The reason why fans are wondering how Wolverine is alive is due to his demise after the movie Logan. In that film, the final sequence has our clawed protagonist sacrifice himself for a group of children, his regenerative powers not being able to heal him as they used to.
At first, it was stated (by none other than Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman) that Deadpool & Wolverine would take place before Logan. Yet that didn’t end up being the case, since the path the third installment of Deadpool took to have Wolverine in the movie was a different one.
