So, how do𝔉es Water Discipline work in Dune: Awakening? If you're landing on Arrakis for the first time, you might have questions about the best ways to keep yourself hydrated. That's why we've created this guide, which has everything you need to know about Water Discipline in Dune: Awakening.

How Does Water Discipline Work?

A player character in Dune: Awakening traversing Arrakis.

As you traverse across Arrakis, you'll notice on the left-hand side of your HUD that you have a water meter that shows how hydrated you are.

If this meter ever runs out, you will die and have to respawn. That means you'll need to constantly be drinking water as you play to stay alive.

There are many different ways to consume and find water on Arrakis, which we'll go into in greater detail below.

Ultimately, though, any water is good water, and you 🥂should always be rehydrating when possib🤡le.

How To Improve Your Water Discipline

A player character building a Sub-Fief in Dune: Awakening.

From the get-go on Arrakis, your main source of water will be drinking dew from various plants you'll find nearby.

You can also find water in various containers inside ships or facilities.

While both of these options work, most of the time, these containers are few and far between, and dew will only fill up your hydration meter about a third of the way.

Water Containers are usually found inside Imperial Facilities or crashed shipwrecks. You can also buy water at Trade Outposts, but it's expensive.

So, you'll want to utilize one of three methods to improve your Water Discipline:

  1. Research Water Discipline
  2. Craft Water Tech
  3. Master Traversal

Research Water Discipline

The Essentials/Journey Research Tree in Dune: Awakening.

In your research menu, there's a sub-category of research known as Water Discipline. By spending Intel and researching various tech, you can improve your Water Discipline.

While there are dozens of options at your disposal in this research tree, there are three main pieces of research to focus on:

  1. Stillsuits
  2. Blood Extractors & Purifiers
  3. Dew Harvesters

These pieces of technology allow you to recycle water from your body to drink, extract and drink blood from fallen enemies, and harvest dew from plants.

If you're ever preparing to traverse a large stretch of the desert, it's pretty much always a good idea to have a Stillsuit equipped, even though the armor plating isn't tha🍸t strong.

Craft Water Tech

A fabricator at work in Dune: Awakening.

From there, once you've researched various equipment like Stillsuits, Blood Extractors, and more, you'll want to craft these items to take with you on your journey.

Once you've researched the Blood Purifier, make sure you're returning to your Sub-Fief often and filling it with blood, so that you always have a water supply.

In addition to these technologies, you can also craft Water Tech like Water Carriers to help carry large vats of water🔯 with you across the desert.

If you don't have a Blood Sack with you when crossing Arrakis, you can't harvest blood from fallen enemies. Make sure you always have one equipped.

Master Traversal

A player on a sandbike in Dune: Awakening.

Lastly, while tech and water equipment are always going to be your best bet for improving your Water Discipline, you'll also want to improve your traversal skills as well.

While traveling, you can drink raw blood, but you'll take a hit to your max HP.

As taught in the tutorial, sticking to the shade on Arrakis reduces your water intake, whilܫe staying out in the sun too long increases it dramatically.

Additionally, consider expediting research on vehicles to get across the desert faster. If you have a sandbike, for🍎 example, you can get to and from your Sub-Fief faster, me𝓡aning you'll consume less water during your journey.

Most vehicles, like sandbikes, can be customized to have storage containers attached to them, mean𝔍ing you can also store water containers on them.
