Nightmare Dungeons are an endgame activity in Diablo 4, and one that you will be doing often as you progr𒊎ess your character. Nightmare Dungeons are powered-up versions of normal Dungeons that have rand𒀰omized affixes, making each run of the dungeon slightly different.
However, before you can unlock a Nightmare Dungeon, you need the corresponding Nightmare Sigil, which can be difficult to obtain. Below, we'll take a look at every way to get Nightmare Sigils, and how to craft higher-Tier Sigils.
How To Get Nightmare Sigils
There are several different ways to get Nightmare Sigils. Nightmare Sigils drop from Tree of Whispers reward caches, enemies inside Nightmare Dungeons, and from World Bosses.
When you first enter World Tier 3 and unlock Nightmare Dungeons, the best way to get Nightmare Sigils is to clear Tree of Whispers objectives and obtain them from the reward cache you getꩲ at the en♛d.
As you complete more and more Nightmare Dungeons, you'll build up a lot of Nightmare Sigils, although not necessarily for Dungeons or Tiers you want to run. This is where Nightmare Sigil Crafting and salvaging comes into play.
Nightmare Sigil Crafting
As soon as you enter World Tier 3, you can begin crafting your own Nightmare Sigils using Sigil Powder and some gold. Nightmare Sigil crafting is done through the Occultist NPC in major towns.
At the Occultist, you can craft Sacred and Ancestral Nightmare Sigils, which provide Sigils for Tier 1-20 and Tier 21-100 Dungeons, respectively. You will need progressively more Sigil Powder and gold the higher Tier Sigil you are꧋ crafting, as seen in the table below.

How To Get Sigil Powder
Sigil Powder is earned primarily through salvaging unwanted Nightmare Sigils, which can be done at the Occultist. The higher the Tier of the Nightmare Sigil you are salvaging, the more Sigil Powder you will get in return. In the same vein, salvaging Ancestral Nightmare Si🍰gils will reward more Powder than Common and Sacred Nightmar🤡e Sigils.
Additionally, Sigil Powder can be obtained from random events in the open world and Legion Events, meaning you'll slowly build up a supply of Sigil Powder as you complete objectives in the open world.
