How To Unlock The Ultimate Heist
There are two missions you need to finish before you can access The Ultimate Heist. The missions in question are Boots Of Springheel Jak and Independent Thievery. However, technically you need to progress to the end of the Thieves Guild questline, so although these two quests are the ones that come directly before it, there are other required quests to complete as well, along with♈ optional objectives along the way.
How To Complete The Ultimate Heist Quest
Before you delve deep into this thrilling adventure, you need to prepare by bringing lots of lockpicks and arrows, along with a trusty bow. These piece♕s of gear wi🍌ll be useful during your mission.
The Imperial City Palace
Walk to the Imperial City Palace and enter it. Once inside, take a left turn and find the door to the basement. There's a lock keeping you out, but you're a master thief, so unlock it using your sneaky s꧒kills and head downstairs.
There's a guard you need to sneak past in the basement, but otherwise, there aren't any other threats. Next, interact with the large hourglass at the end of the room to activate an escape tunnel.
The Arboretum And The Tunnels
Now that the escape tunnel is open for business, leave the Imperial City Palace in the same way you came in and travel to the Arboretum. There's a grate on the ground next to a tree near the northeastern gate of the Arboretum, which is your ticket in𝓡side the South East Tunnels. You ꦓcan now enter the Beneath The Bloodworks world-space through these tunnels.
Walk for a bit, and you'll soon come across a staircase. Travel right and then straight until you see a new door which you can open using the nearby turn-wheel. There are vampires inside this section of the tunnels, so you need 🌳to be ca🐠reful because they can infect you with their disease upon contact. Sneak past the vampires if possible.
When you travel through the previously mentioned door, you'll enter the Imperial City Sewers, which is home to wraiths that are waiting to attack you. Walk onto the bridge and down the nearby staircase, now♑ travel through the northwestern hallway and a few more hallways that your quest ma🀅rker will point towards until you reach yet another door, which leads to The Old Way.
The Old Way
The Old Way is the final danger in The Ultimate Heist because it's the last dungeon you need to travel through. However, it's also very dangerous due to the old traps all over the place, so you need to stay aware while walking around. There are also✨ undead enemies throughout this section of the quest, but none of them are particularly notable. You can sneak past many of these enemies if you wish.
Travel through the linear hallways until you eventually come up across an entranceway to The Lost Catacombs, which will be a hole in the wall with a few zombies lurking around the area. There are more hallways this way, but they are also quite linear, so there's only one way to go. At a point, you'll come across two tunnels, and you need to travel through the right-hand pathway.
After traveling through the right tunnel, you'll enter a room with a high ledge. This is where the Springheel Jak Boots will come in handy. You can use the boots to jump onto the high ledge. Upon reaching♓ the ledge, you can t♍ravel through a door to a location called the Hall Of Epochs.
There are a few pillars in this new room, and you can interact with the walls to find the correct message, which will lower the walls. You can press a button𒅌 upon traveling south, which will allow you to walk through a separate room called the Hall Of Epochs.
There's another button you can press in this room, which will open a southeast wall. Press the final button in the room with two catacomb chambers. Now travel back to the previous room where you encoun♍tered the statues. The walls are now down, ꦐand you can travel through after defeating two zombies.
The bridge in front of you will have a square on the ground, stand on it and equip your bow. You need to hit an arrow onto the statue's keyhole from the spot you're standing; however, it may be easier to start with standard arrows for practice.
Save before you use the Arrow Of Extrication. If you miss, you can just reload.
You can now travel through the door, but there will be two statues waiting for you. These statues will become enemies, so make sure you have your weapon of choice꧑ on hand. Walk through the next door, and you'll find yourself in the Imperial Palace.
Stealing The Elder Scroll
After entering the door, you'll immediately encounter four hostile guards. You can't sneak past these guards in a traditi♒onal way, however, you can use invisibility potions. Otherwise, you'll need to defeat the guards, w𒁃hich will grant you a bounty.
After defeating the guards, take a left and enter the library. There's a lock to pick on the door, so you'll need a few lockpicks f💖or this part. After entering the next room, turn right and keep walking down the hall. Now pull the lever, which is behind the nearby p🍌riest. After pulling the lever, travel back to the library.
Sit in the chair, but don't speak to any of the priests, otherwise, you may raise alarm. A priest will eventually come to give you an Elder Scroll. Afterward, you need to walk or sneak up the stairs and pick the lock at the door. There are mꦏultiple locks you'll need to pick from this point onwards. Travel through the Moth Priest's Chambers and then the Imperial Battlemage's Chambers.
There's a fireplace you need to enter to escape. Each of these locations will have a quest marker pointing towards them, which will help guide you from room to room. Since there are a few places during your escape where you'll take fall damage, equipping the Springheel Jak Boots is useful at this stage of the mission. Escape The Old Way, which is where you'll end up falling after en𝔍tering the fireplace.
The Gray Fox And Your Reward
Upon escaping the palace, you need to follow your quest marker and return to the Gray Fox. Speak to him about the Elder Scroll, and he'll ask for a final gesture. You now need to travel to Castle Anvil and speak to Countess Millona, who you can present with a ring. Following dialogue with thi💖s character, the plot will reveal that she was𒀰 the wife of the Gray Fox before he took on his thief identity.
Count Corvus, or the Gray Fox as you know him, will now leave his life of crime. This conclusion will leave you as the guildmaster of the Thieves Guild. You'll also receive the Gray Cowl Of 💟Noctu🍃rnal. This exchange concludes The Ultimate Heist and names you leader of the Thieves Guild forever.
The Gray Cowl Of Nocturnal will allow you to assume the identity of the Gray Fox. Guards will attack yo♔u on sight, but your bounty as the Gray Fox is tracked wholly separately from your usual bounty - this makes it a great item to wear during criminal capers.
