sniff at. As we mentioned earlier, one of Gato's massive strengths is his ability to confirm into short but devastating combos, and this is just a small sample of that!
