One of the most satisfying feelings in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dungeons & Dragons is witnessing your character accomplish great deeds, with all your hard work building them finally paying off. That's even quite noticeable when playing a Barbarian since they're powerful killing machines. Big health and resistance to damage can bring pain to everyone who looked wrong at you.

When focusing on class, you often think about their species. Perhaps you have something in mind because of the backstory you created, but sometimes we choose a species based on what would be💜 the most optimal choice.🎀 With that said, which species work well for a Barbarian?

10 Half-Orc

A clas🌞sic combination of species and class is the mighty Half-Orc Barbarian. Half-Orcs will gain a bonus in Strength and Constitution, two ability scores that are necessary for a proper Barbarian to function.

They will give you one extra die when you do a critical attack, which combines with the extra dice from Barbarian's Brutal Critical, and you are also more difficult to fall thanks to your Relentless Endurance.

9 Orc

If you want to go Orc, why not full Orc? You have two options to go from here, and both are interesting: Volo's Orc or 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Multiverse's Orc. Volo's give you similar bonuses to Strength and Constitution compared to Half-Orcs, the power to move towards an enemy as a bonus action, and more skills to select.

Multiverse's Orc lets you choose where your ability scores bonuses go, as well as the same Restless Endurance from Half-Orc, and the ability to Dash as a bonus action, helping Barbarians to get closer to enemies. Both versions also feature a bonus at carrying capacity too.

8 Goliath

As you may have noticed by now, the big ones make good Barbarians, and Goliath is no different. They also receive the same bonuses to their ability scores, and you also have two different versions, though they do essentially the same thing. Still, the Monsters of the Multiverse version is slightly betterꦑ.

Goliath has a free Athletics skill, better-carrying capacity, resistance to cold damage, and Stone's Endurance which, whenever you get hit allows you to decrease the damage by a d12 plus your Constitution modifier with your reaction. Multiverse's version can use this more often.

7 Tiefling

A more unorthodox choice, to be fair, but it may work depending on what you're going for. Though your ability-score bonuses won't be as helpful, this is a good choice if your DM allows you to use variants because Tiefling has quite an interesting variant option: they can be winged.

Wings can be a game changer, and you won't need to worry about armor weight since you (probably) won't be wearing one. Quick maneuverability will compensate for your lack of ranged options, and a strong character who can fly has the fun tactic of catching and dropping enemies. Aarakocras are an interesting alternative here too, but with different values. Up to you which option suits your character better.

6 Bugbear

The Bugbear is a good option for a Barbarian who also wants the occasional stealth — or a good 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Barbarian-Rogue multiclass. Both versions offer similar things, but the Multiverse's option once again offers something better for you to play.

You'll get resistance against being charmed (helpful, since Barbarians are good targets for charm spells), extended reach for your weapons — which can be combined with reach weapons like glaive — more carrying capacity, a stealth skill for free, and extra damage on a surprise attack. Your enemies will die without realizing what happened.

5 Yuan-Ti

Despite some nerfs from newer editions, both options are still viable. Volo's Yuan-Ti won't be helpful with their ability scores, but they have poison immunity, and are resistant to magical effects, giving you an advantage on any saving throws against them.

Multiverse's version changed the poison immunity to resistance, but you can choose which ability scores you want a bonus on, so it's a fair trade. Their magical resistance will only work against spells though, not any magical effect. A good option for extra resistance though.

4 Minotaur

The Minotaur is another option with multiple versions, and they can help you move around quickly and cause damage. Both have horns as a natural weapon, and they can both give you a ꧙horn attack as a bonus action if you used Dash during your action. If you attack with your action, you also gain𒉰 a free shove in your bonus action to use.

The difference here is that Ravnica's version has specific ability scores to increase while Multiverse's doesn't, and the skill proficiencies will be different. Still, they're almost the same thing.

3 Leonin

The Leonin is slightly faster than most species and has a better increase in Constitution rather than Strength, making this another interesting option, focused more on defense than attack. Still, damage here is also great, with claws as natural wea♌pons, and a nice range of skill proficiencies to choose from.

What makes them a good Barbarian, especially if you're interested in being a tank rather than the main source of damage, is Daunting Roar, where you force enemies into a Wisdom saving throw. If they fail, they will be frightened of you, giving you and your allies a great advantage (pun intended) in the fight.

2 Tortle

Another interesting tank option, and one that will allow you to dump your Dexterity, so you can focus on other ability scores. Tortles have a natural armor of 17 AC. While that doesn't stack with other armor, you can still wield a shield, raising your AC even more.

You also gain a natural weapon, and you can enter your shell in extreme situations, raising your AC to 21. It's a very limiting move, however, so be careful when using it.

1 Human

The joker of character creation, Humans work well with any class. They won't get you anything particularly interesting, but they won't have big weakness either. A +1 in all ability scores makes it easy for you to prevent negative modifiers, so the charm of this species is balance.

Variant Human does offer something more exciting: a free skill proficiency and a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:free feat right at level one. But that will cost the aforementioned balance. With that said, if a free feat is your goal, Tasha's Custom Lineage could be a more interesting pick.
