The BloodRayne franchise is returning from the dead under new ownership, which will 🌠lead to ports of the older games and new💜 titles in the future.
The BloodRayne franchise stars the titular dhampir, who fights against an evil cult during World War II. The BloodRayne franchise spawned three games, several comic book series, and a trilogy of movies over the course of its run. The series heavily promoted the sexuality of its main character and she even appeared in Playboy magaz🅘ine, despite the whole "not being a real person"🍸 thing.
The BloodRayne series is making a comeback under new ownership. A publisher named Ziggurat Interactive has purchased the rights to a number of old franchises in order to release remastered ports and develop new games. BloodRayne is one of these franchises and Ziggurat is working with the original developers to release a remastered version of the first game. The company is also looking at releasinꦦg new entries in the series in the future.
“BloodRayne is a beloved franchise with a huge fan base and we’re extremely appreciative of the opportunity to be stewards for this f💖antastic series,” said Ziggurat Interactive’s President, Wade Rosen. “Players the world over fondly remember titles like BloodRayne and Advent Rising and having the opportunity to not only bring these games to a new audience but to expanღd their universes is something we take seriously.”
"🃏We ar🌠e really excited to have this opportunity to revisit one of our favorite game series and make it available to a new audience," said Mark Randel, President, Terminal Reality, Inc.
The first two BloodRayne games were decent action titles that did a great job of making the combat feel visceral. The emphasis on sexualizing BloodRayne herself went a little overboard at times (if you don't believe us, check out the sound she makes when feeding on enemies on in the original game), but it was clear that the franchise had the potential for some exci😼ting titles.
The BloodRayne franchise has been in suspended animation since the release of BloodRayne: Betrayal in 2011, with a planned entry on the Nintendo 3DS canned before release. A remastered version of the original BloodRayne could revitalize interest in the series and maybe even (god forbid) lead to more BloodRayne movies in the future.
