You've probably heard that Death Stranding 2: On The Bea💞ch is a good-looking game. The original’s post-apocalyptic graphics and environments were impressive on the PS4 back in 2019, so it only makes sense that the sequel would blow the doors off when utilising vastly improved hardware. However, the further I get into the sequel’s campaign, the more I realise: this is the next ge♛neration game we've been waiting for.
You'll always see something impressive right out of the gate when it comes to new consoles. For the PS5, it was 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Demon’s Souls, and for the PS4, it was 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Killzone: Shadow Fall. However, it's only late🔯r down the line, over halfway𒁃 through a console's lifecycle, that we'll begin to see games really begin to push boundaries.
I might not know exactly what’s going on in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Death Stranding 2, but I do know that it looks spectacular.
Death Stranding 2 Offers So Many Incredible Feats
As the gamওe opens up to the beautiful sounds of Minus Sixty One by Woodkid, we’re met with a beautifully intricate scene of rocky hills and rolling mountains in Mexico. No matter how many times I see it, I still don’t quite believ𝓀e I’m watching actual gameplay unfold. That is, until I’m given control of the camera and I can freely explore this same scenery with absolute seamlessness. Not only that, but in true Todd How💜ard fashion, I know that if I can see something, I can travel to it.
Further into the game, there are vast landscapes that continue to impress in the same way, while other moments, such as Chapter 5’s Day of the Dead section, offer unparalleled spectacle with the sheer number of fireworks flying around the player as a myriad of pinwheels throw sparks that drop to the grou🍸nd, some even bouncing off Sam himself. It’s a moment where Kojima Productions is clearly showing off, and it absolutely deserves to.
Putting the graphics aside for a second, next-gen hardware (current gen nowadays, even if it doesn’t feel like it) is about far more than just visuals. One of the other aspects of Death Stranding 2 that con꧅vinces me it’s an undeniable technical achievement is the loading times. Even now, with over 30 hours into the game and countless different things to account for, I’m unendingly entertained by the single second it takes to load into the game from the main menu.
The Decima Engine Is Continuously Impressive
Before Death Stranding 2, if you asked me what I thought the most graphically impressive game of this generation was, I would have said 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Horizon Forbidden West. It’s held that spot since its launch back in 2022, and I remember being impressed with💎 just how good a game cou▨ld look while playing through this stunning open-world adventure. Now, that honour goes to Death Stranding 2, which only ༺makes more sense when you consider both are running on the 🦩Decima Engine.
Created originally for the Killzone franchise, Guerrilla’s Decima Engine was shared in co꧅llaboration with Kojima Productions for the development of Death Stranding, alongside its core use for the Horizon series. To see t🎃his engine pushed so much further, with both new graphical and technical milestones being reached, makes it feel like the medium is finally starting to reach new heights.
Here's hoping that other developers and studios can take note, and perhaps the Decima Engine will even grow beyond these two studios, laying the groundwork for the rest of the♐ gaming generation and beyond. Well, at least as far as the ownership🃏 by Sony goes, and how much PlayStation is willing to share.
Whatever the result, it’s clear that Death Stranding 2 is setting itself up to be one of the most impressive games we’ve seen for a🍸 long time, and I’m infinitely more excited to see the next installment of the Horizon series for that very reason.
