Pac-Man Truly Is Scary When You Think About It
, and 🤪and ,𝓀 franchise director Tymon Smektala revealed that The Beast, and in particular, its "Beast Mode" power for Kyle Crane, was inspired by … Pac-Man.
Yes, you read that right. The 1980 arcade classic is a major inspiration for how The Beast ♐will play come August.
"You m🐼ay be a little surprised, but we got the idea for Beast Mode from the classic game Pac-Man," Smektala revealed. "I think of Pac-Man as a survival horror game in a way."
That actually makes some se🙈nse. Pac-Man is perpetually chased by Ghosts, and through a power-up can then turn the tables on the Ghosts, but only for a limited time.
"We were conscious of that feeling when we created Beast Mode in this game," Smektala added. "The player, who was the one being chased, releases his anger🦂 and activates Beast Mode, and suddenly becomes the one who mows down the zombies."
And just like in Pac-Man, you won't be able to be The Beast forever, and the roles will flip onc🧜e more. Pretty neat when you think about it, and it'll be fascinating to see the mechanic in action and how players respond to it.
