When Does Disney Dreamlight Valley Leave Early Access?

After several important story updates that wrapped up the main story's first chapter, many gameplay aspects refined, new quests and characters added, and a plentiful assortment of items to customize your home and character with, it's time for the official launch.

If you haven't purchased Disney Dreamlight Valley yet, or if you're looking to expand your game, you won't want to miss this opportunity.

While Disney Dreamlight Valley has been in Early Access for over a year now, the official launch of the game comes this winter. On December 5th, 2023, Disney Dreamlight Valley leaves its Early Access stageꦦ and enters the open market with its fir♏st Expansion Pack.

This exciting update comes with more news as well, including details about the Expansion Pass, the newly announced Gold Edition, and expectations going forward. There's a lot in store for the future of the valley, and we're excited to explore it.

Is Dreamlight Valley Free To Play?

The long-awaited free-to-play release of Disney Dreamlight Valley has been discontinued. Rather, the game will not be free-to-play as previously anticipated. Instead, the game can be accessed via Founder's Packs until December 4th, 2023.

On December 5th, after the official release, the game can be purchased digitally and physically.

The choice to remain a paid game for the foreseeable future comes as a surprise to some, but the choice ultimately reflects the desire to continue providing a magical e𒊎xperience.

While the announcement comes with some disappointment, understandably, there will still be free content updates going forward in the game.

Additional content can be purchased using Moonstones or through future Expansion Pass that open the valley to more adventure.

Moonstones will remain an optional purchase and can still be obtained for free through DreamSnaps and Chests found in the valley.

What Comes With The Rift In Time Expansion Pass?

With news of the first Disney Dreamlight Valley Expansion Pass, it seems like there is plenty of adventure on the horizon.

There are new gameplay features underway, as well as new characters to meet, animal companions to befriend, and biomes to explore!

Don't worry, even without the pass, there's more content in store.

Based on the roadmap for 2024, the paid Disney Dreamlight Valley expansion pack will unlock the beginning stages of the new chapter, though it will be rolled out in stages during the first half of the year. From the moment it releases, you'll be able to meet the new characters.

New areas will be unlocked later in spring after you've had plenty of time to get to know your new neighbors. Additionally, summer is where it will all come to a head and the new chapter will expand to facing off with Jafar to fix the rift in time.

New Characters

Looking at the official art, it appears like there will be new characters, like Gaston, Rapunzel, and EVE, which have bඣeen confirmed in the Disney Dreamlight Valley Showcase.

Now that the Forgetting has been dealt with, it's time to face a new villain: Jafar. His latest scheme has gone horribly wrong, and you'll have to help him get out of it with a new Royal Tool.

You'll be able to adventure across Eternity Isle to meet these new friends, and the newest villains, in your journey to restore the valley to its former glory. While not much is known about Eternity Isle right now, it seems like it will include new biomes and critters.

New Biomes

There are three new biomes included with the expansion. The first is Ancient's Landing, where you'll explore the remnants of a port town's civilization. While the people are long gone, the mystery remains.

There are also new machines that can help you complete your duties.

While not confirmed, the statues around🐻 Eternity Isle appear to resemble the Stone Guardians from Atlantis.

The next two biomes are actually the same one, but split in two thanks to Jafar's time rift conundrum. The Glittering Dunes feature the palace from Agrabah looming in the distance with warm sands and cactus.

On the other side is the Wild Tangle, which is a jungle biome that comes with new assets for trees and plants. These can be used to decorate your village.

The new biomes are about the size of the original village and come with their own object count, so you can decorate them to your heart's content.

There are plenty of hidden areas in the new biomes, so make sure to🔜 explore𒁃 thoroughly.

New Critters

With new biomes come new critters to befriend. These critters include monkeys, cobra snakes, and capybara. There will also be new resources and ingredients to collect.

The Disney Dreamlight Valley Expansion Pack will be required to progress through the next chapter of the main story, but it is not necessary to purchase to enjoy the game. The base game will still be available for purchase and to those who have been playing.

Will There Be Multiplayer?

Yes! The ValleyVerse is Disney Dreamlight Valley's multiplayer mode, which will be limited to exploring the main valley, player house, and Scrooge McDuck's Shop at launch, but there's hope for more as the game continues to grow.

If you don't like what your valley has in stock at Scrooge McDuck's shop, you can visit a friend's instead!

Online subscriptions may be required to access these fe🐲atures. It appears that up to four friends can visit your valley at a time, though the official limit is unknown.

Additionally, Cross-Play will be available as well! You can play with friends across PC, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch to explore each other's village and spend time together.

While Disney Dreamlight Valley is available on PlayStation, Cross Play will not be supported on this console at this time.

New Minigames

A new minigame has been announced: Scramblecoin. It's a fast-paced strategy game in which you use figurines of Disney and Pixar characters to collect coins. You can play this game with other villagers.

You'll get additional enjoyment out of playing the game and engaging with the other villagers in your Valley, as well as the rewards for doing so.

What's Next For The Free Content Updates?

The Free Content Roadmap is exciting, to say the least. Starting December 5th, right at launch, the ValleyVerse will be available and a new character will be added: Jack Skellington.

Late winter 2024 promises a new realm door that will reveal Monsters Inc. characters Mike and Sulley. Early spring 2024 reveals a vibrant new villager, which suggests the long-awaited Daisy Duck, though she is not officially confirmed.

Late spring appears to open another door, this time to Mulan's Realm, though her appearance has yet to be officially confirmed. Another princess was revealed as well for summer 2024, which brings the illustrious Tiana to your village.

Additionally, the next winter Star Path features new decorative items and outfits, including Belle's pink winter gown.

What Is Dreamlight Valley Arcade Edition?

Additionally announced was Disney Dreamlight Valley Arcade Edition, which features both the base game and the expansion on Apple devices exclusively.

The Arcade Edition does not have St🔯ar Paths or 🍃the Premium Shop.

Arcade mode is a complete Disney Dreamlight Valley experience through an Apple Arcade subscription. It will be available at launch.

The short answer is no. When you purchase Disney Dreamlight Valley after December 5th, it's a fully complete game by itself. The Expansion Pass aims to add more content but is not required to play the game.
