Gautstafr has a bad back and, therefore, is quite a slow person to escort, and there are likely to be many compulsory combat encounters to accost y🔴ou as you make your way over the (thankfully short) distance between his ho💜me and the hot springs. We recommend using either of the following methods to get this done safely and efficiently:
- Placing a Portcrystal at the Volcanic Island Camp before taking this quest on and using a Ferry Stone to transport Gautstafr to the camp once he's following you.
- Eliminate the combat encounters between Gautstafr's home and the hot springs before taking on the quest so you don't have to worry about him taking too much damage or dying on the journey.
Be wary on the beach between the two points - this is the spawn point for both a griffin and a minotaur.
If Gautstafr gets lost or takes too much damage, he may just return home. You'll need to meet up with him again to resume the escort portion of the quest. If Gautstafr dies, you'll need to revive him with a Wakestone either immediately or after he's t𒈔ransported to the morgue in Battahl.
Once you reach the Volcanic Island Camp with Gautstafr in tow, climb the ladders and head to the hot springs. Once you're both 🅰there, a cutscene will begin in which the quest completes.
