Dea𝔉d Rising is finally back and the Deluxe Remaster is shaping up to be the best way to play the series, even if it 🐻does make things a little easier.
Serving as the game's boss encounters, Psychopaths are unique human ene🐽mies who have lost their way amid the chaos and panic. This causes them to snap and fight anyone and anything that stanꦺds in their way, leading to intense battles and often somber conclusions.
How To Find Cliff Hudson
On the second day of the outbreak, Frank receives a call from Otis at 8am during the Medicine Run Main Quest about a "Big dude carryin' a machete" in Crislip's Home Saloon, a hardware store in the North Plaza.
Upon receiving this message, a Scoop opportunity titled 'The Hatchet Man' will become available, allowing you to head to Crislip's Home Saloon and take down Cliff Hudson. Entering the hardware store will trigger a cutscene, leading directly into the battle after it plays out.
Cliff has captured three Survivors, so you may have to free up some🌠 room before Otis calls you. There can only be eight Survivors in the mall at a time, so if Otis doesn't call you at 8am on the second day, rescue Survivors until he does. You can also kill them... but we recommend against doing so as it is a waste of PP!
How To Defeat Cliff Hudson
While this fight is quite different from the others, there are a few things we strongly recommend grabbing before heading into Crislip's Home Saloon. First, have lots of Orange Juice on you for healing. You can grab this at Colombian Roastmasters in Paradise Plaza.
Next, we recommend bringing either a Handgun, which drops from the Cop Zombies found around the mall, or the Submachine Gun, located on the awning above Shoekin's in Paradise Plaza. Don't worry about grabbing a melee weapon for this encounter, as there is a unique item in the arena itself that will give you an upper hand in that regard!
Cliff's Moves
When the encounter begins, Cliff will be running around the hardware store, brandishing his Machete. He will try to get behind you and stab you in the back, dealing considerable amounts of damage, so constantly have your head on a swivel and evade the moment he gets close to you.
After creating some distance, head near the front of the store to find a row of Chainsaws, pick one up, and turn it on by pressing R2/RT. With the Chainsaw in hand, you can begin running toward Cliff and slashing him when you get close to deal substantial damage to him.
Lowering his health roughly halfway will have Cliff leap on top of the shelves in the store and begin lighting and tossing Pipe Bombs at Frank. You can run to the opposite side of the store to avoid them altogether, or you can attempt to shoot him with your Submachine Gun to deal considerable damage to him.
We recommend just running away from him here, as there is no real reason to put yourself at risk. However, if you can get an angle on him where he cannot hit you with the Pipe Bombs, you can🃏 safely unload on him with your SMG t✨o deal considerable damage.
From here, he will jump down again and will begin running around the hardware store, utilize the Chainsaw again to carve off large chunks of his health. When he's almost dead, he will disappear and reappear, trying to sneak attack you. When you see him behind you, quickly slash him with the Chainsaw to deliver the finishing blow!
Rewards For Defeating Cliff Hudson
Delivering the finishing blow on Cliff Hudson will have him say his final words, making you feel sort of bad for the guy in a way. After the cutscene plays out, you will be able to pick up his Machete, which will now be a permanent spawn within the Crislip's Home Saloon.
You will also receive the Empty Store Key. Use this Key to open the abandoned store directly next to Crislip's, allowing you to free the three Survivors he took hostage. From here, guide Barbara, Josh, and Rich back to the Security Room to receive even more PP!
ꦯDefeating Cliff Hudson will co❀unt toward your progress for the Punisher Achievement/Trophy, where you must defeat ten Psychopaths during the 72-Hour Mode of the game.
