The good news is that using Omnimovement is surprisingly simple a🀅nd not mandatory to perform well. In this guide, we cover how Omnimovement works, showcase all movement techniques you can use in Black Ops 6, and give some setting recommendations to make Omnimovement feel as fluid as possible in all game modes, including Multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone.

What Is Omnimovement?

Black Ops 6 Player Diving Out Of Vorkuda Building

Omnimovement is a rework of Black Ops 6's locomotion system. Players can now perform movement actions in any direction, such as sprinting backward, sliding sideways, or dolphin diving backward. This greatly enhances your movement tools in a typical gunfight and ra⛎ises the skill gap for high-skill players.

While Omnimovement has been the single largest change to Black Ops 6's sandbox, it's more or less optional. You don't have to make use of Omnimovement to perform well. Slower, more methodical tactics still work here. If chaining so many movement tools makes your hands cramp, you can simply ignore most of these new⛄ features. But if you're a movement adept who wants to improve, Black Ops 6 gives you multiple avenues for growth.

Movement Overview

Outside a rework to dolphin dives, Black Ops 6 actually hasn't made any majo✤r changes to CoD's core movement toolkit. If you've played any CoD title since MW2019, you know what to expect here. Sliding, diving, and tactical sprint all return with minor tweaks to fit the new Om𒊎nimovement system.

Sprint

Black Ops 6 Sprint Example

Sprinting will increase your character's movement speed at the cost of weapon readiness. You can sprint in any direction in Black Ops 6, even backward. Doing so doesn't have any movement penalties either. While sprinting, your weapons will incur a sprint-to-fire delay before they can shoot, as shown on 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the gun's advanced stats 🐠page in the G🧔unsmith. You can use attachments to lower this penalty.

Unless you need to muffle your footsteps, you should always be sprinting in Black Ops 6. Th🌃e momentum you gain from sprinting is a requirement for most movement actions—sliding, dolphin diving, and tactical sprinting. You can sprint for 🍌as long as you want; there's no cooldown.

Under "Movement Assist" in the options menu, you can set your character to always sprint. This makes Omn🌊imovement much easier to u💛se in combat.

We cover o⭕ther options like this in the "Best Omnimovement Settings" section of the guide.

Tactical Sprint

Black Ops 6 Tactical Sprint Example

Black Ops 6 is the first Treyarch title to have tactical sprint, although it functions the same as past titles. While sprinting, press the sprint input again to initiate a tactical sprint. You move slightly faster while in this state (roughly +1m/s), but your weapon's sprint-to-fire delay is substantially increased. Do not tactical sprint in combat if you can help it.

Unlike IW and Sledgehammer titles, tactical sprint in Black Ops 6 is far less effective. You only gain a minor speed boost while in tac sprint, and it has a fairly low duration unless you use the Double Time perk. You should only use tactical sprint to build momentum quickly or to retreat. It's arguably useless for 6v6 Multiplayer, but tacꦏtical sprint is beneficial in Zombies and Warzone.

Slide

Black Ops 6 Slide Example

Sliding is your bread-and-butter movement skill. While sprinting, press the crouch input to initiate a slide based on your current momentum. If you're running forward, you'll slide forward. If 𒆙you're strafing sideways and slide, you'll strafe sideways, et cetera. Sliding will give you a short momentum boost before rapidly decelerating your character. The slide will end once🌃 you lose all momentum or press another movement input.

Guns suffer a slide-to-fire delay in Black Ops 6, w𒆙hich you can mitigate through attachments.

The speed increase and posture shift make sliding incredibly powerful in the hands of an aggressive player. Skilled players can end slides prematurely by pressing the jump input mid-slide, allowing you to control the exact distance you travel while in this state. You can even end your🐻 slide in a prone position to throw off yജour opponent's aim.

Dolphin Dive

Black Ops 6 Dolphin Dive Example

Dolphin diving has received a much-needed rework in Black Ops 6 to be far more practical in combat. While sprinting, hold the crouch button to leap in your current movement direction. This builds an absurd amount of speed at the cost of zero momentum preservation—once you land, you're prone and need to get back up. Unlike past CoD games, you can shoot while diving, making it far more useful in gunfights.

Guns suffer a dive-to-fire delay. This can be mitigated with attachments.

You'll usually be better off sliding in most gunfights, but dolphin diving can be incredibly useful for breaching rooms or traversing floors. For example, you can leap off the second floor in Skyline to crash into the lower floor pool area, allowing you to cross a massive chunk of the map in a second. However, you'll always land in the prone position, limiting your movement options. Dolphin dive when you'✱re confident you'll be safe when you land.

Mantle

Black Ops 6 Mantling Example

While not technically part of Omnimovement, mantling is an important mechanic for getting around maps quickly. Pressing the jump input while near a chest-high wall will climb up the surface. You can adjust your movement settings in t🌳he options menu to automatically climb up lower surfaces. We highly recommend doing this to minimize input strings while in the thick of combat.

Advanced Movement Techniques

Black Ops 6 Two Players Using Omnimovement On Skywatch

Now that we've covered💞 the basics, it's time to explain some more advanced techniques you can use. You can use these input chains or quirks to gain an advantage in a gunfight. Most of these techniques will be familiar to MW3 players.

Slide Cancelling

The first thing you should master is slide cancelling, a technique where you end your slide prematurely. During a slide, simply press the jump button. This ♛will end the slide after a quarter-second delay and leave you in a crouched position. You can sprint immediately afterward to stand up. It's incredibly easy to do and gives you a ton of control over your slide distance.

If you're struggling to slide cancel, try adjusting your key binds. Controller users can bind the jump key to a bumpeꦺr, thumbstick, or paddle if the controller has any. Mouse and Keyboard users shouldn't have a♌ny issues finding comfortable bindings for this.

Drop Shotting

Black Ops 6 Drop Shot Example

Drop shotting is when you hold the prone key when a gunfight starts. The transition period between standing and lying prone is so ꦺfast that it throw🌳s off many players. Controller users will need to hold the crouch button to achieve a similar effect. If you can bind this to a thumbstick or paddle, drop shotting becomes trivially easy.

Slide To Prone

Black Ops 6 Character In Prone Stance.

A new feature in Black Ops 6, you can actually end every slide in the prone position with a simple input adjustment. While sliding, hold the crouch input. This w⭕ill cause you to remain in the prone position once you're done sliding. Try to end your sl💧ides near low cover to really throw off your opponent.

Input Buffering

Input buffering is a technique where you hold an input (usually slide) while performing another action. When your current action is finished, the buffered input will immediately trigger. We only care about using this to queue slides while jumping. Hold the slide button while midair to perform a slide once you hit the ground.

You'll slide in the direction your momentum is taking you,💦 which means you can effectively turn around and shoot targets while moving in the oppo▨site direction. Input buffering your slides like this can be extremely effective in Warzone and larger maps.

Omnimovement doesn't require you to rebind all of your keys or enable dozens of settings, but you can make a few tweaks to smooth out some of its rough edges. We highly recommend you enter the options menu for your input device (controller or M&K) and enable Sprint Assist. This will force your character to 🌳sprint whenever you move, allowing you to 𒊎tactical sprint with a single tap of the sprint key.

Now that you can easily trigger Omnimovement, you'll want to ensure that sprint remains responsive. Slide Maintains Sprint and Sprint Restore should greatly help with this. Finally, we highly recommend you set your Slide/Dive Behavior to Hybrid. Tapping the crouch button will always initiate a slide, while pressing🌞 it with y🍨our sprint button held will perform a dive instead. It takes some getting used to, but the minimal input delay is worth the learning curve.

You can also make some minor tweaks to your graphical settings to make BO6's fast-paced movement feel a little smoother. Above all else, make sure your FOV is set to a comfortable setting. Higher is not always better here. We play at 95 FOV, but you might want to reduce this based on how far you play from your gaming display. You should also turn off motion blur and minimize Camera Movement. This helps ൲with overall image clarity in chaotic gunfights.
