Instead of having one long campaign focusing on Goku or letting you swap between characters depending on who the fight is about, each of the eight Episode Battles focuses on a different fighter's story. When you start the game, you'll have six of these to choose from and will have to unlock the remaining two.
How To Unlock Future Trunks' Episode Battle
The first Episode Battle you'll unlock in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero focuses on Future Trunks and his battle against Goku Black and Zamasu. To gain access to this Episode Battle, you'll need to make your way through a decent chunk of Goku's story mode, all the way up to the Goku Black saga.
Once you've cleared the final canon mission of the Goku Black saga as Goku, which features you fighting Fused Zamasu as Vegito Blue, you'll unlock Future Trunks' storyline and be able to play through the events as him. You'll need to clear the battle called "In Order To Fuse..." to unlock the Episode Battle, which you'll find at the tail-end of Chapter 6 of Goku's Sagaಞ♔.
Future Trunks' Episode Battle is by far one of the toughest in the game. You're ཧgoing to want to have mastered the mechanics by then, so it's worth having a go at everyone else's story first.
How To Unlock Jiren's Episode Battle
After you've cleared the Goku Black Saga, you'll want to keep going to complete Goku's story and unlock Jiren's Episode Battle. You'll unlock Jiren's Episode Battle once you've beaten the final mission of Chapter 7 of Goku's Saga, which takes place in the Tournament of Power and is one of the hardest battles in Sparking 🔯Zero.
Once you've cleared the mission called "Goku's Strength", which has Ultra Instinct Sign Goku going up against Jiren before they both fully power up and unlocꦜk their final forms, you'll beꦓ rewarded with Jiren's Episode Battle to play through.
Don't go too hard on Jiren as Mastered Ultra Instinct Goku, as if you beat the fight too quickꦿ you'll get an alternate ending and have to play through it again to unlock the Episode Battle.
Just like with Future Trunks' Episode Battle, this lets you play through the saga through someone other than Goku's eyes, giving you a unique perspective of the Tournament of Power. Also like Future Trunks, Jiren's battle is another difficulty spike for Sparking Zero and one that's going to test your mettle no 𝓰matter how many hours you've poured into the game at that point.
