Learn how to increase your Valor Rank, Competitive Division, and focus Crucibl🅠e Engrams♛ with this in-depth guide.
Needless to say, Trials is a much different beast than its previous versions—one that is far more respectful of your time and skill level. It's still the pinnacle PvP activity💝 that most Destiny veterans remember, now with better loot incentives and a more forgiving reward structure. We'll be going over what Trials of Osiris is, how it works, and why virtually every Destiny player will want to dive into this playlist.
Updated February 14, 2025, by Charles Burgar: Trials of Osiris received a moderate rework in Episode: Heresy, removing the flawless requirement from visiting the Lighthouse. We've updated this guide to include up-to-date information on how going flawless works, how to reach the Lighthouse, and the rewards you can expect. We've also updated our Passage section to explain how the new Passage system works, including matchmaking pools and the new win streak system.
Episode: Heresy Trials Of Osiris Changes
-
You no longer need to go flawless to visit the Lighthouse. Seven wins are now required, consecutive or otherwise.
- Lighthouse entry now requires a Lighthouse Passage from Saint-14 in the Tower.
-
Consecutive wins are now tracked. Win streaks influence Lighthouse rewards and grant loot caches at certain intervals.
- Adept weapons have a 30 ⇾ 60 ⇾ 100% drop chance based on your win streak (up to three consecutive wins).
- Trios are guaranteed an Adept weapon upon winning seven games, regardless of win streak. This stacks with the win streak Adept drop.
-
There are now two Passages: Trials of Osiris and Lighthouse.
- Trials Passage is intended for new PvP Guardians. Awards bonus reputation but voids entry into the Lighthouse. Uses SBMM.
- Lighthouse Passage grants access to the Lighthouse after seven wins, with rewards determined by your highest win streak. Uses Open Matchmaking.
- If you reach the Lighthouse with seven consecutive wins, you gain a Flawless Passage. Enables SBMM, but has a chance of dropping Adept guns on subsequent wins
What Is Trials Of Osiris?
Trials of Osiris is a high-stakes variant of C෴rucible's 3v3 Elimination game type that serves as Destiny 2's pinnacle PvP activity. Only available during weekends, Trials gives every player the chance to show off their PvP skills to obtain some of Destiny's most sought-after weapons and armor.
Players competing in the Trials of Osiris will have all their games tracked through a Passage—a ticket purchased from Saint-14. Your Passage acts as a win tracker throughout thℱe tournament and determines your matchmaking pool.
If you manage to win seven games with a Lighthouse Passage, you'll be able to visit the Lighthouse. This special hub area shower🥀s you with upgrade materials, Trials of Osiris weapons, armor, and exc♓lusive cosmetic rewards. Grab yourself a Passage, play some matches, and get your hands on some of Destiny 2's finest PvP rewards.
When Does Trials Of Osiris Start And End?
Trials of Osiris starts every Friday at 10:00 AM Pacific (UTC -7 or 1700 UTC) and ends on the Tuesday weekly reset. You'll find it in the Crucible tab on your Director. Each member of your fireteam will need a Passa🐻ge to enter the playlist.
Trials of Osiris will not run during the following:
- The first week of a new season, provided there's a Power level increase.
- The week a new raid releases.
- Any week Iron Banner is active.
Why Should I Play Trials Of Osiris?
Trials of Osiris has a unique set of weapons, armor sets, shaders, and other cosmetics to earn. 🉐Some of the best PvP weapons are tied to Trials, such as Exalted Truth, Shayura's Wrath, and The Messenger. Nearly every weapon from this playlist is at least good; most are excellent.
PvE players shouldn't sleep on this playlist, either. Some strong PvE DPS weapons are available through Trials of Osiris, including Cataphract GL3 and Keen Thistle. These weapons compete with raid-quality gear but don't require you to play endgame PvE content. If you can hold your own inside the Crucible, you can jump into Trials solo and earn some S-tier PvE gear t♛o help transition in🐠to endgame PvE content.

Destiny 2: The Best Rolls For The Ne꧋w Sundered Doctrine Weapons
Here are the best rolls y๊ou can find on the Sundered Doctrine dungeon weapons in Destiny 2.
Unlocking Trials Of Osiris
Trials o𒈔f Osiris requires three things before you can participate:
- Ownership of the latest Destiny 2 expansion (currently The Final Shape).
- Completion of the "Trials Access" quest.
- A Passage from Saint-14.
𝕴Expansion ownership does not transfer between platforms. Consider your platform of choice carefully before buying any DLC to play Trials.
Trials Access Quest
You can grab this ♓quest from Saint-14 in the Tower once you've completed the New Light onboarding experience. You'll find him beside his ship in the Hangar, located in the eastern wing of the Tower.
This quest consists of two major steps:
- Complete your Competitive placement series, get 50 kills in Competitive, and increase your Power level to the season's soft cap.
- Play a match of Trials of Osiris.
Step one will require that you complete weekly milestones on your Director to obtain Powerful and Pinnacle Gear. We cover this in more detail in our 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Power leveling guide. For the other two objectives, you'll need to participate in the Competitive PvP playlist. This is a 3v3 playlist featuring more objective-oriented modes and aggressive s𒊎kill-based matchmaking (SBMM for short), resulting in much tougher matches.
Step two is about trying out the Trials of Osiris. Speak with Saint-14 in the T🍰ower to pick up a Trials Passage, then jump into the playlist. You must win a single round and land one kill to complete this step.
Completing both steps will fully unlock the Trialꦕs of Osiris. You'll also earn the Astral Horizon Shotgun with a random roll.
Trials Of Osiris Passages
Passages are unique tickets sold by Saint-14 that track your game history in Trials of Osiris. Three Passages are available, two of which can be purchased directly from Saint-14. Tܫhe third Passage must be earned through gaꦺmeplay.
Passage |
Description |
Matchmaking Pool |
---|---|---|
Trials Of Osiris Passage |
Low-stakes matches. Does not grant Lighthouse entry. Games awardꦜ reputation with a chance of bonus Trials rewards. Wins grant bonus reputation. |
Skill-Based Matchmaking |
Lighthouse Passage |
High-stakes matche⛄s. Gain access to the Lighthouse at 7 wins, consecutiv♕e or not. Lighthouse re෴wards and subsequent wins are determined by your longest win streak on this Passage. |
Open Matchmaking (Not Completed) Skill-Based Matchmaking (Completed) |
Flawless Passage |
High-stakes matches. Wins have a chance of droppi🎉ng Adept weapons. Awarded upon reaching the Lighthouse with a 7-win streak. Cannot be reset once earned. |
Skill-Based Matchmaking |
While the in-game descriptions imply that these Passages are vastly different, there are only two major differences between them: the matchmaking pool and Lighthouse eligibility. Matchmaking pools dictate which players you'll fight against, determined by skill (SBMM) or connection quality (Open Matchmaking). The Lighthouse is a special hub ౠyou can visit that showers you with Trials o🔯f Osiris loot, including Adept weapons, high-stat armor, upgrade materials, and exclusive cosmetics.
Resetting Passages
At any time during a Trials tournament, you may inspect your Passage in you🉐r "Quests" tab and reset your card, wiping your current win count and highest win streak. This is useful for changing your matchmaking pool upon visiting the Lighthouse or playing ꧋with others.
The Trials of Osiris Passage pits you against players of a similar skill bracket, more commonly known as Skill-Based Matchmaking (SBMM). If you're new to PvP and want a more forgiving environment to practice, this is the ideal Passage since you'll be fighting similarly skilled players. You cannot visit the Lighthouse while on this Passage.
However, if you're quite good at PvP and want to test your mettle, you'll want to grab the Lighthouse Passage. You will be entered into a matchmaking pool that biases connection quality over skill rank, which means your games will vary wildl🌳y in difficulty. But if you can win seven games on this Pa🦂ssage—none of which have to be consecutive—you'll gain access to the Lighthouse to receive a large bundle of Trials-themed loot.
You will enter t✅he Skill-Based Matchmaking pool upon visiting the Lighthouse. If you want to enter the Oꦰpen Matchmaking pool again, you'll need to reset your Passage.
Flawless Passage
Particularly skilled Guardians might reach the Lighthouse on seven consecutive wins, oth🎃erwise known as going flawless. When this happens, your Lighthouse Passage will transform into a Flawless Passage that allows you to earn Adept weapons at the end 🌞of victorious matches.
Once you get a Flawless Passage, you are entered into a Skill-Based Matchmaking pool. And since you won seven games in a row, you'll be fighting fellow Guardians who also just went flawless. Prepare for some tough matches while on this card. You can't reset a Flawless Passage, either. Once 🅺you have one, you're stuck with it until you lose.
Which Passage Should I Pick?
Unless you're completely new to Destiny 2 PvP, we suggest grabbing the Lighthouse Passage. The open matchmaking pool can work in your favor by giving you high-skill teammates, and the guarantee of a Lighthouse visit at seven wins should make up for the massive🥃 variance of match difficulty.
If you ꦦare fairly new to PvP or need a few warm-up games, give the Trial🍸s of Osiris Passage a try. SBMM ensures that you'll be fighting similarly skilled Guardians, new or experienced. New Lights have a safe place to get familiar with PvP combat, while veteran players can spare with like-minded players before they dive into the Lighthouse pool.
Playing Trials Of Osiris
Trials of Osiris is a variant of the Elimination game type called Dominion, featuring a unique reputation system and loot pool. Dominion is a 3v3 game type where Guardians must fight over a cent🅰ral objective over multiple rounds. Each player has one life, although you can be revived if an ally interacts with your Ghost. Successfully eliminating the enemy team or capturing the objective will win the rou꧋nd. The first team to win five rounds will win the game.
Every Trials match you win will be tallied on your current Passage, up to seven wins. The more wins you have, the more Trials reputation you'll earn at the end of each game. If you purchased a Lighthouse Passage, your highest win streak will also be tracked, which determines the type of rew๊ards you'll earn upon visiting the Lighthouse—upgrade materials, armor, et cetera.
Fireteam Matchmaking
Trials of Osiris' matchmaking accommodates f𝔉ireteam size. You can queue into this activity solo and face fe൲llow solo/duo players. Duos will face solo/duo teams, and trios will exclusively fight trios when possible.
You don't need a fireteam to play Trials of Osiris, but doing so is encouraged to earn additional rewards (e🌳xplained in the rew๊ards section).
Notable Differences From Crucible
Here are the most notable changes between Trials of🌸 Osiris and common Crucible play𒁏lists:
- Every Trials of Osiris match takes place on the same map. The chosen map changes each weekend.
-
The Notswap modifier is active, resetting ability and Super energy if you swap Exotic armor mid-game.
- Swapping ammo types in your Kinetic/Energy slot will also reset your ability energy.
- Victory requires 5 round wins.
- Each round lasts 90 seconds.
- The Dominion flag may be captured 40 seconds into the round.
- Special and Heavy ammo does not carry over between rounds.
- Revived players lose all Special ammo.
- Revive timers are extended each time someone is revived.
- Emotes are locked to first-person.
- Swords cannot be equipped unless you have ammo.
- Saint-14 is the announcer instead of Shaxx.
- Matches grant Trials Reputation in addition to Valor.

Trials Of Osiris And Saint-14 Rewards
We've talked about loot qu꧑ite a bit thus far, but we haven't gone into the exact items you can expect from Trials of Osiris. This mode has four reward🌳 sources:
- Passages
- Pinnacle Weeklies
- Saint-14
-
The Lighthouse
- Requires a Lighthouse Passage
You'll get most of your loot from Passages and Saint-14, although Trials matches can grant rewards when you reach certain win thresholds on your Passage. Your main reward from this mode is Trials Engrams. As with other vendors, you'll be able to focus these to guarantee certain weapons and armor. Saint will also grant specific weapons and upgrade materials as you increase your Trials Rank—168澳洲幸运5开奖网:a similar system to Crucible Valor.
Trials Engrams
Trials Engrams work exactly the same as Echo Engrams. Playing Trials of Osiris will grant reputation with Saint-14 that'll eventually grant a Trials Engram. You can either decrypt the Engram as-is to obtain a random piece of Trials Gear or use Engram Focusing to target-farm loot. Decrypting Engrams as-is can drop any non-legacy weapon or armor piece with a slight bias towards gear you do⛄n't own.
Focusing a Trials Engram will limit its loot pool to a single weapon or armor piece, chosen directly by you in Saint-14's vendor menu. Focusing an Engram requires a Trials Engram and 20,000 Glimmer. The roll you get is random.
Added in Season of Defiance is Legacy Focusing, the ability to earn older Trials weapons and armor sets. These items include all Trials armor—the Exile and Pyrrhic Ascent sets—and most fan-favorite weapons from the past. Legacy Focusing costs five Trials Engrams and 25,000 Glimmer.
Win Streak Rewards
With the Lighthouse Passage equipped, winning multiple games in a row will begin a Win Streak. Your highest win streak ✃will dictate which rewards you earn from the Lighthouse chest at the end of your seven-win card. Rewards scale from your second con🐟secutive win to your seventh. Once you visit the Lighthouse, your win streak will influence your potential end-of-match rewards, as shown above.
Additionally, you can earn reward bundles on any Passage by increasing your win streak. The first time you achieve a win streak high score that week, you'll earn a reward cache. There's a reward cache per win, up to seven wins. You may only receive these rewa🎀rd bundles once per Trꦗials tournament.

You'll notice that the last three win streaks award Trials Glows. Upon reaching four consecutive wins, your Trials armor will start to glow. This glow lasts t🦋wo weeks and will evolve b✃ased on your highest win streak—emblems no longer change your armor glow.
Each emblem grants the following glow:

- Five Wins: Gold Glow
- Six Wins: Blue Glow
- Seven Wins: Red Glow
Three-Stack Farming
Playing with a premade fireteam is highly encouraged in Trials of Osiris, and we don't just mean in terms of gameplay. Premade, three-person fireteams who queue into Trials of Osiris receive additional rewards, including addit🌟ional Trials Engrams, extra drops of the current Lighthouse weapon (non-Adept)ౠ, and significantly more Trials reputation.
Trios also have a higher chance of getting an Adept weapon from the Lighthouse than solo and duo fireteams. If you get seven wins as a trio, regardless of your win streak, you'll get an Adept weapon from the Lighthouse. This is i🎐n addition to the chance of getting an Adept weapon based on your highest win streak (guaranteed drop at three consecutive wins).
Adept Weapons
There is a chance that you can earn Adept variants of Trials of Osiris weapons from the Lighthouse chest. Adept weapons grant +3 to all stats when Masterworked (excluding their primary MW stat) and accept Adept mods. They🔯 also have a unique shader applied to th🍎em that can't be found elsewhere.
Your highest win streak d🌠etermines the drop rate of Trials Ade꧟pts.
- One Win: 30%
- Two Wins: 60%
- Three Wins: 100%
Anything pas𒆙t three wins does not contribute any extra progre🎶ss.
Pinnacle Weeklies
Trials of Osiris has two weeklies that will gr⛦ant Pinnacle gear:
- Win seven games.
- Win 50 rounds.
Each weekly grants a piece of Trialsﷺ-themed Pinnacle gear. 3/5/7 win weeklies have been removed as of Season 15.
Saint-14 Rewards
Since Trials has a reputation system tied to it, you can now expect a reward track for sticking to the playlist. Saint-14 serves as the Trials of Osiris vendor, and he gives out similar rewards to other ritual vendors as yo♎u increase your Trials rank. You can expect Masterwork materials and Trials-t🌌hemed weapons as you increase your Trials Rank.
Sai❀nt's reward track weapons are randomly rolled every week.
