As we learn more about how Dragon Age: The Veilguard will play, fans aren't convinced that this is a good direction for the series. In fact, many of them are already fearful that this will negatively impact the game, as some say they want to journey with even more companions, not fewer.

Dragon Age Fans Want Larger Parties In The Veilguard

"I'll be honest, I'm still not convinced on only being able to bring two companions with me," says Reddit user TheBlightDoc. "With only a party of three, am I gonna have to leave behind companions that are the same class as me? Like, if I'm a warrior, I'm only gonna be taking mage and rogue companions, and vice versa, and I don't want that. Does team comp not matter anymore?"

Many in the replies agree. "I'd prefer the usual four just for more banter and team variability," says Vindilol24.

True enough, mods to remove party limits are incredibly popular in RPGs like this, as fans are often looking for ways to bring more companions into battle. This is something Dragon Age has accounted for in the past, when Dragon Age 2 let us have a party of four and a dog, as opposed to haꦆving the dog take up a normal slot in Origins.

However, The Veilguard is taking the opposite approach, and judging by the fans' response to this, it will have to do something great with this new set-up to justify such a move. We'll see for ourselves if it can pull this off when it launches this autumn.
