Bugsnax is a darker game than it looks. Sure, you spend most of the time hunting adorable, yummy-looking critters and forging friendships with the muppet-like grumpuses, but there's a mysterious backstory to the game's world.
Hinted at in the initial version of the game and expanded with the Bigsnax update, the Triplicate Space is a hidden, optional area of the game that both answers some questions and raises more riddles. Here's how to get inside, how to solve its puzzles, and what to do once you've unleashed a hellish frothy coffee on the island.

How To Access The Triplicate Space
To access the Triplicate Space, you will first need an item called the Triangle Key. This is a clue that you can only pick up in Broken Tooth, locked behind a door.
The door you need to unlock is in the same room as the Pielobite, to the right-hand side of the main temple. The door has one of those brazier switches in front of it, so you'll need to light it up!

Starting from the camp at the start of Broken Tooth, you'll need to use your Trip Shot to light up the braziers. The pictures above show the path you should take. E𓆉ach successive brazier is clearly viewable from the previous one.
Once the door is open, head inside and pi🦹ck up the key.
Where To Find The Triplicate Space
Picking up the triangle key leads to a letter being sent to you that contains a clue to the Triplicate Space's location - Grumpbeard.
Travel to Boiling Bay and head to the half-a-shipwreck that Floofty once called home. Use the Lunchpad to jump up to the deck and then walk to t♔he end of the ship, behind the mast. Look down to find a triangular ꩲentrance.
This is the entrance to the Triplicate 🌳Space, a bonus, secret area with puzzles of its own.
How To Solve The Puzzles In The Triplicate Space
There are a few puzzles to solve in the Triplicate Space, and you should be interacting with all of the tape recorders you encounter as you explore the place. They'll provide you with a ton of backstory, lore, and information about Bugsnax and Snaktooth Island - as well as raise new questions.
Walk forwards and interact with the bright blue button on the pillar. This is the first of three buttons you need to press to u♓nlock the final section of the Triplicate Sp⛎ace.
Facing away from the entrance, take the left branch first. It'll lead to a room full of grumpus statues either facing the center of the room or away from the center. This is the Cathedral. Interacting with them will flip the direction that they and the statues next to them are facing - it's a classic puzzle.
Triplicate Space Cathedral Puzzle Solution
There are two rows of statues, each with seven statues. Number them from one to seven, from left to right. The row on the right has three statues facing away from the center, and the row on the left has two - this is so you know which statue we're referring to in the solutions below.
- For the row on the right-hand side, when facing away from the door, you need to interact with the following statues: Two, Three, and Four.
- For the row on the left-hand side, when facing away from the door, you need to interact with the following statues: Three and Four.
- Once all of the statues are facing the center, a blue stone will rise up at the end of the room. Press it!
Now, head to the room at th🎃e end of the other branch with 🔯three rotating statues.
If you mess up and need to reset this puzzle, just leave the Triplicate Space and return.
Triplicate Space Pendulum Puzzle Solution
The rotation of the statues will affect the dir𝓡ection 𒉰that the pendulum swings in the middle of the room.
-
Point all three statues in the same direction, and do this twice - one for each wall that isn't the wall you entered from.
- One wall will break to reveal a single tape.
- The other wall unlocks a small room containing a tape and the button you have to press.
Once you've pressed all three buttons in the area, head back to the central room. A final path will have opened that leads to the Snakolyte break room. This room contains a very special Bugsnak - the Capuceetle - and the final tape recorder.

How To Catch The Capuceetle
Entering the break room will unleash a very 🉐special Bugsnak - the Capuceetle. Catching t🌼his critter is no simple task.
The Capuceetle is incredibly quick and has the evasion techniques to match. It's also incredibly skittish - if it notices you, it'll run away at lightning speed. This is where the unique thing about the Capuceele comes into play - if the Capuceetle notices you and gets scared, it'll immediately leave the area and pick a different area in the game.
You can spend ages hunting the Capuceetle if you don't know how to catch it, which can be incredibly frustrating.
The Capuceetle will avoid most of your trapping tools. It'll dodge your Snak Trap and Trip Shot, it'll be startled by everything else. The one thing it doesn't mind is sauce shot from your Sauce Slinger; in fact, its love of chocolate is the key to catching it.
The following strategy is - eventually - foolproof:
- Chase the Capuceetle around Snaktooth Island until it picks Flavor Falls as its hideout. It'll be in the Mama Mewon arena, circling it constantly.
- The way you're going to catch the Capuceetle is a mixture of strategy and chance. Head to the top of Flavor Falls, where the Sandopede train climbs up and crosses over to the other side of the area.
- Using the Sauce Slinger, place multiple patches of chocolate on the ground directly in the path of the Sandopede train. You're hoping that the Capuceetle waits long enough at the chocolate patch to get struck by the charging Sandopedes, dazing it and letting you pick it up with the Bug Net.
- Head into the Mama Mewon arena and startle the Capuceetle. It'll run off and hopefully get struck. Rush after it, as you don't get much time to scoop it up.
If the Capuceetle doesn't get hit by the Sandopede, immediately hit the pause button and choose Restart from Save.
This will put you at the entrance to Flavor Falls again and let you retry this method. It's important that you do this before any autosaves kick in after the Capuceetle leaves, or you'll have to chase it around the island again.
Basically, the key to catching the Capuceetle is to get it hit by another Bugsnak without startling it. In other areas, it may be possible to cover it in a sauce that a different Bugsnak will attack, but it's difficult to get them to reach it as the Capuceetle is just so fast.
Once you've managed to catch the Capuceetle, another one will spawn in the Triplicate Space break room. Just head there and startle it to begin another chase - if that's your thing, of course.
