Instead of continuing with the MOBA genre, developer Hi-Rez Studios decided to create Divine Knockout. This spin-off of Smite lets you play as gods and fight in 3D fighting arenas. Instead of the standard health bars you get, you'll hit your enemies to build their percentage, allowing you to knock them off the map.
Even though the premise seems simple, the game can quickly become challenging as you play online against other players. You may wonder how you can win more matches and make the most out of your experience, so ensure you go through th🍌e best beginner tips to understand the game.
Create Your Loadout Beforehand
You may think you can adjust your loadout once you get into a match and select a god. However, you can only choose between the three options you made beforehand. Instead, you must choose the Gods tab at the top of the screen. Selectꦗ the character you want to play from there, and choose the Talents tab.
You should use all three Talent Sets to create three options for the game modes: 3v3, 2v2, and 1v1. With 3v3, you may want some talents that help you in groups, and you'll want to focus on yourself with 1v1 and find a balance between both for 2v2. Even th𓄧ough it may seem excessive, yoꦛu can always swap between them and test them to see which combinations you prefer.
Hop Into The Training Mode
The game doesn't mention this, but you can try out every god in the game through Training mode. To access it, choose the Play button,🏅 pi🉐ck the Practice tab, and select Training mode. From there, pick the god you want to try out and use them in the practice mode.
You should do this as soon as you finish the tutorial to see what each god offers. If you don't purchase any of the characters, it'll take a while to unlock all the gods.
For example, you can use star points or level up your account to get them. Since it takes a while to unlock them, you'll want to know how each god plays, so you'll know which one you want to unlock first.
For example, you may love how Athena plays, but you find out you don't like Ymir. You then know to buy Athena first and wait until later to unlock Ymir. You can keep track of your most to least favorite gods and pick them in that order. It takes more time to unlock them each time you earn a god coin, so you'll want to go with your favorite characters first.
Use Your Recovery Ability As A Last Resort
Every champion has a recovery ability they can use to return to the stage. However, these moves have long cooldowns, so you should only use them when you can't get back to the arena. Otherwise, the enemy may knock you away and end up knocking you away from the stage if you don't have your recovery ready.
Instead of immediately using your ability, start by trying to jump back to the stage. Then, you should dodge towards it and perform a light attack at the end of your dodge. Once the attack ends, you should wait until you start to fall and perform a hea♏vy attack.
The two animations should give you enough time for your dodge to return,🌳 so you can dodge again. That should give you enough distance to return to the stage without your reco💮very unless you end up too far away.
Generally, you should use your movement ability if you get too close to the arena's edge. You'll know you're at that point if you see a red grid appear, showing you the boundaries. That usually indicates you're too far away to use the other recovery method, so try to jump closer and take advantage of your recovery.
Don't Be Afraid To Run
As your percentage builds, you become more likely to get knocked out and lose a life. Since your special moves have cooldowns, you'll need to keep your distance and wait for them to return.
For example, Sol's basic attacks come out slower than Amaterasu's, so you may struggle to attack her without your abilities. Instead of fighting her head-on, try to run for a while and let those cooldowns return before you fight.
Enemies can also interrupt your abilities with their attacks. As such, you may want to dodge and run until they try an attack. Once they're in end lag from their moves, you can counter them with one of your abilities.
Otherwise, they could close the distance, land a hit, and make you waste your move. Running away applies even more for game modes such as Oddball, where you must keep the crown. You can even use your recovery move to launch yourself to another part of the stage, so you'll gain more points while avoiding enemies.
Hold Onto Your Ultimate Ability
Your ultimate ability takes a while to charge, so you'll want to hold onto it for the right moment. Every ultimate can miss in this game, so figuring out the timing matters. However, you may find some super moves easier to land than others.
King Arthur and Amaterasu have specials that hit close to them. You can make it even easier for King Arthur by using his stun move before unleashing his ultimate. If you can close the distance, you can guarantee a hit if they don't have their dodge.
On the other hand, ultimate moves, like Sol's and Athena's, require proper aiming to use.
If you want an effective way to land a special, run up to your enemy and play aggressively. Eventually, they'll have to dodge, so watch for the animation and immediately aim your special move. Since they have to wait a few seconds to use their dodge again, you can guarantee a hit as long as 🧔you aim in the rigಞht direction.
Unless you're the last knockout of the match, you'll keep your ultimate ability and its current percentage. That means you shouldn't feel like you must use it for fear of losing it.
If you get it at a high percentage and you're not near the end of the match, hold off on using it after an enemy tries to attack you or when you revive.
Use Your Dodge Sparingly
Every god has a built-in dodge they can use to avoid attacks. When you successfully dodge, you'll see the word appear on the screen, showing you used it correctly. However, the dodge has about a three-second cooldown, so you can't use it whenever you feel like it. Otherwise, you may use the dodge only to find out they have their ultimate ability ready.
Generally speaking, you have three maiওn circumstances you want to use your dod🍒ge.
- Avoid an attack.
- Recover back to the stage.
- Close the distance.
Most people use their roll to avoid attacks, such as specials and utimates. However, you can use your evasive maneuver to help you get back to the stage. On top of that, your opponents may try to edge guard you, so time your dodge to avoid their attack and make it back.
If the enemy keeps running away, consider using your dodge to close the distance. You cꦓan quickly dodge, use a powerful attack, and send your opponent flying.
Divine Knockout s𝐆eems complicated, especially as you play against more experienced players. However, the game heavily rewards you as you practice and become comfortable with the different gods. Do your best to apply the best tips, try out the gods, and see which ones will help you win matches against other players.
