Exploring Hinterberg's dungeons isn't all about monster slaying though, as there are plenty of brain-bending puzzles to crack inside. The Abandoned Mineshaft is n෴o exception, featuring a ⭕tricky conundrum with minecarts that will have you scratching your head.

How To Complete The Abandoned Mineshaft

After snagging your first pair of magic skills for the Doberkogel region from Marina, head east along the road to find the entrance portal of the Abandoned Mineshaft. Inside, you'll find a well, which you can descend into using a ladder.

Initial Challenges

At the bottom, you'll need to tackle two waves of Kobold enemies before moving forward. Once you've cleared them out, you'll encounter the first puzzle of the Mineshaft.

The path is blocked by three gates, all locked and positioned in a line. To unlock the gates, you'll need to press the three buttons in front of 🎉the gate. So, push the minecart to hit the middle button, use your Wrecking Ball to slam the button on the left, and use your Ball and Chain🦩 to drop another minecart held up by black goo for the button on the right.

You can also use a similar method to 🃏drop a chest containing 500 HBs in this are📖a.

Meet Travis And Acquire The Camera

With the gates now open, press ahead to meet Travis, who will later give you the Camera. This nifty gadget unlocks the ability to enter the photo mode in Dungeons of Hinterberg.

Once you’ve exhausted Travis’s dialogue, use the nearby handholds to reach a platform with a gap. While jumping won’t cut it, you’ll find a rectangular extension with a keyway on the opposite platform that fits your Ball and Chain ability. Retract it to create a makeshift bridge and reach the other side.

From there, you'll have to climb another set of handholds to reach a narrow corridor. As you navigate this corridor, you'll notice a chest past a locked gate. It contains a Small HP Potion, and to access it, enter the compartment next to the gate and break through a destructible wall. The chest is hidden behind it, and you'll also find the button to unlock the gate th💙ere.

Face The Goat-Like Enemy

At the end of the corridor, a goat-like enemy will eagerly await you in the next area. This will likely be your first encounter with an enemy protected by a magic shield, so let loose your spells to whittle down the shield. Don’t worry about running out of mana though, as striking the enemy with your sword will regenerate it.

With the area cleared, climb the ladder and ride the yellow minecart to the next section. Before continuing, however, ride the minecart again, but this time, lean to the right. This will direct the cart to a small compartment with a chest containing the Abandoned Mineshaft’s commemorative coin.

Once you've grabbed the coin, you can return to the previous section. Here, you'll find a broken lift that you can operate manually by placing a Wrecking Ball on the elevated platform, causing the lower p👍latform to rise and lift you up if you stand on it.

On the ledge above, stand next to the fences and aim at the rotating target board on the opposite platform with your Ball and Chains spell. A minecart will appear below on a rotating platform. To place it on the rail track, aim at the black blob with your Ball and Chain spell to set the minecart in place.

This minecart will take you into a cavern with a web of 🏅rail tracks that loops around. To navigate this area:

  1. Shift the minecart to the right at the first intersection with the wooden signpost.
  2. Lean left at the next intersection to enter into a tunnel.
  3. This section of the mine has many obstacles; to avoid crashing into them, shift the minecart's weight accordingly.

The track ends at the tunnel's exit, with the minecart plummeting into a chasm and Luisa grabbing onto the handholds on the cliff's wall. Using these, you can climb to the next area.

Here, you’ll encounter the final puzzle of the Abandoned Mineshaft, which is a real brain teaser, and it'll have you re𝓰thinking every step and scratching your head in confusion.

The Final Puzzle

You should begin by bringing the minecart down to the tracks below. After that, push the button to turn the gate on the rotating platform. Then, ride the minecart past the gate to reach an area with a chest containing 1,000 HBs.

Now return to the previous area with the minecart, and then press the button. Again, ride the minecart into the gate, but this time around, it will stop right next to it. Press the button once more, and the minecart will be able to move along the left track. When it stops, you’ll find a black bob that rotates the rail tracks when you aim your Ball and Chain at it.

Once you've done that, head back to the gate, close it with the button, ride the minecart, press the button once more to unlock the gate again, and finally board the minecart.

The minecart will whisk you straight to the Abandoned Mineshaft Stamp Station and escape portal. But before you can kick back and relax, a witch-like enemy♛ is the last obstacle keeping you from your well-deserved breather.

Defeat her, and you’ll exit the Abandoned Mineshaft with every corner explore🔯d and every puzzle solved.
