In Diablo 4, you'll be using tons of materials in the endgame to upgrade and refine your gear. Upgrading your gear and enchanting it with different affixes will make you much stronger. However, upgrading your gear will come at a cost, mainly through high material and gold costs.
Iron Chunks are a common material that can be found all throughout Sanctuary, but large amounts of them are necessary for upgrading your gear. If you're running low and looking for the best ways to farm it, you've come to the right place. Below, we'll take a look at some of the best methods for gathering Iron Chunks.
How To Farm Iron Chunks
You can get Iron from salvaging gear, gathering it from Ore Veins, or directly from Ore Caches from quest rewards or chests found throughout Sanctuary. The best two methods for obtaining Iron are to salvage gear or gather it from Ore Veins. We'll take a more detailed look at each of these methods below.
Gather Ore Veins
Ore Veins and Glittering Ore Veins are your best bet for gathering lots of Iron Chunks. These mining nodes are found all across the map, so even just wandering around you'll quickly find some to gather. Iron Ore is much more common than Silver Ore, but you'll be able to stock up on both by gathering from Glittering Ore Veins.
Salvage Gear
Salvaging your unwanted gear is a great way to gather up tons of Iron Chunks. Metal-based items like most weapons or heavy plate armor will usually salvage into one to three Iron Chunks, so be sure to pick up everything you see and return to the Blacksmith frequently if you're low on Iron.
Keep in mind that non-metal items like leather boots, coats, or similar will salvage into Rawhide leather. If you don't need this material, it may be worth setting these aside and selling them directly to a merchant for gold instead.
