The 11 Best Disney 'I Want' Songs

Those huge iconic "I want" 💝songs from Disney touch all of us who have ever been through those emotions. Here are the best songs.

But with such a large roster, there are characters that don't get as much attention from the fan base as they should. And in some cases, even if they have a lot of fans, Disney overlooks them constantly. And you know what? That's not okay.

This list solely focuses on animated Disney characters. There won't be any live-action characters, no matter how underrated they may be.

9 Tarzan

Tarzan

Tarzan in a jungle holding Jane's hand

Okay, wait for the reasoning on this one. Tarzan is an incredible protagonist whose story is propelled by love, for both his family and his romantic love. Unlike some other male Disney characters, this isn't a story about becoming a man by being stronger or working harder or achieving some sort of title or position of power. Instead, it's about putting others first.

Another refreshing thing about his character is that he is comfortable with his ability and masculinity. That's not a point made purely in "wokeness" as some may think, but he shows that you can be multifaceted. Strong but sensitive, empathetic but with healthy boundaries and a good sense of right and wrong.

8 🥂 Mamá Coco💦

Coco

Miguel from Coco kissing Mamá Coco's cheek while she smiles.

The first Disney/Pixar character on this list🍷 is Mamá Coco. Although she doesn’t participate in the story very much, she is the driving force behind it. The movie is named after her for crying out loud. But it goes much deeper than what the movie is named for.

Many people, as they grow older, experience their family growing older. This can be a very difficult process to go through, especially when they go through health issues, like Alzheimer's or Dementia. Even if your family is lucky enough to not go through these diseases or other chronic illnesses, memory is still lost over time.

Having a story and a character that is accessible for kids and adults alike is a helpful reminder that you aren't alone and that, even if memories fade or loved ones are lost, they are never truly gone.

7 Kiara

The Lion King II: Simba's Pride

Young Kiara pictured over a simple, gradient background

Disney's sequels are not always the best, but The Lion King II is a worthy addition to one of the most popular Disney animated movies. The characters that are added to the original cast are fantastic. But instead of going on for 1,000 words about how hot Kovu is, this entry is all about Simba's daughter, Kiara.

These princesses wouldn't be the same without these bange🥀rs.

At first glance, it seems like she's listening to her heart more than her head. Again, Kovu is too attractive for a cartoon lion. But Kiara sees the bigger picture, that there shouldn't be a division between the lions of the Pride Lands and those that live in the Outlands. Instead of warring with them, she unites them. Like a real leader Simba.

6 Chicha

The Emperor's New Groove

Chicha is pictured looking down at something off-screen.

Chicha is a magnificent wife, a wonderful mother, and just an overall relatable character. She reflects that pregnancy isn't a skip through some magical park with singing animals. And she even shows that raising children means putting up with annoying, repetitive fights between kids or "look what I can do" demands.

She also trusts Pacha when he asks her to distract the main antagonist who shows up looking for him. And she does this with humor and quick thinking. No powers. No sidekicks. Just good, old-fashioned tricks and playing dumb, which you know from all the other scenes she's in, she is far from that.

5 ꩵ Captai🧜n Amelia

Treasure Planet

Captain Amelia holding the map to Treasure Planet

Name another female Disney Captain. Go on. We'll wait. Seriously, there is so much to love about Captain Amelia. She's incredibly bright, very independent, and adds so much to the scenes she is in. In the beginning, she is very concerned about the crew that's been hired to work under her command and, ding-dong, she was right.

But even as the situation on her ship a﷽nd through the rest of the movie spirals out of control, she stays calm and collected, able to direct those around her when she is injured.꧒ How her mannerisms are animated makes her feel so alive and dynamic as well.

4 💮 Claude Fr♋ollo

The Hunchback Of Notre Dame

Claude Frollo smirking as he looks straight ahead.

Frollo may not have the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:iꦗconic looks of other popular Disney villains like Ursula and Hades. But Frollo is easily one of the most frightening antagonists because of how realistic he is and that there are people in o🦩ur world who mimic his diabolical nature. He threatens in 💝his amazing song "Hellfire" to burn down the entire city of Paris just to find Esmeralda. All because she both embarrassed him and stirred some lustful feelings in him.

He also gives her the all-or-nothing offer that she will be burned alive or, hear him out, live a miserable life as his lover. And that's before factoring in killing Quasimodo's mother, locking Quasi in a church, killing hundreds of Romani, plus so much more. He makes some of the other Disney villains look like angels.

3 🔜 Meilin "Mei" Li🀅ng

Turning Red

Meilin (Mei) Lee as a giant red panda in her room from 2022 turning red

This Disney/Pixar character is the unfortunate victim of people missing 168💦澳洲幸运5开奖网:the whole point of her character and🌼 Turning Red. The waves of critical articles an♌d comments that came out after the movie was launched on Disney+ took one of two stances:

  1. How could they make a character who defies their parents?
  2. How could they make such a cringe and unrealistic character?

Both these takes are wrong. This is not the first time a Disney character has defied their parents. Rapunzel? Ariel? Mulan? Kiara? So many great stories have a child or young adult going against their parents or stepparents because they were wrong, abusive, or simply didn't understand them. Yet those others were praised. As for Mei being cringe, nearly every person is cringe at some point in their childhood. Mei is so realistic and finally allowed so many to embrace that younger self.

2 ⛄ Princess Kida

Atlantis

Kida smiling as she's illuminated by blue light.

When Disney shows off their impressive line-up of Princesses, it is a crime that Kida is never shown. Unlike a lot of the others, Kida was born into royalty. She didn't find a Prince through some sing-song moment and marry him for a crown.

She's a warrior, leading others into unknown situations. She cares so deeply for her people and wants to do what is best for them. And when her world is threatened, she sacrifices herself to the Heart of Atlantis, the very thing that took her mother's life, not even knowing if Milo or anyone else would be able to save her.

1 Nani

Lilo & Stitch

Nani from Lila and Sitich against a wall with a smile as she points to Lily, who is off screen.

If one more person says that Frozen is the best, or even worse, the only depiction of sisterly love, Stitch's badness level is going to soar through the roof! After Nani and Lilo's parents pass away, Nani takes on the role as Lilo's guardian. Not only does she care for Lilo, this wasn't some story about inheriting money and living in some huge mansion. There was no income. And Nani needed to provide for her kid sister.

While Stitch takes up the spotlight, Nani deserves all of that and more. Her character is about hard work and sacrifice. She shows that being an adult is not perfect. It's messy and scary and even when you try your hardest, things don't always work out. And she should be loved so much more than she already is because of that.
