Where To Upgrade Equipment
Upgrading your equipment can be done by speaking to the NPCs that you add to your base. If you are looking to upgrade your weapon๊s quickly, then youꦫ will at least need to have the Blacksmith set up.

Click on the weapon you want to upgrade, and you will see the required amount of Runes needed.

The quality of the weapon determines how many times you can upgrade it. For example, an Uncommon Forest Longbow can only be upgraded twice.
How To Get Runes By Salvaging
Runes are used to upgrade your items; in general, you will need a lot. The Epic Tainted Axe pictured above has four potential upgrades, with the last one requiring 21 Runes.
Thankfully, Runes aren't too difficult to obtain. The best way to get stacks of Runes is to salvage unused gear. If you have a basic crafted weapon, you will not be able to do this. Weapons like the Scrappy Sword or Spiked Club (crafting for a Blacksmith quest) will not be salvageable. To get rid of these weapons, you just need to delete them.
With a suitable weapon in your inventory, right-click on it. This will bring up the small 'Actions' menu, giving you the option to delete or salvage the item. Rather than wasting it, you will want to convert it into Runes. There will be a number next to 'Salvage', telling you exactly how many Runes you will receive.
What Weapons Should You Salvage?
As you explore Embervale, you will most likely come across a lot of weapons that you don't want to use. While it may seem easy to just leave them, we suggest picking them up so you can salvage them.
Early in the game, you may find a lot of Forest Longbows. Many enemies will have this on them; you don't need multiple longbows though, so salvage the rest! Additionally, if you get a weapon better than the one tha𒁏t you are currentlyౠ using, feel free to salvage the older one.
If you have previously upgraded a weapon, then you will get more Runes upon salvage.
How To Get Runes By Looting
Lastly, you can gather Runes by looting from enemies. When you kill an enemy found within the Shroud, they have a chance to carry Runes with them. They may just have one or two, but some enemies carry huge stacks of Runes.
For example, during the quest to clear the Elixir Well, you will need to defeat a Fell Thunderbrute. This tough enemy will drop several items, including 20 Runes.
If you are short on Runes and weapons, heading to the Shroud provides a good chance to loot a few from fallen enemies. This isn't the qꦕuickest way to get Runes, but you may not always have salvageable weapons o𓆉n hand.
What Should You Upgrade?
With limited Runes, what should ☂you be focusing on? This depends on what weapons you want to use. If you want to focus all of your attention on a Legendary axe, then feel free to fully upgrade it. If, on the other hand, you want to focus on being a wand exper♋t, you can upgrade this weapon type.
