There are dozens and dozens of dishes yꦑou can cook.
Fae Farm gives you a couple quick crafting tasks during the beginning of the game, but the rest is up to you to figure out. If you're feeling overwhelmed or confused about exactly how to craft stations and items, this guide can set you on the path to mastery.
How To Get Crafting Recipes
Crafting is pretty involved in Fae Farm. There are a couple different zones where you will craft: indoor and outdoor zones.
In addition, there are a few things you need to do to unlock recipes in Fae Farm. First you'll need to pick up any scrolls that you find.
Since that's not always enough to allow you to craft a recipe, the second thing you'll need to do is encounter all the necessary ingredients. Encountering ingredients requires you to explore as much as you can.
Quests often unlock new areas to explore, so make sure to complete any quests that become available. Most quests don't tell you what will be unlocked as you progress, so doing all the quests is very important.
In addition to exploration and quest completion, you'll also unlock new recipes as your skill levels increase. Each type of task you do like digging or chopping trees, improves a related skill.
You may need to upgrade your tools in order to collect certain c𓂃rafting ingredients.
Follow this basic list and you'll be on the right track:
- Pick up recipe scrolls.
- Collect any items you can interact with.
- Level up your skills.
- Complete quests.
- Explore new areas.
- Make any crafting stations when you unlock their recipes.
- Purchase recipes from vendors.
How To Start Crafting
One of the things that can make crafting a bit difficult in Fae Farm is how easy crafting is to ignore. You'll only know that you're in a crafting area by a little hammer symbol that shows up at the very bottom of your screen.
If you see that hammer, you're in an area where you can craft and place items. When you craft certain items, such as crafting stations, you have to set them down in order for the crafting process to complete.
For this reason, you have to be within the placement grids for the crafting menu to open. As long as you see the hammer icon at the bottom of your screen you'll be fine to start crafting.
Access the crafting menu by using the 'c' key on the pc version, or the down arrow on controller. If you're not sure if you're in a crafting area try pressing the normal keys for accessing the crafting menu. Nothing will happen if you're in the wrong zone. Press the same key or button again to view the collection of recipes available.
Items you are able to craft will be lit up, while others are dim. Select an item to craft and place it within the available grid to complete the crafting process.
The item outline will be blue if it's okay to place it, and will turn red if you cannot place it.
Indoor Crafting
Since there are two different crafting zones, your recipe options will be different depending on whether you're crafting indoors or outdoors. Certain crafting stations, home decorations, and furniture are accessible in the indoor crafting construction menu.
You can modify your home interior, like wallpaper, from the crafting menu as long as you have the recipe. Some of these recipes and color palettes can be purchased from vendors.
Purchased recipes work a little differently. You don't need to craft them, but you may need to craft items to trade for the recipe you want.
If you purchase a recipe from a vendor, put it in your storage to make it accessible in the appropriate crafting menu.
Outdoor Crafting
Your home is pretty small at first, so many of the crafting stations you build can be placed outdoors. There are also certain things that you can only craft outdoors.
You'll need to craft the plots of land where you grow crops, and a different type of plot to grow flowers. You can only access this type of crafting from the outdoors menu.
The crafting symbol is the same as it is for indoor crafting: a tiny hammer at the bottom of your screen. You'll still interact with the 'c' key or the down arrow.
The more types of new items you harvest and craft, the more recipes you will unlock.
Crafting Steps
Whether you are crafting something indoors or outdoors, the basic steps are the same. This makes it aꦕ little easier ဣto remember once you get used to the process.
- Press 'c' on keyboard, or the down arrow on controller to bring up the building grid.
- Once the grid is up, press the same button again to see the recipes you can access.
- If the recipe is lit up, you have all the necessary ingredients to make it.
- Select the item to craft.
- If applicable, place the item.
- To exit the menu, right-click with the mouse or press the 'B' button.
- To fully exit the building mode, right-click again or press the 'B' button.
How To Use Crafting Stations
One of the ways you'll craft is by using crafting stations. There are many stations, and each one will allow you to craft different recipes.
You'll want to craft each station as you unlock it. You'll usually need something it produces to complete quests or progress with the story.
If you accidentally make the wrong crafting station, like a duplicate you don't want, you can reclaim it to get back the resources used to create it.
Reclaiming Crafted Items
To reclaim a crafted item, you'll press 'c' or the down arrow to access the building mode. When the grid appears, move your character around until the item you want to move, rotate, or reclaim is highlighted with a white grid.
Choose whichever option you want from the options it shows you on the screen. You can adjust the location of an item, or reclaim it which destroys the machine and gives you back all the resources from crafting it.
Interacting With Crafting Stations
One of the nice things about using crafting stations in Fae Farm is that you don't need to watch the progress. You can do your mining or animal care while the crafting stati🃏on processes your recipes.
Once you have crafted one of the stations and placed it indoors or outdoors, you can interact with it. Each crafting station has its own set of recipes for you to select.
To interact you should get a prompt when your avatar is near enough that directs you to either left-click on the crafting s🧔tation, or press the corresponding button on your controller.
Your recipes or accessible items will appear in the grid on the left side of the menu. If you process something it will show up in the grid on the right⛄ side.
In the middle will be key information about the crafting process. You'll see the recipe or item you selected, as well as the quantity of the item you will need.
The result you'll get is also shown in the middle along with the quantity of the processed item, so you know what to expect when you start crafting. For this Artisan Table, it takes 20 eggs to process into one mayonnaise.
Crafting An Item
Crafting recipes will take different lengths of time to complete. In general, the more advanced the processed result is, the longer it will take to craft.
When a recipe is done processing, there will be a little package tied with ribbon at the crafting station. Interact with the station again, and follow the on-screen prompts to collect the items.
Some crafting stations have an extra step to accept the processed items. Once you press 'x' for keyboard or 'A' on controller to collect them, you may get an additional window showing you the items. Select the items again to receive them.
If you're processing multiple items, you can still pick up any finished products by interacting with the crafting station, even if it's still processing.
Canceling a Crafting Session
There may be times when you select the wrong recipe to process, or you change your plans mid-crafting. That's okay, because you have the option to cancel the crafting queue.
You should still be careful when processing with the crafting stations. If you don't cancel the process in time, you may lose some of the original ingredients.
The cancel option may appear differently for different crafting stations.
To cancel your crafting, do the following:
- Interact with the crafting station to access the menu.
- Look for a cancel option.
- Look for the words "manage queue".
- If the above options are not present, select the item being crafted in the grid on the right.
- Look for the message '[HOLD] Cancel Remaining' in the lower middle of the screen.
- For keyboard, hover your mouse over the item being processed, and hold down the '1' key to cancel.
- For controller, select the item and hold the indicated key (usually 'RT' or 'ZR') to cancel.
To prevent accidental crafting cancelations on certain stations, you have to hold the cancel button down until the bar fills up.
