One of the most persistent rumours that has been swirling around the Xbox showcase over the last few months is that id Software is going to reveal a new Doom game called Doom: The Da♊rk Ages. Those rumours suggested that it'd be "medieval-inspired" and that it could even be coming to PS5 as a multiplatform release, something that was just confirmed at the showcase.

Doom: The Dark Ages Is Real

The trailer for Doom: The Dark Ages shows the Doom Slayer (complete with a sick cape) in what appears to be medieval times and going up against a horde of monsters. Although that's nothing new for the Slayer, he's now equipped with a shield that can be used to block attacks and even decapitate enemies.

Although the name is different, it appears that Doom: The Dark Ages is the same "Doom: Yea꧑r Zero"🤡; game that was leaked back in 2023.

That's not all, though, as the Doom Slayer was also shown riding a fire-breathing dragon and even using a big mech. All Doom is good Doom, but god damn does this look like some good Doom. Sadly, we're going to be waiting a little while to see The Dark Ages, as it's currently set for release in 2025.

At the very least, it was after the showcase came to a close that The Dark Ages is also coming to PlayStation 5. So, whenever it launches in 2025, we'll be able to pick it up on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
