It’s kind of hard to believe, but the current generation of games started in 2013 when the PS4 and Xbox One were released. Some like to say it started in 2012 when the Wii U came ouไt, but… come on, no it didn’t! I don’t know why, but it feels like those systems came out like two or so years ago, not five! We have gotten the mid-gen systems since then, though, with the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. We also got the Nintendo Switch last year to add to the current generation!

Since it’s been five years since those systems launched, that means that there’s been a ton of games come out since then. I would argue that some of the best games ever made have been released since then. I love Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, just to name some. I know that some people think those games are a tad overrated, and t✃hat gets us to this list!

This list is going to have some games that have be💙en released over the past five years that I feel are overrated, and some that you may want to check out/go back to. I tend to like mos🍸t of the games that I play, but I do have some heavy hitters that I feel are praised to a level that people need to chill with. You’ll see that with the first entry. Alright, let’s talk games!

30 ꩵ Overrated: Bloodborne

via: ign.com

Look, I get that some people consider this game to be their favorite game of all time, and I respect that. I actually really like this game, but it by no means redefined the genre like some say it did. It didn’t make it any easier for new players, and the story is told in such an odd way. It has fast and tight combat that they used to help build the combat in Dark Souls III. I get that people love this g✃ame, but I just think it’s a tad overrated, which warranted it 30 ꧂on this list.

29 Wo🔯rth A ꦆSecond Look: Sunset Overdrive

via: wccftech.com

I had my first job out of college when this game came out, and I was so excited about it that I took the day off. It was𒆙 so ♛worth it! This game reviewed decently well, and people seemed to like it but it never got that big praise that I feel it deserved.

The style in this game was top-notch.

The graphﷺical style was awesome, the monsters were cool, and the movemꦡent was like nothing I’d never played before. It’s on Xbox One Game Pass, so check it out.

28 🌟 Overrated: Destiny ꩵ

via: shacknews.com

This game got a ton of flack after it came out, and it honestly deserved it. I fell in love with it, but I will by no means defend anything outside of the art and gameplay. The story is trash and you could tell they have development problems. It got great when The Taken King expansion came out.

Not releasing on the PC was a mistake, and the initial light system was way too much. The DLC content from The Taken King onward was great, but that was over a year in.

27 Wort෴h A Second 🍎Look: Alien: Isolation

via: gamespot.com

I had very high hopes for this game, and man did it ever deliver on them! The people that played it liked it, but it is a very slow-paced horror game and that can turn people off. It captures the feel of the Alien movies in a way that so many games before it tried to. Seeing the Xenomorph for the first time is a gaming moment I’ll never forget! It is a bit too long and can be very tough at times, but if you like horror and/or the Alien movies it’s worth your time to check out.

26 Overrated: Xenoblade𒉰 Chronicles 2 ♊

via: stevivor.com

I honestly respect the Xenoblade games more than I enjoy playing them. I tried to the play the first one on the Wii and tapped out about 10 hours in, and I did the same thing with this o🐎ne. I just can’t deal with the combat syst👍em.

I don’t care for MMO combat, and that’s what this combat style is. The world is impressive and the story seemed pretty solid, but it takes about 100 hours to beat. I know this game is on a short list of must-own Switch games,🔜 but not for me.

25 Worth A Second Look: The 𒈔Order: 1886

via: segmentnext.com

This game had so much hype around it that it’s no wonder that it was a let down when it came out.𝄹 I get that this is more of a movie than an actual game, but what’s there is pretty solid! It’s still one of the best-looking games on the PS4. The story goes places and ends up being its strongest point. It’s always on sale for dirt cheap when PlayStation has big sales, and it’s dജefinitely worth checking out. Plus, it’s an extremely easy platinum trophy!

24 O꧅verrated: DOOM ไ

via: microsoft.com

The first time I played this game, I really didn’t get what all the hype was about. It came off as just a fast shooter with a really dumb story, and that’s ultimately what it is. I did go back to it though, and liked it much better the second time. But I still don’t get all the hype this game got. I’d much rather play Borderlands 2 again or pump more hours into Destiny 2 than go though this g🍒ame again. It’s a very solid game with cool music and awesome art, but that’s about it for me.

23 Worth A Second Lo൲ok: Star Wars Battlefront II

via: polygon.com

I’m not sure a single game has had as much controvers🦩y around as this game since this generation started. I’ll say that it did deserve it, but I 𓆉think there is an amazing game under all that.

All the DLC for this game is free. Since all the microtransactions happened and the bad leveling system has been changed, the content this game has been pumping out has pretty good. They’ve added more chara🅠cters, new maps/modes, and everything is still free. It’s on sale all the time and it’s really worth looking at again if you ha🔥ven’t since launch.

22 Overrated: Just Cause 3 ꦉ 🙈

via: images.nvidia.com

I got this game when it came out, and I just never understood how people love this series as 𒀰much as they do. It is cool that you can hook stuff together and it makes literally everything explode, but it can be so over the top that it just becomes boring. The story is there, but man, it’s not the reason to play it. The voice acting is kinda meh. The appeal of this game i𒁏s flying around in the wingsuit and blowing stuff up. I’ve just always thought this series was overrated.

21 Worth A Second Look: Fi🍃nal Fantasy XV

via: amazon.com

We waited about 10 years for this game, so I get that not everyone was pleased with it. But man, I loved every minute I played of it. The combat system reminded me of Kingdom Hearts, and that’s one of my favorite franchises!

The Royal Edition has all the DLC with it, even. They supported this game with a ton of DLC post-launch. They even went back and added to Chapter 13, which was considered the ꦏlow point of the game. All the DLC adds to the character development and is worth going back𓆉 to.
