14 ⛦ Destiny 2ꦦ: Curse of Osiris
Curse of Osiris marks the low point for the Destiny franchise. Destiny fans were alienated with Destiny 2's core design decisions, and newcomers were shocked to see just how little content this DLC offered. In fact, some content featured in the vanilla game was locked behind this DLC for a short time, notably Prestige Nightfalls.
Destiny 2's smallest destination, Mercury, served as the backdrop for a short campaign featuring Osiris, one of Destiny's most notable Warlocks. Unfortunately, Osiris was used only to provide exposition while Guardians fought through repetitive environments in the Infinite Forest. The raid added in this DLC, Eater of Worlds, was rather fun but incredibly short.
Overall, the Curse of Osiris DLC offered virtually no content—strangely removing some for non-paying customers—during a time when Destiny 2 desperately need🌌ed to innovate.
13 Destiny: The Dark Below ﷺ 🥃
The Dark Below marks the first DLC in Destiny history. It came with a short campaign, new loot to chase, and the Crota's End raid.
Sadly, this DLC fell short of what was expected. The story missions followed the repetitive design of vanilla Destiny that many fans criticized, and the Crota's End raid was considered a disappointment to hardcore raiders that loved how difficult the Vault of Glass was during launch. Crota's End would eventually be regarded as one of the franchise's better raids, but it certainly felt underwhelming when it was bundled with such little content.
12 Destiny 2
Destiny 2 wiped the slate clean for all players, leaving behind the hundreds of weapons and armor pieces thaꦅt Destiny veterans collected through the years. Bungie promised a cinematic campa𝔉ign and much better new-player experience to help unify the Destiny experience.
If you follow Destiny at all, you lik🃏ely know how that turned out. Destiny 2 was built almost exclusively with newcomers in mind, alienating the Destiny fanbase. Subclass customization was removed. Special weapons were removed. Random rolls we꧂re no longer a thing. Armor stats were simplified so much that they were inconsequential. Crucible was so slow that players were forced to move as a group and team shot.
Destiny 2 was much easier to get into than its predecessor, yet so much was sacrificed that Destiny 2 was seen by many as 𒆙an inferior game. It would take years of updates and DLC to rebuild player trust and cr𓄧eate a game that both newcomers and veteran Guardians could enjoy.
11 ♏ Destiny 2: Shadowkeep
Destiny 2: Shadowkeep was the first DLC Bungie released since they departed from 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Activision. Many fans were excited to see what Destiny would look like with Bungie fully at the helm. Shadowkeep did not make a good first🏅 impression.
The campaign for this expansion started to explore the Darkness—the Traveler's ancient foe—but they were effectively used as window-dressing for what many consider to be Destiny 2's worst campaign from an expansion. Tons of busywork padded out the campaign's runtime, only for players to find that Shadowkeep's post-campaign content was minimal. The Pit of Heresy dungeon was fantastic, but the Garden of Salvation raid received a mixed reception from fans.
Sandbox changes also made huge strides to nerf the effectiveness of Primaries and buff stacking, leading to a much slower PvE experience that would slowly be reverted with Beyond Light and its subsequent seasons. Exploring the Moon once again and working with Eris were certainly high points, yet Shadowkeep's lack of content really stung considering the season that accompanied it, Season of Undying, was mediocre at best.
10 Destiny
Considered by many to be one of the most disappointing games of all time, Destiny still manꦏaged to pull ahead of its competition 𝕴with its masterfully-executed gunplay and stunning art direction.
Destiny had so many problems at launch that it'd be hard to list them all. The campaign was nothing short of a disaster. Character customization was stifled by the "forever 29" issue players had with Destiny's leveling system. PvP was a complete mess.
Yet all of those components were held up by Destiny's brilliant gunplay and Vault of Glass raid—arguably one of the best parts of vanilla Destiny. It needed a lot of work to become the game fans were expecting, but the foundation was solid enough to keep players engaged until The Taken King expansion fixed most of Destiny's core issues.
9 🅷 Destiny 2: Beyond Light 🐟
Beyond Light is a tricky expansion to rank. On one hand, it gave players a solid campaign, one of the best raids in franchise history, and an entirely new subclass element that is nothing short of incredible. On the other hand, Beyond Light removed three years of content from Destiny 2, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:introduced gear sunsetting, and released Stasis in such a state that Crucible was ♏utterly broken for nearly a year. Simply put, Beyond Light is the definition of a mixed bag.
Guardians got to explore the icy moon of Europa to hunt down Eramis, a Fallen Kell that planned to harness the power of Stasis to bring her people back into power. Players learn how to wield Stasis itself to stop her—the first time in Destiny history that players got to wield the Darkness. Some aspects of the campaign were underwhelming, and the grind to unlock Stasis is nothing short of a slog, yet this DLC's content offerings and early signs of Subclass 3.0 were all loved by the community.
Unfortunately, this was a period where Destiny was going through some serious growing pains. In an effort to keep the sandbox from experiencing power creep, Bungie set 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Power caps on three years worth of Destiny weapons, reducing a player's arsenal from hundreds of guns to a few dozen. Content was also on the chopping block, some of which players paid for. This removal of content, colloquially known as "sunsetting," is still regarded as the single worst thing Bungie has ever done in Destiny 2's lifespan.
Thankfully, gear sunsetting was reverted a season afterward, but the damage was already done. By today's standards, Beyond Light is a solid expansion that gives players a phenomenal subclass and raid to play with. But if we also consider the state it was released in, the Beyond Light expansion paradoxically removed more content than it added.
8 🌱 Destiny 2: Lightfall
Similar to Beyond Light, Lightfall is nothing short of a mixed bag. Strand and the systemic changes that came with this DLC were generally well-received, but there's one major elephant in the room that keeps Lightfall from sitting with the greats: its campaign.
Lightfall has the single worst campaign out of any Destiny 2 DLC. What was supposed to be humanity's breaking point turned into a Saturday morning cartoon with bombastic protagonists and a narrative that makes zero sense to even the most well-versed Destiny player. Emperor Calus and Caiatl's connection wasn't used at all. The Witness has virtually no presence in the story, and the mysterious Veil is never once explained during the eight-mission campaign.
Calling the campaign a disaster is generous. This was, fundamentally, the wrong type of story to tell. Curse of Osiris might have had a poor narrative as well, but at least it wasn't the penultimate expansion to a ten-year saga.
There is a silver lining. While Lightfall fumbled the story, it made great additions to the core sandbox and new player experience. Strand is an excellent addition that intertwines fast movement with Destiny's superb gunplay. Guardian Ranks and Mods 3.0 helped streamline the learning curve for New Lights. The difficulty changes in Lightfall were a mixed bag, but they ultimately brought challenge back to Destiny 2's harder activities, something Witch Queen desperately needed.
7 ᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚ Destiny 2: Warmind
Warmind saw the introduction of Exotic weapon catalysts, balance changes to make the gameplay faster, and it included powerful new weapons that brought back to Destiny's older power fantasy goals.
Destiny 2 still used the double Primary system a✤t this stage, but Warmind is when the game started to change course to become a much faster and engaging FPS title. The expansion itself added another one-note campaign and little PvP changes, but the sandbox changes made in this DLC were huge strides in the right direction. Escalation Protocol and the Spire of Stars raid were also fun enough to keep players engaged until Forsaken was released.
6 Destiny: House of Wolves 𒆙
Fans of Destiny were skeptical of Bungie's next DLC with how lackluster The Dark Below was. Fortunately, House of Wolves was a solid addition to the game, if a bit small.
While this expansion didn't come with a new raid, it featured a wave-based activity named the Prison of Elders. Unique loot was added for players to chase in this intense gamemode, although this DLC suffered from a lack of long-term incentives since there was no raid. Trials of Osiris was also introduced during this period, giving PvP a competitive twist that caused Destiny to explode on Twitch and other streaming platforms.
And with the addition of Etheric Light, players had a temporary solution for leveling gear they liked—something The Taken King would go on to truly fix. While the content added in this DLC was paltry by today's standards, House of Wolves unquestionably shaped the Destiny franchise for the better.
5 Destiny 2: Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack 🐟
The Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack is a celebration of everything Bungie has released, including IPs that aren't Destiny. This DLC gave players access to the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Grasp of Avarice dungeon, two incredible Exotics, and tons of cosmetic items that reference Marathon, Halo, and other Bungie titles.

This DLC also came with ꧑the Dares of Eternity activity, free for all players. Guardians could fight in a strange game sh🔴ow hosted by Xur to obtain classic Halo, Marathon, and Myth weapons. Overall, this DLC acts as a mini-season that acts as a great nostalgia trip for veteran Destiny players and Bungie fans in general.
