With 71 combat-capable characters (out of a total 120 recruits), isn't exactly the sort of game that'll haꦗve y💝ou rushing to grind for the entire team. You're bound to find favorites. Odds are good that you'll elect to focus all that EXP growth on them first and foremost.

ꩲThat is, of course, a terrific way to play. But certain characters in Eiyuden Chronicle are going to take up mandatory slots on your six-fighter team more frequently than others. These are the more story-centric folks, the ones with closer ties to the story, or to Nowa himself. Don𝓀't leave them behind on grinds and gearing-up.
Eiyuden Chronicle's Most "Important" Party Members
A few of these are virtually certain not to surprise you. Others may prompt a lifted brow. In general, our approach with this guide is to highlight the characters who are mandatory portions of your party lineup at any point.
That said, and yes, you may already be thinking it: Eiyuden Chronicle's "Attendant" system is designed (rather excellently) to allow up to three story-required characters to serve in bonus noncombat slots. Frankly, this is a heck of a boon.
So, you won't need to worry about leveling everyone, and checking their gear, and runes, at every🌺 interval. Stellar!
But particularly toward the end of the game, you will frequently be sent to one-time areas. Hiro, your tool shop merchant, will come with you, but neither Frida the armor merchant nor Code L the rune shop merchant will be present.
As a result, you may find yourself straining under the pressure of under-geared, under-runed, and downright underleveled characters even with the Attendant slots taken up. And that is why we've made this guide!
