This spell is equal parts a buffing spell for your companions and a damage spell. The first part of Guiding Bolt sends a mote of light racing🧔 towards a target within 120-feet of you, which is pretty impressive range-wise.

Depending on a ranged spell attack, the target may take 4d6 radiant damage, but that's not all. If it hits, the next person who attacks that target gets advantage on that attack. You can also upcast this for increased radiant damage per spell slot.

Get creat🍨ive on when you cast this. Doing so right be🌼fore a paladin tries to smite a target can lead to some devastating effects.

Sunbeam does quite a bit in one action. A ray of hyper-bright 𒅌light lances out from your outstretched hand five-feet wide and 60-feet long, as it does so, everything caught by the beam must 🦋make a constitution saving throw.

On a fail, they take 6d8 radiant damage, and gain the blinded condition. On a save, they take half damage and aren't blinded. You can resend out new beams each turn for up to a minute, but, in the meantime, your hand gives off light to up to 30 feet.

There are few spells that embody clerics as much as Spiritual Weapon does, which makes sense considering they're the only class that can cast it. The casting itself makes a ghostly, floating weapons related to your deity in question float in the air at the place you cast it.

It's an interesting spell since it runs somewhat like a summoning, but the Spiritual Weapon doesn't have HP and is somewhat incorporeal, so it avoids the drama of worrying about a summoned creature.

Force damage i💯s a great way to damage enemies, especially in later games, as not many things allow for force damage resistances.

You know it's a damage spell with a name like Inflict Wounds. It's one of the few cleric damage spells that runs off of a melee spell attack, but don't let that odd mechanic dissuade you; it can be quite a deadly spell.

If you hit your target, they take 3d10 necrotic damage, which is pretty impressive for a first level spell, and one that doesn't require a check as well. It's also a first-level spell, which means that, not only do you get it early on in your character's adventures, but every level you upcast it with also adds another d10 to the damage.

4 🎀 Toll Of Th🍬e Dead

For those clerics who have chosen a god of the dead, or those who maybe just enjoy necrotic damage, Toll of the Dead is a great damage spell for you to look in to. What better way to make something dead than necrotic damage? Hell's bells indeed where this spell is concerned.

This cantrip targets a single character within 60-feet and makes them try to succeed on a wisdom saving throw. If they fail, they take 1d8 necrotic damage. That is, unless... they aren't at max HP, in which case they take 1d12 necrotic damage. This amount goes up too as you level up. It's a great cantrip to hold onto and use whenever you start to narrow down an enemy's health.

Just be sure to avoid using this on undead creatures. They don't seem to care much about necrotic damage. Go figure...

3 Firestorm

Where spells are concerned, few are 🀅looked on as fondly as those that do fire damage. If you want to light a lot of things on fire at once, then there are worse places to look than that of Firestorm, but what would you expect from a seventh level damage spell?

Within a range of 150 feet, you can pick an area that combined equals up to ten ten-foot cubes, which is filled with raging fire. A dexterity saving throw means the difference between 7d10 fire damage and half as much. Plus, anything that is flammable that isn't being worn or carried also catches fire, so be careful where you choose to cast it.

While bugs aren't super common in D&D, when they appear due to a spell's effects, it's rarely for a good reason. Thankfully, as long as you're the one casting Insect Plague you'll have nothing to worry about.
