Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame, is an optional boss in the Elden 🃏Ring DLC that deals heavy Madness build-up to the player with some of his attacks. While not as strong as some of the main bosses, Midra still requires you to be quick on your feet as you fight against him.
How To Find Midra, Lord Of Frenzied Flame
Midra resides in Midra’s Manse, which can be reached via the Abyssal Woods. However, to get to this region, you have to clear the Darklight Catacombs first, which will unlock the Abyss part of the map.
Be wary of the untouchable enemies on your way through the Abyssal Woods, and shortly you’ll come across a door to Midra’s Manse, which is right behind a number of headless corpses lined perfectly with a 🅠golden material peaking out of their bodies where t✅heir heads used to be.
How To Prepare To Fight Midra, Lord Of Frenzied Flame
Midra has lots of attacks that can cause Madness build-up so be sure to equip Talismans that raise your focus, such as the Clarifying Horn Charm and the Mottled Necklace +2. Additionally, the Flamedrake +3 Talisman is also a good choice for this fi♌ght, as most of Midra’s melee and Flame of Fr🤡enzy attacks deal Fire damage.
While most of his attacks are fairly easy to dodge, it is recommended that you equip any armor with good resistance to Fire. Be mindful if you’re using a shi♚eld, as his melee attacks cause slight chip damagꦚe due to also dealing Fire damage.
Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame is fairly weak to Bleed and Frostbite, but is stronger against poison and scarlet rot. Using dual Katana, w🦄ith one causing Bleed and the other inflicting Frostbite is also a fairly easy strategy to deal with this boss.
If you’re using a Faith or Madness build, know that like many other bosses, Midra is immune to Madness and has a strong resistance against Fire. You can still deal a ton of damage by using any Incantation that deals any other type of damage, such as Lightning or Holy.

How To Beat Midra, Lord Of Frenzied Flame
As you enter Midra’s Arena, you’ll find him in his human form. While he is fairly weak in this form, you have to be wary of his grab attack as he can quickly jump on you and inflict madness build-up. You cannot use Spirit Summons during 🐓this phase.
Once you’ve taken him out, you’♚ll have a brief moment of respite before the cutscene begins where you can either heal or drink your Flask of Wondrous Physick.
After defeating his feeble Human Form, you’ll be facing Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame. Right as the fight begins, he’ll throw Flame of Frenzy attacks at you, which can be easily dodged towards the side. You can al👍so choose to just ta𒆙nk the damage and Madness build-up as you summon your Spirit Ashes.
For Spirit Summons, you can use Mimic Tear for tanking and dealing consistent damage over time. You can also use Black Knife Ticheꦯ if you want more damage, but be mindful as she has low HP.
Phase One
After dodging or tanking his initial attack, Midra will occasionally spread out his arms and throw Flame of Frenzy attacks when you’re far enough from him. All of these attacks where Midra spreads out his arms can be dodged easily by rolling to your side as these attacks follow a straight line.
To mix it up, Midra will lean his head forward, shooting the Flame of Frenzy in a horizontal attack, which can only be dodged correctly by rolling to the back or forward directions.
The boss will also launch a 3-hit combo of melee strikes, which can be easily dodged by rolling towards the back in quick succession. If you’re using💮 a shield, you can🎐 just block the attacks with ease, even though you’ll still get slightly damaged.
Whenever you see Midra levitating, be ready for a sword attack. Now, he can choose to spin with his sword in his hand, which can be dodged easily by rolling to the back, or, he’ll lunge at you with one powerful swing, which can also be dodged by rolling backwards at the correct timing.
Midra has another variation of this three-hit melee combo, where he uses a thrusting attack to end the combo, which then causes his sword to expand out its spikes after a short delay. This attack can catch you rolling to the back if you’re not prepared for it. To dodge the final attack of this combo correctly, you have to roll towards the back one more time, right after dodging the thrust attack.
Phase Two
Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame will transition into phase two once his HP reaches 60 percent. Right as he transitions, he will fly and then smash his flaming head onto the ground, launching an explosive attack with a huge area-of-effect. The best way to dodge this move is to run away from him and jump at the point of impact.
After that, he’ll most likely fly towards you and strike you with his greatsword, which can be dodged by rolling to the back. He♈’ll mostly use attacks from his first phase, paired with a few new attacks in his second phase.
Midra may also jump into the air, and smash his sword into the ground, which will cause spikes to erupt from the ground aftꦺer a short delay. You can dodge the initial strike by rolling in any direction but will have to roll backwards to avoiꦺd the spikes.
When his HP reaches 40 percent, Midra’s sword will catch fire and his swings will launch a wave of fire in your direction. During this, most of his melee attacks will launch a wave of fire, so you’ll have to be careful about how you decide to dodge. Most of the time, rolling towards the side is your best bet.
You can wait out this phase by dodging his attacks and his sword will return to normal afteℱr a short while, and then you can finish him off easily.
What To Do With The Remembrance Of The Lord Of Frenzied Flame
Once you’ve defeated Midra, you’ll receive the Remembrance of the Lord of Frenzied Flame and 410,000 runes. You can exchange the Remembrance with Enia at the ꦯRoundtable Hold for the Greatsword of Damnation or Midཧra’s Flame of Frenzy.
The Greatsword of Damnation is a weapon that scales of Strength, Dexterity, and Faith. The weapon also deals Holy damage and comes with a unique Ash of War called Golde𒈔n Crux which lets you leap into the air and smash your sword into the ground, which causes spikes to erupt from the ground a🔴fter a short delay and has a decent area-of-effect.
You can choose not to do tꦰhe follow-up a▨ttack which causes the spikes to erupt from the ground by letting go of the “weapon skill” button.
On the other hand, Midra’s Flame of Frenzy takes two memory slots to equip and causes Madness build-up on the user and anyone else in the spell’s range. Note that the Incantation will continue to spew out Frenzied Flame and inflict Madness build-up as l🤡ong as the player keeps holding the button, runs out of FP, or gets inflicted by Madness.
