In Fallout 4, settlers are NPCs who can be recruited to inhabit and work in your settlements. Settlements are player-controlled locations scattered throughout the Commonwealth.

Settlers are essential for the growth and prosperity of your settlements, as they perform various tasks, such as farming, scavenging, guarding, and operating shops.

Before you can start attracting settlers to your settlements, you need to gain access to the settlement-building feature in the game. To do this, you should progress through the early-game main questline until you reach Concord.

There, you'll encounter Preston Garvey and the group of settlers he leads. Completing the When Freedom Calls quest in Concord will unlock the Sanctuary settlement and introduce you to the basics of settl😼ement 🎃building.

After unlocking the Sanctuary settlement, make sure to complete the associated quest, Sanctuary. This quest not on📖ly familiarizes you with settlement-building mechanics but also encourages more settlers to join your community as a result of your efforts in ๊restoring Sanctuary Hills.

How To Attract More Settlers

Once you've got your very own slice of post-apocalyptic paradise, it's time to invite some folks over. The Recruitment Radio Beacon is a crucial tool for this purpose. You can find it under the Power section of your workbench menu.

Construct one in each settlement you want to grow. This beacon broadcasts a signal that attracts potential settlers from the wasteland.

Provide Food, Water, and Beds

Your settlers aren't high-maintenance, but they do have some basic needs. Ensure that your settlement has an adequate supply of food, water, and beds. Build and assign sett𒉰lers to food-producing resources𝔉, such as crops and water pumps.

Each settler needs at least one bed𒀰, so build enough beds for your current and expected population.

Additionally, add decorations, entertainment items such as radios or televisions, and shops to improve happiness.

Consider building clinics, as they provide both medical services and increase settlement happiness.

What Can Settlers Do For You?

Apart from the obvious - populating those settlements to give you a sense of civilization-rebuilding satisfaction - there are several more tangible things for settlers to offer, and they'll be available for you toꦗ tap into on a routine basis.

Farming is probably the major go-to. Food is good! Food is needed. You can also make money on a passive basis through settlers. Those of us with the Survival Mode enabled will treasure another bed to sleep - and save the game - in.

If a settler is assigned to a first aid station, you can rely on them to treat your protagonist's injuries to the best of their ability. This includes healing, lower radiation, and even handle addiction issues.

Charisma is a key attribute for recruiting, attracting, and retaining settlers.

Charisma dialogue options can be particularly helpful in convincing people to join your settlement, but more importantly, the higher your Charisma stat, the more settlers you can have in your settlements. So be sure to level up your character and invest points in the Charisma attribute.

To boost your Charisma additionally, invest in Charisma-related perks such as Inspirational, Cap Collector, and Local Leader. Additionally, wear Charisma-boosting gear like suits, dresses, glasses, or hats.
