Whereas the original Dark Souls board game was rooted in all things Dark Souls, Steamforged has really leaned into the video game feel of the trilogy for The Sunless City in an attempt to make the tabletop experience feel as close to the one you've experienced on screen as possible.

The Sunless City is designed for up to three players, and the aim of the game is to work together to fell m🎐onsters and work your way through Lordran. Plus, just like the video games, if you don't happen to have a companion or two available, you can play the game alone. In keeping with its video game inspiration, The Sunless City is also backwards compatible. If you do own the original Dark Souls board game, then the bosses from it can be brought forward and used in this new edition.

Dark Souls: The Board Game has been a thing for years, and n𒈔ow it has a sequel. The Sunless City is a standalone spino♑ff that also had backwards compatible elements you can pull from the original if you have it. Designed for up to three players, or you can tackle Lordran alone.
As well as bringing elements from the old game, if you have them, The Sunless City includes 15 miniatures, three bosses, and three character boards. Also, everything else you'll need to play the game just in case you were worrying you need the previous game in order to play this one. The S🧜unless City isn't an expansion, more of a sequel or a spinoff. Not only can it be played without the original Dark Souls tabletop game, but you d🍰on't even need to have played the previous installment to dive straight into this one.
The only downside to the reveal of The Sunless City is you won't be able to get it in time to play it with your loved ones over the holidays. Although you can pre-order the board game through the link above right now for $109.99, it won't be released until February 14, 2024. The original Dark Souls board game is available now if you don't already have it though, as well as a card game and an RPG that have been spun f🍒rom the iconic trilogy.
