As you make your way to Riften in Skyrim, yoꦿu will be introduced to th𒉰e Thieves Guild. This is an organization that primarily deals with illegal activities, located in the Ratway under Riften. Prior to joining the guild, you will need to complete various quests, including A Chance Arrangement.
A Chance Arrangement is the first quest you will be tasked with to join the Thieves Guild. In this guide, we are going to go over how to complete this quest, as well as what to do after completion. First, let's take a look at how to start A Chance Arrangement.

How To Start A Chance Arrangement
To start this quest, you will need to speak with Brynjolf in the town square of Riften. He will not be present in the town square when you first arrive; instead, you will need to wait for him to appear during the day. If you want to quickly start this quest, you can also find him in The Bee and the Barb tavern.
This quest will start if you speak with Brynjolf in the quest 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:A Cornered Rat.
Once you speak with Brynjolf, the quest will begin, and you will be tasked with stealing a ring from Madesi, an Argonian jeweler. After stealing the ring, you will then need to plant it on Brand-Shei and return back to Brynjolf.
Brynjolf will only be present in the town square between 8 am and 8 pm, so if it's past 8 pm, you can either wait it out or sleep for the night.
Brynjolf inforཧms you that as you steal 🦩the ring, he will cause a distraction. When the time is right, head to the square and tell Brynjolf that you are ready to start. Doing so will cause him to create a diversion in the form of a speech.
Stealing The Ring
To steal the ring, you will need to use a lockpick to open the door on the stand behind Madesi. Opening the door will reveal a chest that you will need to open with a lockpick as well. The chest will contain several items, but be sure to take the ring. Like Brynjolf, Ma🅰desi will be located in the town square, making him easy to find.
Tips For Stealing The Ring
Although Brynjolf is creating a diversion, it will take some time for everyone to get distracted. Before stealing the ring, be sure that everyone nearby is paying attention to Brynjolf, rather than you.
Brynjolf will not be able to distract everyone in Riften and passing guards and bystanders may notice you steali෴ng.
Once everyone is distracted, crouch and quickly pick the lock of the stand door. You will also have the option to pickpocket the key from Madesi, but this is risky; the best option is to bring a few lockpicks and break your way into the stand. If you do choose to pickpocket the key from Madesi, remember to save your game beforehand. If you get caught, you can load from this point.
Planting The Ring
After stealing the ring, you will now need to plant it on Brand-Shei. This is a Dunmer shopkeep that can be found standing near the back of the square, with his back to a few crates. If you💮 have trouble locating Brand-Shei with the marker, you can use Clairvoyance to easily find him.
Planting the ring is considerably easier than stealing the ring. To do so, just stand behind the crates and place the ring into Brand-Shei's inventory.
If you stand ꦆbehind the crꦏates, you will have a very low chance of getting caught.
With the ring now placed, Brynjolf will stop his speech and Brand-Shei will be arrested for stealing Madesi's ring. Guards will take Brand-Shei to jail, where he will remain for several day🔯s.
Completing A Chance Arrangement
After the ring has been planted, speak with Brynjolf again. If you have successfully completed the mission, he will congratulate you and reward you with 100 septims.
Speaking with Brynjolf will also allow you to begin the second Thieves Guild quest, titled 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Taking Care of Business. To begin this quest, head𒊎 to the Ragged Flagon in the Ratwaꦑy.
Failing To Steal The Ring
If you failed this quest, don't worry. Although you will ultimately disappoint Brynjolf, he will applaud your effort and provide additional quests for the Thieves Guild. Failing the quest will not provide any money as a reward, but it will not affect the rest of the questline. Getting caught while stealing will lead to your arrest as wel𝕴l. As usual, you will have the choice to pay off guards, go tไo jail, or fight your way out.
Lastly, we know that Skyrim can be a bit buggy, which can cause Brand-Shei to stay in jail forever.
