The RPG looks like a really big swing.

If you've started to find additional weapons in Clair Obscur, you may have noticed that some have letter grades associated with specific 🎀attributes. If your shiny new sword has a C in Vitality and a D in Agility, and yoꦗu want to know what that means, we've got all the details.

How Does Weapon Attribute Scaling Work In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33?

Some weapons in Clair Obscur have attribute scaling, meaning that their damage scales with some of your attributes. The only attributes that matter for a particular weapon are the ones denoted under each letter grade, which will typically be only one or two sp𓄧ecific attributes from either Vitality, Luck, Might, Defense, or Agility.

There are five grades from D to S, and the higher the grade, the more that particular weapon will scale with its designated attribute. In other words, a weapon with a B in Vitality will scale more with each point of Vitality than a weapon with a C or a D in the same attribute. Generally speaking, you will want your character's highest attributes to match the attributes their weapon scales with.

How Much Does Attribute Scaling Matter?

Early on, you don't need to worry much about attribute scaling. D- and C-grade weapons scale very little with your attrib꧙utes, so it's best not to worry about synergising your attributes with your weapon. If you have a weapon with D-grade attribute and fewer than ten points in that attribute, you won't receive any additional power scaling at all.

Upgrading🐠 your weapons𒐪 at the Curator will improve their attribute scaling grades.

Once you start to find B- and A-grade weapons, attribute scaling becomes a much bigger factor. A B-grade weapon with its corresponding attribute at 12 points will have an additional ten points of power, while an A-grade weapon will earn more than one bonus point of power per assigned attribute point. Once you've committed to stronger weapons in the mid to late-game, it's important to match your attribute spread to that weapon's strength.

How To Maximize Weapon Attribute Scaling

Early in the game, you'll be switching weapons often, so you don't need to worry about aligning your attribute points with your weapon's strengths. Once you've unlocked the Curator and started spending your to upgrade your weapons, you might want to consider your weapon of choice when it comes time to spend your attribute points.

When at a rest point, your wea🦩pon's scaling will be noted on the associated attribute.

It's a good idea to prioritize your weapon's assigned attributes when upgrading your characters. If you feel like you've overcommited your points to the wrong attributes, you can use a Recoat to reset all of their points, allowing you to better allocate them to suit your weapon. Keep in mind that this also resets all of your skills, so make sure you unlock all of your preferred skills ag﷽ain before you leave the rest point.
