Upgrading your favorite weapon in Dark Souls 3 requires plenty of various sizes of titanite. There are titanite shards, large titanite shards, titanite chunks, and the rarest but most important of all titanite pieces, the titanite slab. These slabs are incredibly valuable because they’re necessary to bring your weapon up to its maximum level. However, they’re not easy to find.
In total, there are 15 titanite slabs that you can find in the entire game. 8 are available in the regular game, 3 can be found in The Ashes Of Ariandel DLC, and 4 can be picked up in The Ringed City DLC. To help you wield the strong🔯est possible sword, axe, club, bow, or any other instrument of death and destruction you favor, here’s how to acquire every single titanite slab in Dark Souls 3.
Firelink Shrine
Two titanite slabs can be found in one of the earliest areas in the game, Firelink Shrine. But there’s a good chance you won’t be able to get them until much later.
The first one is simple (well, as simple as it gets in Dark Souls 3.) Defeat every single Lord Of Cinder and place their ashes upon their thrones in the shrine. That means you need to kill The Abyss Watchers, Aldrich, Yhorm The Giant, and Lothric.
Once their ashes are upon the thrones, head over to The Shrine Maidenꩵ, and she should have a titanite slab available to purchase for 30,000 souls (unless you decided to kill her 🔜at some point, in which case the price will be substantially higher.)
For the second slab, you have to obtain an item called the Coiled Sword Fragment. To find that, you need to defeat Oceiros, The Consumed King. He’s an optional boss fight found in an area below Lothric Castle called the Consumed King’s Garden.
That will then lead to another optional area called the Untended Graves, which will lead to another optional boss fight. After all that, you’ll finally reach an alternate, more depressing version of Firelink Shrine where the Coiled Sword Fragment will be found.
Now all you have to do is take that item to Pickle Pee The Crow’s nest atop Firelink Shrine and drop it in. Doing so will grant you a titanite slab,🅺 although it♊ will rob you of an item that acts as an unlimited homeward bone.
Profaned Capital
To get this titanite slab, you need to go through the entirety of Siegward Of Catarina’s questline. It’s a rather confusing series of events, but thankfully, we have another guide that details how to go through it.
Eventually, you’ll find Siegward locked in a cell within Irithyll Dungeon. You’ll need to find the Old Cell Key, head through a swampy area of the Profaned Capital teeming with Sewer Centipedes, leap from the roof of a building through an open window, and free Siegward to both complete his questline and earn yourself a titanite slab as a reward.
Grand Archives
There are three possible slabs to find in the Grand Archives area of the game. It’s not hard to find out where they are, b♍ut obtaining 🌱them can be tricky.
The easiest one to grab involves pulling this lever on the second floor of the Grand Archives:
This could be an annoying slab to grab since this lever is between two bookcases with ghostly arms that can curse you. There’s also plenty of enemies surrounding the area along with a Crystal Sage who will scamper to a nearby location after y🌼ou first encounter hi🧸m to shoot soul arrows at you.
After you’ve pulled the lever, you should see a bookcase lower into the ground below you. Head back downstairs to the area where you first saw one of those pools where you can dip your head in wax.
Go forward from there and you should see an opening where that bookcase used to be. Walk through that new area and there will be a chest containing your titanite slab.
The next slab can be quite a hassle to get as it requires you to defeat three tough enemies. From the elevator that unlocks after defeating a trio of NPC characters, go forward through the doorway, up some steps, and turn left. You should soon be on the rooftops before a tall building.
Once you get close enough, three gold Winged Knights will descend from the top. They’re big, they hit hard, and they each have different weapons and moves to watch out for. Defeat all three and they’ll drop the slab as a one-time reward for actually managing to kill them.
The final slab in this area is incredibly easy to miss. There’s an elevator you can unlock right before the boss fight with Lothric and Lorian. Take it down and you should wind up at an area near the Dragonslayer Armor boss fight location and the Warriors Of Sunlight covenant. Now walk over the button on the floor of the elevator to send it back up, but get off before you ride up with it.
Much like the elevator back in the Undead Settlement where you first met Siegward, there’s another secret elevator underneath this one that goes down. Get on, ride it down, and you should find a corpse containing a sneaky secret titanite slab.
Archdragon Peak
Getting to Archdragon Peak is a whole lot of work on its own. You need to find a special gesture, use it in a specific area within Irithyll Dungeon, and make your way through one of the hardest areas in the whole game full of dragons and angry serpent men. Then, to get both of the titanite slabs that are located here, you need to survive two tough but fun fights. It’s quite an ordeal.
The first slab can be found in an area above the Great Belfry bonfire. Go through the doorway and head to your right. You’ll fight two serpent men and then you'll need to go up some stairs through this doorway:
Kill the rock lizard that’s waiting for you in there and then take the ladder up. You’ll be me🥂t with some familiar sights when you reach the top.
There will be a massive dead dragon and Havel, a dragon-slaying knight who’s a mainstay of the Dark Souls series. From there, you can either fight Havel – which isn’t easy since he hits like a truck – or grab the titanite slab located next to the dead dragon and run.
To get the other slab in this area, you have to defeat The Nameless King, which is quite possibly the best boss fight in the entire game. It’s definitely worth doing even though it’s pretty dang hard. Once you’ve bested him, the slab should be on a corpse near the bonfire that appears.
The Ashes Of Ariandel
There are three titanite slabs y🌳ou can find in the first of Dark Souls 3’s two DLCs.
The first one is gained after you’ve completed the second phase of the boss fight against Sister Friede. The game fools you into thinking the fight is over by giving you this reward early and then it springs a third phase on you. So be prepared for that.
There’s an NPC within the Corvian Settlement that looks like any of the other emaciated bird people in this region. However, this one seems to have his wits about him. You’ll find him sitting in a chair in the house in the picture above. He’ll talk to you about how he wants the painted world 𒈔of Ariandel to burn.
Once you’ve killed Sister Friede, go back to him, and now he’ll be standing outside on a ledge. As thanks for initiating the burning of the painting, he’ll give you a titanite slab.
The final slab is found near The Depths Of The Painting bonfire and requires doing something pretty obscure. To reach this bonfire, you need to cut the rope bridge near Sister Friede’s church and climb down to find some overgrown tree roots. Make your way down until you reach the bonfire.
Now head to the left, and you’ll have to deal with some giant crabs that will pop up from under the ice. Get past them, and you'll see a ledge and a path below to the left of the ledge. Kill the tree women in your way until you reach a tree woman at the end of this path. You need to kill this particular tree woman for some reason. If you get the Snap Freeze spell afterward, then you killed the right one.
Her death will randomly cause a giant ladder to descend upon that ledge from before. Climb all the way up to find another ladder. Climb up that and you’ll find a titanite slab next to a bit of rot.
The Ringed City
The last four slabs are all contained within Dark Souls 3’s final DLC, The Ringed City. To get the first one, you need to begin the questline for an NPC named Lapp. Making your way through the initial area of this DLC should bring you to a church where two Lothric Knights are praying. Kill them, head outside, and a giant tower should crash through that church right where the knights were.
Go back inside the church and use the fallen tower as a bridge to reach Lapp and start the questline. Once you’ve gotten to the next bonfire ahead, you should eventually see Lapp sitting nearby. He’ll tell you about a treasure hiding in a cave within Earthen Peak. You can find that cave right here.
You need to avoid getting blasted to death by the laser beams of the Angels above and survive the poisoning that you’ll no doubt incur from the swamp - be sure to bring plenty of purple moss clumps. When you reach the cave, you’ll have to deal with a Harald Knight and a bunch of Poisonhorn Bugs. Then, around a corner to the left will be another Harald Knight that you’ll have to defeat or avoid to grab the slab off of a corpse.
Alternatively, if you die three times in this area, Lapp will simply go get the treasure and give it to you. That’s much easier, althougꦺh it’s kind of a humiliating way to get something in a Dark😼 Souls game.
Once you’ve traveled through The Ringed City, you’ll come across a giant church near the appropriately named Spears Of The Church covenant statue. Inside is a boss fight with Judicator Argo and Halflight. Kill Halflight and you’ll net yourself a slab.
When you reach the final area of the DLC, before, after, or even during the final boss fight with Slave Knight Gael, you’ll find a Ringed Knight just aimlessly walking around over a hill to the left of the Filianore's Rest bonfire. Kill them and you’ll get a slab.
The last slab has two possible ways for you to get it. Within The Ringed City, you may have reached the closed door of a building where an NPC named Shira resides. If you manage to defeat an incredibly tough optional boss named Darkeater Midir, she’ll give you a slab as a reward if you go back to her afterward.
Alternatively, after the Slave Knight Gael fight, you can find this destroyed chapel off to the right of this zone. Enter the chapel, and when you try to leave, Shira will invade your world and attack you. Defeat her, and she’ll drop a bunch of stuff, including the fifteenth and final titanite slab.
