How To Complete The Heretic Questline
The entirety of this quest chain happens in the Western section of the Hawezar region. You can begin the quest by talking to Vass in Zarbinzet, the region's capital.
He will explain that there have been sightings of demons in the ne🗹arby area, and task you with discovering if there are any survivors from their latest attack.
You must travel to the nearby Abandoned Ruins, which you can locate by the Ashen Remains scattered around its entrance.
Once inside, you will hear the screams of a Frightened Girl, who will run away from you, believing you to be yet another demon. Once you have slain all the demons in the ruins, you should follow the girl to her new location close by.
Speaking with the Frightened Girl will reveal her name to be Aneta, and she will explain that she was ambushed by demons when out gathering flowers for her sick mother.
You agree to help her find these flowers. There are three flowers to find in total:
- Withered Plant
- Dying Plant
- Singed Plant
These will yield a flower of their namesake but can be tricky to locate. Spread out around the blue area on your mini-map; they lie a similar distance apart.
One is found to the northeast, one to the south, and one to the west. The easiest way of locating them is to ride around these sections until Aneta exclaims that she has found one. She will then run over to it and wait for you 😼to loot the object𝓰 before remounting.
They are hard to spot by themselves, so it is much easier to let Aneta direct you to their exact location.
Once you have found the three flowers, escort Aneta back to her mother in Zarbinzet. This is only a short ride away, although you will discover that her mother is not pleased with Aneta's absence.
You can also fast-travel back to Zarbinzet without losing Aneta as a follower NPC.
Neither is Vass, who chooses this moment to turn up at the house, accusing Aneta of Witchcraft and kidnapping her. You must now track down Aneta's whereabouts, which will be the Forgotten Cave, a story dungeon that appears just to the East of Zarbinzet, underneath a waterfall.
The residents confront Aneta, who succumbs to the dark forces controlling her, exploding in a burst of flame. This chars Vass and his people into Ashen Remainไs, summoning a fresh wave of demons, and revealing her to be the cause of the recent events.
None of these demonic enemies are very tough, so kill them off and talk to Aneta one last time. She will yell at you to stay away and run out of the cave, completing the quest chain and granting you your rewards🤡.
These rewards will be Gold, Experience, a random Crafting Material Cache, 20 Renown with Hawezar, and automatically begin the follow-up quest: A Price To Pay.
