What Is The Education Budget?
From the services tab in the Economy menu, you can raise or lower the education budget of your city.
This will affect the chances of graduation for students in your city, as well as impact any city-wide effects that you have. For example, the Medical University decreases recovery failures and increases hospital efficiency within your city. With a decreased budget, this will not be as effective.
Does Every Citizen Go To College?
In real life, you decide if you want to attend college. This is implemented in Cities: Skylines 2 as well. Citizens can choose if they want to attend college or not, which means🐻 that not everyone will become college/university-educated.
There are ways to boost college interest though. For example, the signature building Principiis will have a city-wide increase in university education, as well as pri🅰ce an increased chance of graduation.
How To Provide Elementary & High School Education
Child and teen citizens will attend school normally, you don't have to boost interest in these public schools.
To provide adequate elementary and high school education, be sure to check out the education overlay. This will show you the ca﷽pacity for each school, ♕as well as the eligibility number.
With one elementary school, you will have a base of 1,000 capacity, if you have more than 1,000 eligible children, try building another school or upgrading the current school.
Eligibility Vs. Capacity
Within the education overlay, you will see the eligible students, the maximum capacity, and the current number of students in the corresponding school type. Your college eligibility may be way more than your maximum capacity, but don't panic just yet!
The important number here is the current number of students. If this is nowhere near the capacity, then you simply have a lot of adults who opted out of college. Fortunately, adults can go back to college later i⭕n life, allowing them to become well and hꦡighly educated.
Transportation To School
Another important thing to keep in mind is how your citizens get to school. If you place a college far from residential zones, some citizens may struggle to get there and use this as a reason to not attend. With medium to high-density residential buildings close to your colleges and universities, you can help boost the number of citizens who attend.
Additionally, we suggest setting up a transportation system that goes between residential areas and schools. This can be as simple as a subway stop, or a complex bus network that covers many residential zones. Regardless of what you choose, people need a way to get to school!
