While romance isn't on the menu for this quest, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy Emmrich's company as you work together to free trapped spirits 💎while en route to a dan💦gerous encounter.

After the cutscene and briefing🍎 from Emmrich, your quest begins at Blackthorne Manor as you enter the courtyard.

Approach and enter the mansion through the front door, following your marker inside to the Grand Foyer and up the stairs to the right.

Follow your marker down the hall to the Blackthorne Library, where your quest will update, telling you to search for signs of necromancer activity.

Drop off the ledge and approach the door with the glowing green seals on either side of it.

How To Open The Blackthorne Library Door

Emmrich will chime in and tell you to head southwest and northeast to where the Hand Of Glory points.

From the door, head to your left and enter the Abandoned Study.

Follow the stairs up to the North East Wing until you reach the Master Bedroom, where you'll find a tortured green skeleton.

After some dialogue, several Frenzied Shades (weak to Cold, resist Necrotic damage) will appear for you to defeat.

Once they're down, Emmrich will free the bound spirit in this room a⛦nd compel you t🌜o find the other ones.

Pass the Ruined Balcony and enter the Guest Room, where you'll find a second tortured spirit for Emmrich to free.

This time, you'll need to defeat a group of Devouring Shades and help Emmrich free this spirit.

Once the spirit is free, go back to the Blackthorne Library, where you'll be able to open the now-unsealed door to reveal a portal to The Fade.

Once in The Fade, you'll come across a door that needs you to deliver a wisp to a receptacle beside the door to unlock it.

Follow the hidden path on the right up to the wisp, then deliver it to the receptacle to unlock the door.

Continue along the path and defeat any Darkspawn along the way, following your marker down a slope and up a leﷺdge♈, where you'll trigger a cutscene.

Here, you'll be introduced to Johanna Hezenkoss, our rogue necromancer, and an acquaintance of Emmri🤪ch's.

Johanna will taunt you and then disappear, leaving you to deal with a horde of enemies, including Despair Demons (weak to Fire, resist Cold damage).

Once the enemies are🌳 cleared out, attempt to free the final spiri🔯t with Emmrich.

Unfortunately, Johanna trapped the spirit's essence in a lantern before she fled, so you will need to escape The Fade and pursue Johanna Hezenkoss.

How To Escape The Fade

Follow your marker until you find a candle in the area. Emmrich will remark on it and implore you to find more candles to help escape The Fade.

Locate a second candle held by a statue in the eastern area nearby and cl💝aim it, then bring both candles to the pedestals Emmrich marks for you.

Emmrich will construct a bridge that helps you to reach the portal and escape The Fade.

Confront Johanna

Once you return to ♛the mansion, you'll hear Johanna's voice, but she's nowher﷽e to be seen.

Make a beeline for the Main Hall by following your marker and enjoy th♚e cutscene encounter that plays out.

After Johanna finishes her speech and escapes again, you'll be left to defeat Rampant Ego, a modified Pride Demon that is joined by a horde of Lesser P🅘ride Demons.

Pride Demons and Rampant Ego share the same weakness against Necrotic damage and resistance to Electric.

Be careful not to get trapped in a corner, and prior🐲itize attacks that target your enemies' weak🧜nesses, as this will help to keep them contained.

Focus on Rampant's Ego's shield and don't let it f﷽ully recharge, or you'll need to remꦫove it again.

Once the enemies are defeated, you'll have a chance to explore the area and can talk to Emmrich when you're done.
