Summary

  • There have been many additions to the WarioWare family over the years, and here we rank each playable character we've met thus far in the series.
  • Many of these characters possess distinct identities and wacky personas to match the vibe of the WarioWare games.
  • Regardless of their spot in this ranking, each of these characters has a unique charm and has contributed to making the titles in the series memorable in their own right.

The 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:WarioWare series has cultivated quite the cast of eccentric characters for itself. Though it's only once in a blue Mushroom Kingdom moon that they appear in any Nintendo titles beyond their microgamin' origin, a fair few of them have developed followings of their own, and are plenty charming in their own right.

Since the series' humble GBA origins, WarioWare has seen almost ten mainline installments, and over the course of that, the roster has swollen to a staggering twelve central playable characters. This is, of course, without mentioning all the secondary and tertiary faces that populate Diamond City; but in the interest of brevity and focus, our list will be ranking only those core individuals. Let's-a go!

The entries in this list are ranked according to each character's time in the series, the overall impression they've left upon fans, and our preferences! You have been warned!

12 Lulu

Small Wario counterpart

Lulu character profile in WarioWare

Perhaps conscious of the fact the WarioWare family was a bit imbalanced, Nintendo and Intelligent Systems (quite rightly) made attempts to bolster the female contingent as the 3DS era dre♋w to a close. One such addition was Lulu, who debuted in WarioWare Gold, and who you can tell just from lookin꧑g at her was intended to be an expy of Wario – if he was roughly twenty years younger and wore a skirt.

Lulu's the self-proclaimed hero of Luxeville, a suspiciously similar knockoff of Diamond City, and she shares many of Wario's character traits.

11 Dr. Crygor ඣ

Offputting cyborg tinkerer

Dr. Crygor in WarioWare: Get It Together!

One of the series' more divisive characters, Dr. Crygor has been around since day one, but the developers have never quite figured out what to do with him. Is he an evil scientist? A well-meaning engineer? A doting grandfather? Or all at once? He's a bit of a creep, to boot – his very first set of microgames sees us having to help him take a dump. Charming.

We're not sure if it's the half-hearted robot aesthetic, handlebar mustache or bulging gut; he just resembles Zelda's Tingle with a few cybernetic enhancements, and he's not particularly pleasant to spend time with.

10 ༒ Young Cricket

Bland kung-fu fighter

Young Cricket in WarioWare: Get It Together!

The quintessential formula for a successful WarioWare character is simple: they've got to match the cartoony artstyle, and they've gotta be unashamedly wacky. Young Cricket, who put in his first appearance in Smooth Moves, achieves neither, and therefore is a bit milquetoast.

Compared to his bonkers bedfellows, Cricket is about as straight-laced as can be. You all know this archetype. He represents the series veering fully into anime territory, as he and his master Mantis strut about scoffing meat buns and discussing platitudes of honour and respect. This isn't The Last Airbender; where's the fun?

9 Orbulon

Underused intergalactic traveller

Orbulon in WarioWare: Get It Together!

Another casualty of Nintendo not seeming to know how to use someone, the bespectacled alien Orbulon had a promising start as a recurring gag character on the GBA, then as a souvenir delivery service on the DS. When it came time for him to be integrated as a mainline player, though, it became apparent he didn't have the chops.

Orbulon looks cool, make no mistake, but he's typically relegated to "the one who handles all the weird microgames." He pops up as an afterthought on the Wii, is hidden away in the multiplayer mode on the Wii U, and so on. The poor E.T. deserves better.

8 💮 🔯 Kat & Ana

Young Cricket done right

Kat & Ana profile in WarioWare

Right away, points for the pun embedded in those names. That's actually genius; and it gets even better when you learn these young ninjas-in-training have a penchant for yelling "sure I can!". Sure I can... shuriken. Geddit?

In essence, Kat & Ana are adorable tykes that fill the niche Young Cricket aims to ape (and falls short in doing so.) We already had two martial artists that fit into the series swimmingly – whether they're defending the Diamond City dojo from rampaging Onis or engaging in parfait-gorging competitions, they lend a flair to the fabric of the franchise.

7 Penny

Precocious Crygor heir

Penny in WarioWare: Get It Together!

If Kat & Ana are superior versions of Young Cricket, then Dr. Crygor personally spawned his own replacement: Penny Crygor, his granddaughter. Her very existence basically renders him moot. She's more aesthetically pleasing, a darn sight cleverer and more capable than her grandpappy, and stays well away from any toilet humour.

Penny's shining moment came in Smooth Moves, where she shows up Dr. Crygor in a televised invent-off, creating a sick bike for Wario via a series of mechanically-inclined microgames. Top this all off with the fact she comes rocking her own animated intro, and Crygor senior can sit things out as far as we're concerned.

6 🃏 Dribble & Spitz

Saliva-themed taxi drivers

Dribble and Spitz profile in WarioWare

It might seem like cheating to rank two characters in a single entry, but these fuzzy friends are inseparable; like Mario and Luigi, and, er, Wario and Waluigi. Dribble's the leader, a burly but impressionable canine who gets to decide the passengers for their taxi service.

Spitz, meanwhile, is his diminutive feline companion, who's made to go along with Dribble's libido-induced dealings. He's usually the first to notice something off about their passengers; who, inevitably, always turn out to be aliens, mermaids, or other fantastic creatures. None of whom pay the fare. Maybe try food delivery, eh lads?

5 Mona

Many-outfitted handywoman

Mona in WarioWare: Get It Together!

Mona is a gift from the heavens as far as the writers are concerned. Given that she's a broke student, with a skillset longer than a very long arm, they can swap her vocation as needed and plug her into basically any scenario a new game calls for. Her most famous role, though, was in the GBA original, as a pizza delivery person – a stint that spawned an impossibly catchy theme tune.

Mona's also played the part of cheerleader, professional singer, fashion model, journalist, and games developer. In Game and Wario, she's snapping photos for the local newspaper, which entails using the GamePad to spy on innocent locals and waiting for them to do something humiliating. Perhaps for the best she moved on from that.

4 Jimmy T.

Freestyler with a stunning afro

Jimmy T. in WarioWare: Get It Together!

You can't help but love a character with confidence, and Jimmy oozes it. He never really does much beyond dancing, and offering the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Rhythm Heaven-esque 'remixes' of other characters' microgames, but boy, does he nail those tasks. He knows how absurd his hair looks, a puffy blue pompadour that puts Bob Ross to shame, and wastes no time undulating it to the beat.

A little known fact about Jimmy is that he's got a very large, extended family. The 'Thang' family, apparently – guess that's what the 'T' stands for. There's James T., who rocks an orange afro; Jamie T., the lass in pink; and Papa and Mama T., who are presumably very proud that all their progeny entered the music business.

3 Ashley

Monotone enchantress

Ashley profile in WarioWare

Who's the girl next door, living in the haunted mansion? Better learn her name: 'cause it's Ashley! From the moment she swooped onto our screens, spellbook in hand and ever-flustered devil sidekick Red in tow, this witch captured the hearts of gamers everywhere.

It's clear that all she really wants is a friend; but she doesn't exactly know how to go about it without giving into her base desires and hexing them. Ashley's stages typically concern her brewing a potion or casting some spell or other, only for it to be revealed she had (relatively) innocent intentions. There's an air of mystery around Ashley, and her banging theme song, that makes her enchanting.
