Just like in the real world, seasons are pretty important in Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince. Not only does each season change what an area looks like, but it also brings new monsters, and opens up previously inaccessible paths throug🐟h freezing water or bringing up bones to make a bridge.

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince - All Up🐲grꦑadeable Talents
This guide detဣails how to upgrade monster talents and lists every upgrade available in the game.
It takes time for seasons to change though, especially in cases where you want Winter, but you've jus♈t entered Spring. What if you see a Monster Egg on a seasonal area, and want it right away? You don't always have to wait. We🧸'll show you the two different ways you can change seasons on the fly.
How To Use Seasoning
The first way of seasoning changing you'll get access to besides just waiting for it to arrive is the Seasoning item.
Seasoning's a consumable Treasure Item that, when used from your inventory, advances the season forward by one, such as turning the world from Spring to Summer♐, or from Winter to Spring.
You can use multiple Seasonings in a row to advance the season to whichever one you want or need, but you'll need to wait a few seconds in between each use, and you can't be on any season-specific crossing, or else the Seasoning will fail.
Seasonings can be obtained in a few different ways as you progress:
- Finding them in treasure chests in the world.
- There's a chance for it to drop when defeating enemies in battle, especially those in the Upper Echelons.
- Breaking pots has a random chance of dropping them after you've reached the Circle of Caprice.
You can equip accessories like the Scavenger's Badge, Scavenger's Medal, and Cupcake Cane onto your monsters to increase your chance of obtaining Seasonings, and other items.
How To Obtain The Four Seasons Flute
The other way to change seasons is using the Four Seasons Flute, a key item that allows you to infinitely change the seasons.
The Four Seasons Flute is a post-game item, and obtaining it requires you to not only defeat the final boss, but also defeat three very difficult post-game bosses: Estark Venjah, Wyrmsworth, and Azabel.
After beating the final battle and going through some cutscenes, you'll get an invitation to visit the Whispwoods from Ludo. Accepting it will grant you access to the post-game area, the Wispwoods, and as you go through the area, you'll be faced with the three bosses.
How To Beat Estark
The first boss you'll be fighting is Estark Venjah. He uses a lot of AOE attacks, both magic and physical, and frequently uses Brake Wind to make himself immune to breath attacks.
He also enjoys spamming Disruption Wave, getting rid of all your buffs.
- Use debuffing attacks like Blunt, Dim, Deceleratle, and Sap to lower Estark's stats to keep his damage low even if he gets rid of your buffs.
- Alternatively, you can also use debuffing skills like Attack Attacker, or debuffing items like Bluntium as back-ups.
- Bounce can not only keep Kaswooshle from killing your monsters, but also do some great damage to Estark when it's reflected.
- Spells like Dazzleflash and Sandstorm remain incredibly useful and lower Estark's accuracy.
- Make sure you have a good healing monster with talents like Cure-All or Mystic to keep your team healthy.
Once Estark is dead, and you go into the next area, you'll get another cutscene once you approach the tree, and it'll be time for the second boss, Wyrmsworth.
How To Beat Wyrmsworth
While Estark favored physical attacks, Wyrmsworth is all about AOE elemental attacks, and he'll frequently use Fizzle to prevent your monsters from casting spells.
He'll generally use either Lightning Storm or Hellitosis, then follow it up with Fizzle each turn.
- A monster with Brake Wind can drastically reduce the damage you'll take, since it will block the breath attack, Hellitosis.
- Bring at least one monster with Physical attacks to keep up damaging Wyrmsworth, since physical damage skills aren't affected by Silence.
- Monsters with high Antimagic resistence, like The Time Being, can resist Silence and make the fight easier.
- Wyrmsworth doesn't use Disruption Wave, so you're free to buff yourself up as much as possible.
- Wave of Relief can heal Silence, as well as other status effects.
After Wyrmsworth is defeated, you'll get another short cutscene and another chance to save, and heal up. Once you're ready, come back to the area for the next boss you'll need to ✱fight, Azabel.
How To Beat Azabel
Like her child Estark, Azabel likes to primarily use AOE Attacks, and will frequently use both Disruption Wave and Wave of Relief to nullify your buffs and debuffs on her.
- Bring both Bounce and Brake Wind to help negate her powerful attacks, or a monster with the Bigger Upper trait, which gives bonus effects like Bounce when they cast buff spells.
- Having at least two monsters with Omniheal is almost required to handle her damage output, and monsters with high agility such as Phoenix work best.
- Azabel is weak to Fire, so monsters with the Fire Chief, Firebrand, or Pyrotechnician traits can do extra damage to her.
- Despite her using Disruption Wave and Wave of Relief, keep up buffing yourself and debuffing her with spells and items. The Sage trait provides all the debuff spells.
- Ensure you have a large supply of MP-healing items such as Sage's Elixers to keep up with how long the battle can go.
After Azebel is defeated, you'll get another cutscene with Ludo, and then you'll be free to walk around, heal, and leave Whispwoods again.
Head to the large tree, ignoring the set of doors that have appeared, and go to the treasure chest under the roots on the left side.
Open it up, and you'll receive the Four Seasons Flute, which gives you the power to change seasons whenever you want, and as much as you want.
While the Four Seasons Flute does change the season, the current weather in the area will remain the same.
To use the Flute, all you need to do is press ZR when in the overworld, or you can go into your inventory, and use the flute from the Key Items page to change the seasons.
