168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dune: Awakening’s test server is soon going to run an experiment where 50 percent of the Deep Desert endgame is converted to PvE. On the live servers, and since the start of the game, 90 percent of൲ the Desert has been in a constant PvP state. This is a huge shift in design ethos and might just 🎃be the sort of overhaul the game needs, because at the moment the endgame zerging is destroying the experience for anyone not involved.

Zerg -

Originates from the StarCraft games and the Zerg race, defined as ‘to overwhelm an opponent with a number ꦇof relatively weak 💦units.’

I’ve never had a problem with zergs while playing Dune, but it struck me yesterday that I might actually be a part of the problem. I’m a part of a small but dedicated guild. We don’t fill up a 30-man roster, but we do have some players who I’m pretty sure haven’t slept more than four hours a night since the game was released. We prowl the edge of the Deep Desert because there isn’t really anything else to do. Bored PvP’ers are the worst, 168澳洲幸运🌊5开奖网:because boredom quickly turns to ꦡgriefing.

Our server is a little more balanced, however. We aren’t the biggest fish, and there are plenty of other guilds who regularly duke it out with us for absolutely no reason other than it’s something to do. We don’t really need many supplies or much more spice, although more is always nice. There are a few people in our guild that still need some proper Tier 5 and Tier 6 gear, but we’re pretty much at a point of completion - hence why I’ve 📖been experienℱcing some burnout with the game (totally my fault, of course.)

However, it appears that our little server might be a rare one. I’ve talked to friends, read Reddit posts, trawled through YouTube comments and forum posts, and it seems like quite a lot of servers are experiencing some pretty awful zerging. So much so that it makes the Deep Desert essentially impenetrable for most players, particularly if you’re in a small group𓆏, and definitely if you’re solo.

Just Removing PvP From The Game Seems Like A Poor Balancing Decision

It’s clear Funcom is listening to the players, and it has been very receptive to player feedback so far iꦐn general. I’m confident it’ll be able to figure out a way to bring balance to the Deep Desert, while also gi💯ving both PvE and PvP players a reason to play the game. That being said, simply changing half of the Deep Desert into a PvE zone seems to miss the mark.

This doesn’t appease PvP players. They will still roam the edge of the desert trying to catch players unawares. It just means that more PvE players can access t🧸hings like shipwrecks and spice flows. But it removes some of the jeopardy of that endgame expe♐rience. The whole concept of Awakening’s endgame just seems to fall flat.

There are many better options: give the PvP players a reason꧙ to fight each other. I honestly think more arena-based combat, not in instanced lobbies but naturally occurring in the world, would give PvPers a good reason to duke it out with each other. Provide meaningful rewards for combatting other players on foot (not in Ornithopters) and you’d have an endgame more similar to your typical MMO.

One of the biggest problems with the game✱ is a lack of name tags. In big PvP fights in shipwrecks and during base raids, you just have no idea who is who. It’s a massive cluster bomb of nonsense and it feels absolutely terrible to play. I understand why Funcom has done this: to prevent zerging. It clearly isn’t working, though, and the syste♍m needs to be reconsidered. Why be in a guild if you can’t even tell who you are fighting?

Finally, the issue with turning the endgame zone into a PvE area is that the game ultimately feels exactly the same as all the rest of the grinding you’ve just done. There’s no extra challenge or🍸 trepidation. Just more caves to empty, more chests to loot, more useless NPCs to kill. It’s not really a PvE endgame without raids or other organized content. The game just seems undercooked on this front, and if Funcom wants players to stick around, it’ll need to address this sooner rather than later.
